Stampin’ Up! Delightful Daisy and a Charming Cafe

Good morning!  How’s it going today?  Do you have a good weekend planned? Hope so!

I did a quick and easy card today – very simple design, using an old favorite (well, not so very old, maybe!) – the Daisy Delight stamp set, bundled Daisy Punch and Delightful Daisy DSP – combined with a pretty sentiment from the Occasions stamp set called Charming Cafe.  Take a look-see:

I used the color scheme from this week’s Color Throwdown.  I love the Black/White/Any Color combination, don’t you?

I started by adhering a small panel of the Delightful Daisy DSP to the top of a Whisper White panel and matting the whole thing on Basic Black.  I wrapped a length of Basic Black 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon around the card front, covering the seam, and securing it in the back with Fast Fuse.

On a second piece of Whisper White, I sponged two circles in Peekaboo Peach – then I cut out two flowers with the Daisy Punch.

I lightly curled the petals with my Bone Folder and, in the center of one flower, stamped the flower middle image from the Daisy Delight stamp set in stamped-off-once Calypso Coral.  Then I adhered the two flowers together with Liquid Glue.

I used my Stampapotamus to position and stamp the sentiment from Charming Cafe in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I plan to make a few of these – with different colors of DSP! – so I left the stamp in place.

I adhered the daisy to the card front with a Glue Dot and added a Gold Faceted Gem.  Then I finished up with a single Rhinestone Basic Jewel!  And that was it – easy peasy!

On the inside, I added another strip of the Delightful Daisy DSP to the bottom of a Whisper White panel with Liquid Glue.  I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Basic Black mat, wrapped another length of Basic Black 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon around the seam and secured it in the back with Fast Fuse.

I Fast Fuse’d the inner liner into my Thick Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

On the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I stamped the daisy image from Daisy Delight twice in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Then I added a stamped-off-once Calypso Coral middle and sponged lightly in a circle with Peekaboo Peach…

…and I added some more of the Delightful Daisy DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  A clean and simple design for you to copy using any of your DSP that you like!  You can make lots of thank you cards with your Stampapotamus helping to get perfect alignment every time.  I love the pretty font on this sentiment from Charming Cafe!  And, of course, incorporating the Daisy Delight and Daisy Punch is always a good idea.  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

If you have an Aussie in your life – you become very used to looking for ways to entertain them.  It’s a 25 hour a day job.

Fortunately, my Aussie-boy likes to sleep for 10-11 hours of those 25.

But – the rest of the time, he’d like to have something to do!

And we’re not talking sedate walks, either.

I mean…I need a few sheep or goats or some ducks.

Barring those (ain’t gonna happen!) – we look for anything that might occupy that brain of his.

Enter…the grooming stool!

I spied it this morning while I was doing the barn chores…and pulled it out.

He was so good!  I just pointed to the stool and he put his front feet up!

Then I pointed and asked him to get all the way up!

And – he did!  Look how happy he is with himself!

And then, I told him to sit (from where I was taking the picture) – thinking surely he’d jump off.

But…

There.  I did it!  I entertained him!

For 15 seconds…. 😉

  1. As soon as I got to the “Stampapotamus” part, I knew I should not take a sip of coffee until the end of the read. I’m so glad I listened to myself because when I got to the pic of Finn, I laughed out loud! What a talented Aussie he is! I know you are good to him; otherwise, he be off to join the circus. Your card is wonderful. That DSP speaks for itself and that is my favorite ribbon. Easy peasy but elegant at the same time. Love how you colored the daisy. Have a great weekend.

    • Glad you were able to avoid a coffee-snort-incident! 🙂 Thanks so much, Karen – and have a wonderful weekend, too! 🙂

  2. Beautiful card Mary! Love the colors and design! Cute pictures of Finn too! 🙂

  3. Pat Christ

Such a good boy, and so funny. His “performance” reminded me of elephants at the circus!
Pretty card, easy layout. Another CASE!

  4. Kate

    Love the daisies.
The goat-in-Finn surfaces yet again. “We are easily amused” comes to mind.

  5. Stampapotamus?? Circus dog? What has this website become? 🙂
Pretty card. Love that sentiment font. Wish there were more like it. I am not sure whether I follow you because I like you, or because I like the dog, or because you make pretty cards, or just for the humor!
Perhaps it is a combination of all. Yeah, that’s it, a combination. Leave out any of the elements and you have…..my blog!
You just keep things interesting. Thanks. Love it.

  6. Lynda Goff

He is such a cutie!!! Love your FFF everyday. Thanks for sharing.

  7. Denise Stoner

Mary, Your cards are awesome!! I have not seen a one that I have not liked or usually love. Now about Finn… what a sweetie he is. I just want to hug him, he is something else. TFS!!!

    • Oh – that’s very kind, Denise! And it makes me very happy indeed to hear it! 🙂 🙂 🙂 And you’re right. Finn is a super huggable sweetie. And he has to put up with lots of hugs. Fortunately – he kind of likes them! 🙂

  8. Your card is so pretty!!! I always look forward to seeing the pretty cards you create. As for Finn LOL I loveeee all posts about him. He is such a cool dog. Lots of fun character in him.. He is a keeper and a winner for sure!…

    • Thank you very much, Tam! I’m glad you enjoy my creations! And yes – I was the big winner when I brought him home! 🙂
