Stampin’ Up! Plaid Watercolor Christmas!

Happy Hawwmp Day, y’all!  Hope you’re all ready for T-day tomorrow.  I’ll be egg-boiling and potato smooshing and broccoli cooking today in preparation for the big day!  And I’m sure Finn will be right underfoot – helping! 🙂

My card today is a Christmas offering using the Watercolor Christmas stamp set and some Quilted Christmas DSP in wonderful Real Red plaid.  Take a look-see:

The layout was inspired by the sketch at the Global Design Project this week – I just turned it on its side!

I started by Fast Fusing a piece of plaid Quilted Christmas DSP to a Garden Green mat for the card front.

To make the window-paned sentiment, I stamped the Watercolor Wishes sentiment in Garden Green on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  Then I sliced it into 6 little rectangles.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the window panes to a piece of Garden Green card stock, with just tiny gaps between them, and then trimmed the whole thing down to size.  I could have tried to do the math, but…no.  Not this day.  Wasn’t happening.  So, I just eyeballed and trimmed! 🙂

I wrapped a length of Basic Black Solid Baker’s Twine three times around the panel, securing it in the back with scotch tape.  I pulled the three strands together in about the middle of the panel – holding them in place with a Glue Dot.

I popped the sentiment panel over the twine with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Using some Fast Fuse and Stampin’ Dimensionals, I adhered two Stitched Felt Embellishments to the card front.  Then I tied a bow from some Real Red 1/8″ Solid Ribbon and adhered it with a little dab of Fast Fuse.  Over that, with a Glue Dot, I added a double-length bow in Black Solid Baker’s Twine.

I stuck on a large Black Rhinestone Jewel in the middle of the bow, added a smaller one by the sentiment and the card front was done!

On the inside, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add a second sentiment from Watercolor Wishes in Real Red ink to a Whisper White panel.  Then I added some little trees from Watercolor Christmas in Garden Green.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Garden Green mat and then into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got some more Garden Green trees from Watercolor Christmas across the front…

…and a bit more of the plaid Quilted Christmas paper on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love the fonts in this Watercolor Christmas stamp set, don’t you?  And the three little tree images that go with them…too cute!  Hope you like! 🙂

Finn-Fan-Fix

Finn and I did a little obedience tuning up on Tuesday.  We’d been gone for several hours and he needed to DO something, Mom.

DO anything!

Oh.  Obedience?  Hmmmm….

Weeeellll….okay!  So we heeled and sat and stayed and downed (-ish!) for a while.  Clicker and treats at the ready.

And then – we played some fetch.

Which is, of course, what he was after in the first place!!

    Thank you 🦃

  2. I like that you turned the sketch on its side. The use of the DSP for the background is not overpowering with the white inchies. I never would have learned that word if it hadn’t been for you. The Finkles wish the Deatherages a Happy Thanksgiving. Sounds like some good fixin’s.

  3. Cute card! Love the little felt embellishments. 🙂 Cute pictures of Finn with his little stick. 🙂

  4. Sandra Warthen

Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving surrounded by people you love. Happy day dear friend.

  5. Kate

    Plaid winner!
Obedient-ish is probably miles ahead of the rest for the Finn. His happy heart shows!

    Hi Mary,
Have to tell you that your posts have a decidedly chippier tune this morning.
Being home and Finn agree with you.
LOVE the card. Love the photos. Enjoy Tday.

    • LOL – I do believe you’re right!! I am much happier home any more! And Finn – well. Hard to be down when he’s around! Thanks so much, Paula! 🙂 Have a very Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂

  7. Pat Christ

Sweet card, Mary. Love everything on it, especially the gingham dsp.
Your Finn is way too cute! Give his neck a big turkey day hug for me! 🦃
    HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

  8. Really cute card. ‘Course, it has plaid so I automatically like it. I haven’t had a chance to use any of my Quilted Christmas. Soon!
Finn is adorable whether or not he is obedient. Hugs and Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

  9. Susan K

Love your take on the sketch. Very pretty! Love those felt embellishments–I had to look twice at them! Hope it’s a special Thanksgiving, being home! Happy to have FFF back!

    • Thanks so much, Susan! They’re cute, aren’t they?? We’ll have a good day, I’m sure. Hope that you will as well! Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂
