Stampin’ Up! Window Shopping For a Birthday Tasty Treat and a Blog Candy Winner!

Happy Saturday, y’all!  Hope you’re having a good weekend.  My plan for the day includes a hair cut – and I’m more than ready.  It’s driving me crazy!  Did y’all see the news coverage about the huge fire on I-85 that resulted in part of the highway collapsing!?  That stretch of our most congested commute thoroughfare is going to be closed for a long time – some estimates are thru the Fall!  So…traffic is going to be a bear everywhere as folks adjust and find new routes.  Which is always fun to think about, heh??

My card for today uses the fun Window Shopping stamp set, and I added a little Tasty Treats Specialty DSP to make a sweet birthday card.  See what I did there? 🙂

Take a look-see:

I used the Mojo Monday sketch this week for my layout (I turned it on the side…):

And the soft color palette is from these yummy looking cupcakes at the Cupcakes Inspiration Challenge.

I started with a piece of Whisper White card stock and, using the little splotches image in the Playful Backgrounds stamp set, I stamped all over it in Pink Pirouette and stamped-off-once Soft Sky and Mint Macaron.  I was channeling the sprinkles on the cupcakes!  When I had as many sprinkles as I wanted, I SNAILd the panel to a Mint Macaron mat.

I SNAILd a piece of Chocolate Chip paper from the Tasty Treats Specialty DSP to a piece of Mint Macaron card stock and SNAILd it to the card front.  Over that I adhered a Lace Doily white-side-up with Liquid Glue.

I wrapped a piece of Blushing Bride 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the card front, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

My sentiment, from the Window Shopping stamp set, is stamped in Chocolate Chip ink on a piece of Whisper White.  I added the little cupcake images – also from Window Shopping! – in Pink Pirouette and Mint Macaron.

I SNAILd the panel to a Mint Macaron mat and popped it on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals  To finish it off, I added a “faux bow” by snugly tying a short piece of the Blushing Bride 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon.

On the inside, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add a second sentiment from Window Shopping in Chocolate Chip in to a Whisper White panel.  I added a couple more Pink Pirouette cupcakes by the sentiment.

I SNAILd the panel to a Mint Macaron panel and into a Pink Pirouette card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!

On the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added Window Shopping cupcakes across the bottom in Pink Pirouette and Mint Macaron…

…and added some more Playful Backgrounds splotches in Pink Pirouette and stanped-off-once Soft Sky and Mint Macaron to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Easy, peasy and tasty, too!  I love the bold sentiments in the Window Shopping stamp set and, of course, they also coordinate with the beautiful Window Box Framelits. Hope you like!  If you don’t have this bundle in your tool box, hurry to get it before the Occasions Catalog goes away at the end of May!

FINN-FAN FIX….

I suppose I’ve probably mentioned to y’all that my ponies (I include Bo in the “ponies” group) like peppermints.  “Like” being too lukewarm a word for their obsessive love of peppermints!

And – have I also mentioned that Finn likes whatever the horses like?

Carrots?  Feed?  Pills? 😉

Well.  He also like peppermints.

What’s good for the goose, Mom…

So….I’m a bad mom.  In the morning, I give him a peppermint.  You would, too, if that face was gazing up at you so pitifully!

Just one.  And only in the morning.  And he takes it so politely and gently.

And then CHOMP – SMACK – CRUNCH – CHECK ALL AROUND FOR ANY FALLEN MORSELS….look up at Mom – is this the day she gives me two?!? 😉

He.  Loves.  Them.

In the evening – here’s my proof that I’m only a bad mom, not a terrible mom! – he sits politely and eats two pieces of carrot that he purloins from the girls.

What’s up with those ears??!

He takes these just as politely…

And then CHOMP – SMACK – CRUNCH – CHECK ALL AROUND FOR ANY FALLEN MORSELS….look up at Mom – is this the day she gives me three?!? 😉

Stampin’ Up! Artisan Cool Treats!

Hey, y’all!  Happy Saturday to you.  Hope you’ve got a great weekend ahead of you!

My card for today uses the Cool Treat bundle and a little bit of Tasty Treats Specialty DSP to make a fun little card that’d be good for any special day for a special friend.  Take a look-see:

My sketch is from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge – I just turned it on its side.

And the color scheme is from The Card Concept.

I started by SNAILing two pieces of Tasty Treats Specialty DSP to Pear Pizzazz card stock and then I SNAILd the smaller panel to the card front.

