Stampin’ Up! Charming Cafe Bundle Thank You!

Well, it’s Monday again, folks!  Funny how that just keeps happening.  Hope you had a great weekend!  We did, here in GA – other than the ridiculous cold.  I got my shares all cut up and they’ll go out soon!

If you were able to join me last night on my Facebook Live video – thanks so much for spending part of your weekend with me!  I’ve missed doing the videos and spending a little virtual time with y’all, so it was great to get back in the groove!  If you weren’t able to watch and would like to see the video, here’s the link to it on YouTube!

I made a thank-you card for some horsey friends of mine – a couple and their two boys.  So – I wanted a little bit of flower-dy-ness but not too much froo-froo.  I called upon the new Charming Cafe stamp set and the bundled Cafe Builder Framelits (the bundle is available in Wood or Clear mount) and I added some Wood Textures DSP.  Take a look-see:

My layout – and the wood elements – were inspired by the Fusion Challenge.

I was also playing along with the TGIF Color Challenge this week.

I started with a light piece of Wood Textures DSP and matted it on a Night of Navy mat with Fast Fuse.  I used a darker piece and adhered it over the top of that with Liquid Glue and that was the card front.

I layered a piece of Fresh Fig 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon and one of Night of Navy 3/8″ Corduroy Ribbon over the seam – securing them both in the back with scotch tape.

For the art/sentiment, I inked the image from the Charming Cafe stamp set in Island Indigo, then I sponged the edges with Fresh Fig with a Sponge Dauber and stamped it on Very Vanilla.  I cut it out with a Circles Layering Framelits die and used my Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Marker to make faux stitches.  Then I adhered the stamped sentiment to the card front with Liquid Glue.

The flowers are also from the Charming Cafe – stamped with Early Espresso on Very Vanilla.  I cut the frame out with the matching dies (there are two to make the frame – and then snipped off the connecting pieces.

I colored the flowers with my Stampin’ Write Markers in Fresh Fig, Night of Navy and Island Indigo (I also used my Blender Pen and the lid of my Fresh Fig ink pad – you can see that in the video).  When they were all colored, I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop them over the top of the circle.

The sentiment banner is Very Vanilla – stamped in Night of Navy with a second sentiment from Charming Cafe.  I snipped the ends into banners with my Paper Snips, colored the edges with my Fresh Fig Marker and popped it on with a double-layer of Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Finally, I colored a White Perfect Accent with my Dark Night of Navy Stampin’ Blend, stuck it on as a little accent – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added the flowers from Charming Cafe to the Very Vanilla inner liner using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig and stamping it twice in Early Espresso.  Then I colored the flowers the same as I’d done on the front.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel onto a Night of Navy mat and into my Island Indigo card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more of the Charming Cafe flowers on the front…

…and some Wood Textures DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love this Charming Cafe bundle – it’s another one that caught everyone’s eye at OnStage when it was introduced!  And I think it plays very nicely with the Wood Textures DSP and Night of Navy ribbon from the True Gentleman suite, don’t you?  I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

The requirement to entertain an Aussie is pretty much weather-proof.

Like the mail.

Neither rain, nor sleet nor…well, you get the drift.

So – we Aussie parents have to look for things to do inside – like kids on a snow day!

Fortunately, the Man is up for a game of tug anytime – anywhere!  And he’s not shy about requesting a round…

Turns out recliner-tug works pretty well – but ya gotta get all the way up on the foot-rest…

To get the best purchase and try to beat your Mom.

He gives no quarter, y’all.  Mom-schmom.

It’s all about winning!

And he does.  Frequently.  He’s a stout dude – and when he gets leverage?!  Two hands – braced feet – a vice grip?…nuthin’!  I’m going down!

  1. Quite the entertainer that boy! I think your card is gender neutral and I enjoyed being in your presence last night. It took the edge off what I have been working on for the past three days…getting my cards organized on the computer and in real life. Now I have to go through each category pile and make sure they all have insides…one of my resolutions for 2018. It’s a tug of war for me…lazy, not lazy…when it comes to making insides.

    • He’s always good for a smile or a full on laugh! Angel-with-fur! Organization – absolutely my worst thing. I felt pretty righteous last night – I actually FINISHED the envelope when the video ended so I’d have a “real” card in my stash!! Score!! Thanks much, Karen – it was good to have you onboard last night! 🙂

  2. Great card. Enjoyed the video last night. And, went back and watched the hilarious sledding Aussie!
When I saw the TGIF color challenge, I thought, ‘Nah!’, but you nailed it. Love that you used the Wood Textures DSP too.

    • Aww – thanks, Julie! I loved that color combo!! And I love the Wood Textures DSP, too – one of my all-time favorites! 🙂

  3. Beautiful card Mary! Enjoyed the video too…well, all except the Sound of Music reference. 😉 Now I can’t get that awful song out of my head!! The rocking has commenced and the movie isn’t even playing!! 😀

    • The Hiiiiiiiiiiilllllllssssss are aliiiiveee….with the Sound of Muuuuuuuuuusssiiiiiiiiccccc……ahh-ahhh-ah-ahhhhh….. 🙂 Rock, Amy, ROCK! LOL Thanks so much – it was great having you on last night! 🙂 🙂 🙂

  4. Wow, there is lots and lots of awesomeness on this card. The mix of wood DSP and the layers of ribbon is to die for yummy. Thanks for creating in our colors of the week at TGIF. Smiles, Elizabeth

  5. Kate

Pretty card and not too flower-dy.
    Pretty determined Aussie-look!. 😃

  6. Oh I love how you have used the Wood Elements with these colours. Gorgeous

  7. Great take on the challenge! Thanks so much for playing along with the Fusion challenge 🙂
