Stampin’ Up! Marquee Messages Shaker Card for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  it’s Thursday and that means it’s Blog Hop Day!  We’ve got a color challenge today – we were asked to use Pool Party, Mossy Meadow and Soft Suede.  Be sure to check out how all the ladies in the hop use these colors in their projects today!

It took me a while to make this card this week.  I’ve been cropping and watermarking and posting new catalog sneak peek pictures.  And – the card I planned to make wanted a new item from my Pre-order.  So, I had the card started and then was waiting for my goodies to arrive.

And then they did.  But so did the notice that my tomatoes and pepper plants had shipped and will be here today!  So, spent most of Wednesday mixing soil and getting the raised beds ready.  And they are!  And, it was way too pretty a day to spend it inside – even to stamp!

So…what was I waiting for in my pre-order?  One of the items that caused a ton of excitement at OnStage last week.  Something that should be so…insignificant…and yet is kind of huge!

Foam Adhesive Strips - Stamps-N-Lingers
Can you see what that is?  That, my friends, is a package of Foam Adhesive Strips!  You’ll get a package of strips – all about 10 – 11″ long (2 sheets per package).  The strips are little – maybe just over 1/8″ wide? – and are double sided.  And they make making shaker cards a snap!

So – using these strips, and a new available-1-June stamp set called Marquee Messages, I combined the colors of the challenge, the new stamp set and some old friends from the current catalog and this is what I came up with.  Take a look-see:Marquee Messages Shaker Birthday 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers
So – I started this one by stamping the Marquee image from the Marquee Messages stamp set in Versamark Ink on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  Then I sprinkled it with love Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed the image.  I fussy cut it – to include the inside.  Just poke your snips thru the middle and then carefully snip your way to the inner edge.  Heat embossing makes fussy cutting easy!  I gave the image a little color with my Pool Party Stampin’ Write Marker.

Stampin’ Up! Vivid Vases Thanks for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  it’s Thursday and that means it’s Blog Hop Day!  If you’ve been here at our Blog Hops before – welcome back, and thank you!  If this is your first time with us, I think you’re in for a treat – we’ve got some really talented ladies in this group.  You’ll like what you see as you tour thru everyone’s blog, I promise!

I’m writing this post on Wednesday night, from the hotel in Salt Lake City!  Amy and I flew in today, had a little lunch and then wandered a bit thru the Tabernacle Gardens.  The flowers are spectacular – all over the downtown area, really, but especially in the garden…

A little later we hit the bus and were taken to the Home Office – which we spent a pleasant hour or so touring and talking to the great folks that work there and help us every day.  Here we are in front of the building entrance – where the Stampin’ Up! rock resides…

So, tomorrow (well, today, when you read this!) is the start of OnStage – I’ll try to send an update with Friday’s card share!

And now – back to our regularly scheduled programming!  On with the Happy Stampers Blog Hop!

We had a challenging challenge today – this sketch was our starting point:

11222532_1305623816130857_1411780771705397773_n
For my share today, I played with an Annual Catalog stamp called Vivid Vases.  Kind of prophetic, really, considering the flowers we’re seeing here!  I added some Farmer’s Market DSP and some Burlap Ribbon and an Expressions Natural Elements sentiment.  Take a look-see:

Vivid Vase Thanks 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers
To begin with, I SNAILd a panel of Farmer’s Market DSP to a Blackberry Bliss card stock mat.  The two banners of the vertical element are more pieces of the Farmer’s Market DSP, trimmed with the Banner Triple Punch – I SNAILd them on a little offset, just cuz I could! 🙂

Vivid Vases Thanks 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

For the Vivid Vases, I first stamped just four of the vases and flowers image onto a piece of Very Vanilla card stock, which I matted on Blackberry Bliss.  I colored the vases I wanted to stamp with my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker – directly to the rubber – and then stamped it on the card stock.  Then I colored the flowers (from left to right) with Tangelo Twist, Blackberry Bliss/Rich Razzleberry, Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey/Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers.

Vivid Vases Thanks 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

For the vases themselves – I stamped the image again a couple of times on a few of the more…decorative!…pieces of the Farmer’s Market DSP and then cut each vase out with my Paper Snips.  I liked how each one got a completely different pattern on it – they look like art glass, to me!  Then, because I knew I was going to pop them with Stampin’ Dimensionals – and needed them to have a little body – I used a little Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere them to a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock.  Then I fussy cut them again!  From there – it was downhill and easy peasy!  Not to say that any of this had been hard to this point.   Just kind of fussy.

