Stampin’ Up! Sweetly Swirled Video Tutorial Sneak Peek!

Happy Saturday, y’all!  What plans do you have for the weekend?  I think we need to hit the Farmer’s Market this morning (and I think Finn-y might get to go, too!) to get more tomatoes.  I am really regretting not having any plants this year!  Wayne and I came home from Italy with a new-found love of caprese salad!  And…those half-ripe maters from the grocery store….no.  Just…no!

Tonight though, I think we should get together on my Stamps-N-Lingers FB page and do a video!  We’ll meet up at 7pm Eastern and make a Sweetly Swirled little thank you card.  Take a sneaky-peek:

So – I hope you’ll be able to join me!

Tonight.  7pm Eastern.  Right here!

So – I know I promised Part 2 of the 2019 Holiday Catalog sample parade today, but I forgot about Video Sneaky-Peek Saturday (I just made that name up)!  So…I pinkie-swear….we’ll do it on Monday, okay? 😉

Do YOU Like to Pay Taxes on Your Goodies?!?

Me, neither!

If you love holidays—and don’t love taxes—we have some great news for you! Twelve U.S. states will have sales tax holidays for school supplies over the next several weeks. The dates for each state’s sales tax holiday will vary; the definition of “school supplies” will also vary from state to state. Fortunately, a selection of Stampin’ Up! products qualify as school supplies and will be tax-free during each state’s sales tax holiday period. (Sales tax holidays may not apply to additional county, city, and special jurisdiction taxes.)

If you live in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Mexico, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia or Wisconsin (whoo-hoo!) —click the picture below to see which products will be tax-free for each state !  HINT:  TENNESSEE – YOU’RE UP!  Shop on 26 – 28 July to save big on sales tax!

Important Note: Orders must be placed with Stampin’ Up! during the sales tax holiday period to receive these select items tax free; each period begins—and ends—at midnight (Mountain Time).

Finn Fan Fix

I’ve been thinking of fun things to do with Finn now that I’m going to have time on my hand – and NOT have to go running here and there for months at a time.

One of those things is…pet therapy!  I think Finn-y would be seriously awesome as a pet therapy dog, don’t you?  And…maybe one of those airport dogs – the ones that try to keep folks from having meltdowns.  Not the ones that find drugs or anything. 😉

Since the first step to any of these is…training – I thought we ought to start at home.

And – since we’re inundated with trees – and branches that fall to the ground – I thought to myself “Self – let’s teach the dog to pick up sticks and carry them to a pile and drop them”.

He LIKES to carry sticks.

Unfortunately – the second phase of the process is much MUCH harder.

He sort of likes to…chew them to pieces wherever he picks them up.

Well.  I suppose wood chips might be useful, too?

Baby steps! 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – they’re amazing in their ability to help! Thanks, Jean! 🙂

  2. Looking forward to seeing your live tonight! Good luck with the stick training…hmmm, wet wood chips might not go over so well with everyone. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Nope – they’d be sorta yuck… See you tonight, Amy! 🙂

  3. Gerri K

    Hi Mary,
I think Finn would make a great Therapy Dog. He makes me smile all the time.
Unfortunately, I’ll miss your Facebook Live tonight but will catch the video later. We have tickets to see “the Amazing Kreskin”. He’s a mentalist (my husband’s idea). I’m just hoping he doesn’t pick on me. Although, I betcha anything my husband will somehow get in on the act.

    • stampsnlingers

I like watching mentalists. On my tv where they can’t “randomly” pick me! 😉 Write down an old retired SU! DSP name on a piece of paper and put it in a sealed envelope in your purse. If he “randomly” picks you – make him tell you what you wrote! Have fun, Gerri!! 🙂

      • Gerri K

The show was fun and as I suspected, my husband ended up on the stage with Kreskin. lol Thankfully, I did not but the retired dsp idea was a really good one.
Loved the video! Great card! Now I want the Sweetly Swirled set too.

      • stampsnlingers

Glad you enjoyed it – and did NOT have to go on stage! 🙂 Thanks for taking the time to watch the video – and yes. It’s a great little set! 🙂

  4. Faith Simpson

Awesome idea for Finn-y to be a therapy dog!! Doggies are such comfort whatever the need….and he looks so huggable!!

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – it would be a great job for him. Pettings and lovings everyday…from STRANGERS! Yes, please, Mom! Thanks, Faith! 🙂

  5. Sue Floyd

    Hi Mary!
You totally crack me up! Especially with Finns Fan Club. I was thinking along the same lines as you were with regards to retirement activities. Finn has such a following that you already have the ” branding” for any direction you want to go. Videos, books, education…animals reAlly seem to make people pay attention & remember…So maybe even public service announcement! He could become a legend. Like Smokey the Bear!
I also liked the thirty one sale items…great deals too!
Thanks for your posts…always bring me smiles!

If I had any skill as an illustrator I’d try my hand at a Finn-line of kids books. But…alas…not so much! Seems like there ought to be something, though, right?!? LOL! Thank you so much, Sue – hope you grab some of the 31 goodies. It’s a heckuva sale! 🙂

  6. I think Finn would make an excellent therapy dog. He is so cute and loveable that he would be an instant hit.
I am so glad he recovered from his kennel cough. It can be really nasty..
Enjoy your retirement, it is a wonderful part of life but you are going tp wonder how you had time to work Judy Bradwell, Alberta, Canada

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – it was pretty awful to watch the poor little guy coughing so hard. I’m grateful it didn’t become pneumonia! And I think he’d be an awesome therapy dog, too! Thanks, Judy! 🙂
