Stampin’ Up! Country Home Shutter Gate Fun Fold Card

Happy Hawmp Day, y’all!  This is sort of a cool day for me – I think I mentioned on a Sunday video that I’d been invited to be a guest Tutorial Author on SplitCoast Stampers.  And this is the day my tutorial goes live! 🙂

The card that I made for the tutorial – Dina Kowal asked me to do a Shutter Gate Card for it – was made with the new Country Home stamp set and Country Lane DSP.  Take a look-see:

I know you guys know all about these – I’ve done a few for you over these past couple of years.

They look like a Gate Card on the outside, but…

…slide that belly band off and…

I used Soft Suede for the card base and shutters, then matted my Country Lane DSP on Cajun Craze card stock.

For the Country Home flowers on the front, I stamped the image in Soft Suede on Whisper White and colored them with my Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Cajun Craze, Blackberry Bliss and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends.

I used the circle from the inside cut-out as part of the belly band decoration – don’t toss that circle, y’all! 🙂

The sentiment, from Country Home, is stamped in Mossy Meadow on a piece of Whisper White, then cut with a circle Stitched Shapes Framelits die.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere the flowers and can behind the sentiment – separating them just a bit so you’d be able to get a good look at both of them.

I decorated my Whisper White Medium Envelope – well, duh! – with another Country Home image on the front…

…and a little more Country Lane DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Gate card goes wild!  The inside shutter mechanism is easy to make and I love it in its Country Home and Country Lane livery!  I hope you like!

So – there’s a video with the Wednesday tutorial – and you can find it right here!

Hope you enjoy it if you get a chance to watch!

Finn Fan Fix

Today (Tuesday), was bi-annual doggie check-up day!

We went to see Dr. Amanda to get lovings – and a few vaccines – and some kisses – and our heart listened to – and hugs – and our weight (we need to drop a couple!) – and some treats (well – we’ll start the diet tomorrow!).

He was wiggling so hard we could hardly get in the front door!

We had to wait a minute – I mean…it IS a doctor’s office, after all!

Then one of his friends came and took him for his first stick.  Blood work. 🙁

But – he returned, bravely sporting his blue bandaid – and waited impatiently for the “good part”

Finally – Dr. Amanda came in and….the hugging and kissing and petting and loving commenced!

He was panting so hard – cuz of the excitement! – that he had to be shushed just a little bit….so that they could listen to his heart!

Finally – all done!  Bandaid off – just had to wait for his heartworm medicine!

With any luck – we won’t see them again for 6 months.

He IS a boy, though… 😉

Just sayin’!

  1. Such a pretty card! Love your design and the fall colors are perfect! Poor Finn…it does look like he has it pretty rough at the vet office. He’s grinning from ear to ear, I can see how much he dislikes going. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – he HATES HATES HATES it there. I literally have to drag him thru the door…. ROFL!! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  2. …and I am privileged to be able to say, “I knew her when”! You will go on to be a million dollar seller for SU too. You don’t need that government job! Oh, yes, you do…pensions are very important, along with health insurance! Finn is such a delight as are your writings and pics. Have a great hump day. We are off to more food and wine tasting. It’s been great so far.

SO glad that you guys are having a great time with the Mouse, Karen!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 And you’re sweet! Perhaps I’ll be a million seller by the time I’m 107! 😉 Appreciate you! 🙂

Lovely card for your guest appearance. They could not have chosen better than you!!!
I guess if Dr. Norton had treats, and if Clara were more treat-driven, those visits for get attention would be less troublesome. It is grand that Finn is so loved.

    • stampsnlingers

They really DO love him – well beyond the amount of revenue he’s generated! And he knows it – and love them right back! Thanks very much, Mom! 🙂

  5. Maryanne Willequer

Mary–of course I had to watch your Splitcoaststampers video. Great job! I love this fall version of the shutter card. And glad to hear Finn’s health is fine after the scare earlier this year!

    • stampsnlingers

I know! Dr. Amanda couldn’t keep from rubbing all over his scar-that-you-can’t-even-see! She’s quite the seamstress! Thank you so much – I’m really glad you watched – and enjoyed! – the video, Maryanne! 🙂

  6. Kathy Fennell

I really love this Shutter Card! I’m going to have to give it a try Mary! It really is an eye catcher and I have someone who would really love to receive one. Finn is just oh soo cute, glad he had a good visit with the Vet.

    • stampsnlingers

Have fun making it, Kathy! It’s truly not very difficult! Thanks so much! 🙂
