Stampin’ Up! Cool Tasty Treats!

Happy Monday, y’all!  Once again I’ll say I hope this finds you safe!  Quite the weather weekend we had, yes?  As I write this on Sunday night, I can say we got off lucky.  We did find a tree down over our perimeter fence – thank goodness for smooth wire!  And a huge branch on the wood fence.  So a little work for Wayne. 🙁  But overall, so far so good.

Finn’s definitely learned a new skill from this wet weather.  It’s the fine art of standing still while your mom tries to dry off all your fur.  Every.  Time.  He.  Comes.  In.  Bleh!  The downside of having a dog!!  But, on the flip side, the rain water is making his coat all silky and shiny! 🙂

He’s ready for the nice weather again, I know.  He’s a little bored.

And you know what happens when a teenager gets bored….

Yea.

You know.

He’s a little cray-cray! 🙂

My card for today is one that depends heavily on some of the pretty Tasty Treats Specialty DSP.  I let the paper do the work and just added a sentiment from the Cool Treats stamp set and a few little embellishments.  Take a look-see:

The layout comes from the Fusion Elements challenge…

I started with two pieces of the Tasty Treats Specialty DSP (a full piece of Pear Pizzaz design and a smaller piece of the glossy fruit design) and used Liquid Glue to adhere them together to create my layered card front.  These are SNAILd to an Early Espresso mat.

In the top corner, I used a folded over length of Watermelon Wonder 5/8″ Mini Striped Ribbon which I fastened to the card front with a new white Mini Paperclip.  Over that, with a Glue Dot, I adhered a small bow made from a piece of Whisper White Thick Baker’s Twine.

My sentiment, from the Cool Treats stamp set, is stamped in Watermelon Wonder on a piece of Whisper White and cut with a Stitched Shapes Framelits.

Then it’s matted on two mats – one of the Pear Pizzaz paper from the Tasty Treats DSP and one of Early Espresso.  I popped the layered sentiment on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The little strawberry embellishment is cut with the die from the Frozen Treats Framelits.  I cut two of them – one in Watermelon Wonder and one in Pear Pizzazz.  Then I snipped the leaf top off the Watermelon Wonder die cut and used a little Liquid Glue to adhere them together.

With that, the card front was done!

On the inside, I adhered a strip of fruity DSP, matted on the Pear Pizzaz DSP to the side of a Whisper White panel.  Then I stamped a second sentiment from Cool Treats in Watermelon Wonder.

Yea.  I see it.  The sentiment is crookedy….could we all just pretend I meant it to be that way? Please? 😉

I SNAILd the panel to a piece of Pear Pizzazz Tasty Treats DSP, then to an  Early Espresso mat and into my Watermelon Wonder card base.  Then I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I used the little strawberry stamp in the Cool Treats stamp set to add three to the front of the envelope in Watermelon Wonder.  I also used the “seeds” image to add seeds in Whisper White Craft Ink and Pear Pizzazz to add the leafy tops…

…and then added some more of the Tasty Treats Specialty DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This is such pretty paper – you just want to keep it simple and let it shine on it’s own!  I love the sentiment and the oh-so-cute die cut Strawberry!  This is a really fun little bundle, don’t you think?  Hope you like!

  1. Another cute card that is giving me ideas! Mary, when you do your envelope flap, do you use a die or cut free hand with a template? Have a great week.

    • Thanks, Karen! And for the envelope flap: run a thin line of Liquid Glue around the edge of the flap and lay the DSP on it – aligning the edge of the paper with the top of the flap. Give it a good rub all over to make sure it’s stuck, then fussy-cut the excess! 🙂

  2. That’s awesome Mary! I love the clean design and that paper is perfect with your sentiment. 🙂 I’m ready for some dry weather too! 🙂

    GOOOOOD

Oh I love this card! And I have some of that ribbon!! That little strawberry is too cute! I made some two-tone pumpkins once by butting a strip of Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive together and adhering them with Tear and Tape, turned it over and placed the die with the pumpkin part on the PP and the stem part on the OO. After cutting it out – you can peel and stick it down😉 I felt somewhat clever after figuring that out – thought I’d share☺️ Hope it dries out soon – soggy doggies – ugh!!

  5. Mom

Glad no more destruction! Hmmm. Drying the dog coat. Well, let me just say, that compared to bathing your cat or giving her a pill? Walk in the park. 😃
Fun card. Soon be strawberrysweet time again.

  6. Really cool card Mary. I love that little strawberry on the sentiment panel !!