The sentiment, from Cool Treats, is two separate stamped images.  I stamped the first word in Pear Pizzazz on a Whisper White panel.  Then the second word is stamped in Pool Party – easy to line up, since this is a photopolymer stamp set.  Then I SNAILd the panel to a Pear Pizzazz mat.

Next I made my artisan ice cream cone.  This isn’t ice cream you’re going to get at the grocery store.  This is boutique ice cream!  I stamped two scoops on Whisper White – one in stamped-off-once Pear Pizzazz (I suspect this is Mojito flavor) and one in Pool Party (Daiquiri Ice – yes, I have a cocktail theme going on here!).  Then I cut them both out with the matching die in the Frozen Treats Framelits.  The cone is cut from a piece of Crumb Cake card stock.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere the ice cream onto the cone.

I made some gourmet “sauce” by cutting it from some Mint Macaron Glimmer Paper, then I adhered it to the top scoop.

Since this is a grown-up ice cream cone, I decided it needed some edible flowers sprinkled on top.  I stamped one in Pear Pizzazz and two in Pool Party – these little flowers are from the Jar of Love stamp set.  Since I didn’t want any white on them, I just went ahead and fussy cut them.  Then I adhered the Pool Party flowers with Liquid Glue and then popped the Pear Pizzazz flower on with a little piece of Stampin’ Dimensional.  I finished them off with a tiny Pearl Basic Embellishment.

I adhered the cone to the sentiment panel with Liquid Glue, then popped the whole thing onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then I added a little bow made with a piece of Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine.

On the inside, I stamped a Pool Party ice cream scoop in the corner of a Whisper White panel.  Then I stuck a sticky note mask over top, and stamped the cone dish in Crumb Cake.  The sentiment, also from the Cool Treats stamp set, is stamped in Pear Pizzazz and embellished with a Pool Party flower from Jar of Love.  And, I added another little pour of Mint Macaron Glimmer Paper.

I SNAILd the panel to a Pear Pizzazz mat and into my Crumb Cake card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a reprise of the Daiquiri Ice scoop and cup, complete with Mint Macaron Glimmer Paper sauce, plus some Pool Party flowers on the front…

…and the envelope flap got some more of the Tasty Treats Specialty DSP.

Et Voila!  I think the quiet color scheme helped the Cool Treats bundle create a very grown-up ice cream card for a special someone! Hope you like!

FINN-FAN FIX….

I own a guard dog.

He’s got baggy pantaloons.

He’s a little bit goofy (don’t know how that happened – I specified Not Goofy).

He sheds.  Like crazy.

But.  I do believe he’d at least warn of impending doom.

The other day, as I was channeling Carol Brady Alice (let’s be real – I don’t think Carol knew the difference between a chuck roast and a salmon), Ree Drummond and June Cleaver – putting a pot roast in the oven in anticipation of Wayne’s return home, my goofball started barking and growling!  BIG dog barks and growls!

I went to see what the problem was, thinking it was the horses coming to the pond for a drink and splash.  But, no.  There were guys at our neighbors, with a skid steer and chain saw and riding lawn mowers.  They were wearing orange jackets.

And they were obviously suspect.

He realized it was going to take a while to adequately keep his eye on these potential bad guys.  Being the man of the house and all.  So he paced himself…

But, as with all things when you’re just a kid, interest was soon lost.  Mom was aware of the problem.  She was a pilot, you know.  She could probably handle a few guys in orange jackets…

A kid’s gotta eat! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Cool Tasty Treats!

Happy Monday, y’all!  Once again I’ll say I hope this finds you safe!  Quite the weather weekend we had, yes?  As I write this on Sunday night, I can say we got off lucky.  We did find a tree down over our perimeter fence – thank goodness for smooth wire!  And a huge branch on the wood fence.  So a little work for Wayne. 🙁  But overall, so far so good.

Finn’s definitely learned a new skill from this wet weather.  It’s the fine art of standing still while your mom tries to dry off all your fur.  Every.  Time.  He.  Comes.  In.  Bleh!  The downside of having a dog!!  But, on the flip side, the rain water is making his coat all silky and shiny! 🙂

He’s ready for the nice weather again, I know.  He’s a little bored.

And you know what happens when a teenager gets bored….

Yea.

You know.

finn-blur
He’s a little cray-cray! 🙂

My card for today is one that depends heavily on some of the pretty Tasty Treats Specialty DSP.  I let the paper do the work and just added a sentiment from the Cool Treats stamp set and a few little embellishments.  Take a look-see:
