Stampin’ Up! Path of Pressed Petals Sympathy Card!

Good morning, y’all!  Here we are on Sunday!  The weekend progresses apace – WAY faster than two days during the week, don’t they?  What the heck is up with that??!

If you were able to join me last night for my FB live – I appreciate you spending part of your weekend with me.  If not, but you’d like to see the replay, here you go!

The card we made – a Sympathy card (but we all agreed this would be a wonderful wedding card – different sentiment, of course.  LOL) – uses some pieces and parts from the new Pressed Petals suite!  The new Pressed Petals Specialty DSP in this suite is my new fave-paper-of-all-time….ever!  And look what happens when you combine it with the Path of Petals stamp set and the Heirloom 3D Embossing Folders and Dies (that coordinate with the Woven Heirlooms stamp set).  Take a look-see:

Boom-chakalaka! 🙂

The layout for this one is from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week.

I started by adhering some wonderful linen-look paper from the Pressed Petals DSP to a Rococo Rose mat for the card front.  Then I took some of the wild roses paper, adhered it to Rococo Rose and then to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I created the frame using the new Heirloom 3D Embossing Folders and Dies – I’ll be getting the new 3D Embossing Folder Plate soon, but for now I used 4 sheets of cardstock as a shim.  I cut the frame from Crumb Cake first, then embossed it in the folder.  I used a Sponge Dauber to brush Crumb Cake over the embossed parts of the frame.

I used my Bone Folder to add some creases in the corners of the frame to create some depth, then I added the frame to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the Path of Petals sentiment in Merry Merlot on Very Vanilla and cut it out with a Stitched Shapes Oval die.  Then I popped that inside the frame with Dimensionals.

I created the flower using “petals” from the new Pressed Petals Specialty Washi Tape and a 1/2″ Circle – you can see how in the video!  Then I added a Perennial Essence Floral Center.

I made a loop-de-loop with some Mossy Meadow Linen Thread from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo and some Glue Dots, then adhered my flower over top with another Glue Dot, and the card front was done.

On the inside, I used stamped-off-once Mossy Meadow, Rococo Rose and Crumb Cake to add the three-step flower image from Path of Petals to the middle of a Very Vanilla Panel.  Over top I added a second sentiment from Path of Petals in Merry Merlot.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Rococo Rose mat and into my Thick Very Vanilla card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got the Path of Petals flowers in full-strength Mossy Meadow, Rococo Rose and Crumb Cake…

…and more of the wild rose paper from the Pressed Petals Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila! I think it’s pretty obvious why the Pressed Petals suite is going to be a fave of mine – and the Pressed Petals Specialty DSP already is!  Just go right ahead and get you a pack Right.  This.  Minute.  I mean it.  Don’t even wait!  Heck – get the whole suite – you won’t regret it one second!  I hope you like!

New 3D Embossing Folder Plate Now Available!

The new 3D Embossing Folder Plate (item 149658) is now available to order! It’s designed to work with our new-style 3D embossing folders (which are thinner than our old-style Dynamic folders).

You can click on the picture above and open the flyer – then print it and keep it by your embossing machine and new 3D Embossing Folder Plate.  It’s got your new “sandwich” information right on it!

Remember that carryover 3D embossing folders will not be available to order at the start of the new catalog but I’ll let you know when they’re available to order.

Also keep in mind that we expect to receive staggered plate shipments in all markets during June and July as we build inventory. Which means, you may experience periods of time when it is unavailable to order if inventory is depleted; it will become available to order again when inventory is replenished.

How to Use the New Plate

The new plate makes up the difference in measurement between our old-style Dynamic Folders and our new-style 3D Folders in most die-cutting machines. The 3D Embossing Folder Plate replaces the Standard Cutting Pads in your 3D embossing folder sandwich for continued high-quality emboss results.

To create your emboss sandwich:

  • Use a die-cutting & embossing machine platform as a base; no matter which machine you’re using, use the standard platform which comes with your machine.
  • Use the 3D Embossing Folder with your paper in the middle.
  • Then use the 3D Embossing Folder Plate on top.

Given the differences in machines and platforms, you may still have to add a shim to get your desired embossing results. (You can also spritz your paper before embossing to maximize your embossed impressions.)

Without the new 3D Embossing Folder Plate, you will need to use several shims with the Standard Cutting Pad in your 3D embossing folder sandwich, depending on the die-cutting & embossing machine you use. Most machines will need between three to five sheets of cardstock to shim. Please be careful in how you shim; start out with fewer sheets first, then add sheets to get your desired results.  Stampin’ Up! won’t be responsible for replacing products broken due to using a sandwich which is too thick for a machine.

Finn Fan Fix

I’ve been busy with my thinning scissors.  I really want to clip the Man – but…even though we’d never show in the breed ring (for many reasons!) – I would really hate for his coat to come back in “wrong”.  And I don’t have a good guard for my horse clippers.

So…dog coat thinning scissors it is.

Working on skirt and pantaloonies.  And around his collar…where the knots get.

Wait – what?  You can’t see a difference?!?

Look close.

I cut about two dog’s worth off! 🙁

Humor me, people!

  1. If your card doesn’t win, I’ll be quite surprised. Good luck in the challenge. Finn looks none too happy about what you did to his pantaloonies! It should be cooler for him, yes?

    • stampsnlingers

No one likes their pantaloonies trimmed! 😉 Thank you for the kind words, Karen! 🙂

  2. Such a beautiful card Mary! I love your design and the colors are perfect! Sorry that I missed the video last night…need to go watch so that I can see how you made that flower. 🙂

Finn does look less “fluffy” to me and I bet that he feels a lot better too!! 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Amy! Glad you could see the changes! Enjoy making that flower! 🙂

  3. Dianne Stoudt

    Hi Mary,
I was able to watch your video today, Sunday, and enjoyed both the card making and the product sharing. You’re right, that dsp on your card is gorgeous! But so much in the catalog is wonderful this year, it’s hard to pick any one thing as the best. Your card’s a beauty, and I love the dimension you created with your frame. You are one talented lady! Thanks for sharing your ideas with us.

    • stampsnlingers

Oh – you’re very sweet, Kathy! Thank you very much, indeed, for those kind words. And yes – it’s an amazing catalog! 🙂

  5. Absolutely gorgeous! That frame is amazing – and I love the pattern you put behind it. Carrying the design into the inside is the perfect touch. Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Kim – appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  6. Lee Ann Barrett

Beautiful card! I love that rectangle frame; the gorgeous floral peeking out behind it coupled with the oval sentiment makes this card a knock out! I don’t know the before Finn, but he sure is a cutie! Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks very much, Lee Ann! I appreciate the kind words – about my card AND Finn! 🙂
