Hey guys – it’s Friday!
I’m pretty sure.
Well – it’s Friday SOMEwhere – here? There? Both?
I’m tired, folks – the jet lag is real! So – my normally sharp-as-a-razor-wit may be a little…dull. 😉
We spent Wed and Thursday getting to Rome – long but easy flying, all in all.
After we arrived at our hotel…
… and met up with Igor…
…we hit the streets and saw some sights!
Like…the Pantheon. And the Trevi Fountain. St. Peter’s Basilica. All I can really say is Oh. My. Goodness! The architecture is simply beyond explaining. The sheer size – and intricate detail of the carvings. The longevity of these buildings that have been here since the start of recorded civilization. Sort of stunning!
And then?
Yep. Gelato.
Amy and I had Tiramisu Gelato.
It. Did. Not. Suck. 🙂
After dinner we walked a little more to see the the Piazza Del Popolo and the Fontana della Dea di Roma.
Okay. We actually did Gelato…TWICE.
In the same day.
Our second go was a scoop of Dark Chocolate and a scoop of Baileys. It was even better than the Tiramisu! 🙂
So! Day one was a rousing success.
One of these days soon I’ll tell the “Spanx” story. But not today.

WELL! I don’t see how the rest of the trip can compare with the fun you are having on your first day! My goodness, seeing Igor, eating gelato, twice no less, and all that historic architecture, and, and, and…how can it get any better??? Is the other woman in the photos Igor’s wife or a tour guide? Or, somebody else? I won’t say ‘Have a good time’, because you obviously are!!
Yeah – gelato twice is NOT good for the diet – but…we’ll leave soon! So I plan to enjoy the yummy-ness while I can! The other woman that I think you mean is Anna – Amy and Lance’s older daughter! 🙂 And yes – it’s going to be hard to make the days get BETTER than this first one has been! But we’ll give it the old college try! Thanks, Julie! 🙂

It IS my first trip. I hope it’s not my last – I’d very much like to see more of Italy – away from quite so much “tourist-ry”! It really is a huge testament to the engineering prowess of the Romans that so much has survived at all – let alone as well as it has. W