See what I did there? 😉

Vivid Vases Thanks 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I SNAILd the vases-stamped Very Vanilla panel to the card front (remember I’d already matted it on Blackberry Bliss).  Then I SNAILd another design in the Farmer’s Market DSP on Blackberry Bliss and SNAILd that to the card front (it’s the piece under “Thanks”).

Over that, I used some more Liquid Glue to adhere a length of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon.  That set me up for the fussy cut Vivid Vases. I cut small pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals and used those to pop each vase over its counterpart (and a little of the Burlap Ribbon) on the Very Vanilla stamped image.  Finally, I wrapped a piece of Blackberry Bliss 5/8″ Striped Cotton Ribbon over the Burlap Ribbon – also covering the bottom edge of the vases – securing it in the back with scotch tape.

Vivid Vases Thanks 8 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I covered the vases on the Vivid Vases stamp with sticky notes, inked up just the sentiment in Mossy Meadow and stamped it on a strip of Very Vanilla.  I then used my Washi Label Punch to punch each end of the strip.  Since this punch is now not available – if you don’t have it already, you could easily do fussy cut banner ends instead!  Then I used a little Liquid Glue to adhere the sentiment to the ribbon.

Vivid Vases Thanks 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I decided to add the “Thanks” from the Expressions Natural Elements set (Annual Catalog), adhering it with lots of little dots of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue!  A tiny bow – made with a length of Linen Thread and one of Gold Metallic Thread – glued onto the vase completed the card front. 🙂

Vivid Vase Thanks 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

For the inside of the card, I used my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to ink up one vase and stamped it in the corner of a Very Vanilla panel.  Then I adhered a fussy cut vase over that with Liquid Glue, and colored the flower with my Hello Honey and Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers.

Vivid Vases Thanks 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I SNAILd the panel to a Blackberry Bliss mat and then into my Mossy Meadow card base.   I also SNAILd the card front on and the card was done!

For the Crumb Cake Medium Envelope, I stamped a Basic Black Vivid Vase in the bottom front corner and colored the flowers and leaves….

Vivid Vases Thanks 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers
…and used another piece of the Farmer’s Market DSP to cut a liner with my Envelope Liner Framelits.

Vivid Vases Thanks 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers
Et Voila!  This card kind of developed as I went along – but the superb color coordination that Stampin’ Up! color suites and DSPs provide make it so easy!  I love this Vivid Vases stamp – it’s a great little a la carte wooden stamp that is just simple and beautiful!  Highly recommend it for your tool box! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! You’re So Lovely Summer Silhouettes and a Blog Candy Winner!

Hello Monday! Hope y’all had a great weekend!

We had a Blog Candy Winner – from a lot of comments. Thanks so much to everyone who stopped by! Read on and I’ll share the winner’s name at the end of this post!

I’ll get right into the share today – won’t waste your time with a lot of blather about non-card-stuff! My card today uses the Summer Silhouettes and You’re So Lovely stamp sets. Very simple and easy – using a sponging technique that I saw on Pinterest. Stamp & Create With Sabrina is the website where I saw the original card that led me to mine today!  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Garden in Bloom Smiles!

Well, good morning! Here we are, half way thru the weekend, getting closer and closer to OnStage next week! Practicing my “whoo-hoo”ing – in preparation for the unveiling of the new 2016-2017 Annual Catalog! Should be pretty exciting. I’m also going to get to tour the home office, so I’m psyched for that, too! 🙂

My share for today uses the very pretty Annual catalog stamp set called Garden in Bloom. It has such pretty flowers – two step and three step images! I added a little sentiment from Greatest Greetings – in the Occasions catalog (hoping it makes it into the new catalog!). And, when you add in Birthday Bouquet DSP, this is what you get. Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Helping Me Grow Thanks!

Happy Weekend! Hope that you’re fixin’ to do something fun. Or industrious! Or – if you’re really really good….something fun and industrious! I have no idea what that something could possibly be….maybe gardening? Training your puppy? Certainly not vacuuming! Or anything in the “housecleaning” category – that for sure fails as a “fun” anything! 🙁

My card today is a super simple one – almost a one stamp set card! I used the Occasions catalog set called Helping Me Grow on some Birthday Bouquet DSP. Add in a tiny sentiment from One Big Meaning, and….take a look-see:

I was playing along with the Can You CASE It sketch challenge #114 – but I missed the deadline to enter! 🙁 Here’s the sketch that inspired my layout, nonetheless. Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Botanical Playful Pals

Good Morning – it’s Friday again! Wow – time is just flying by, isn’t it? Only 5 more days until we leave for OnStage. End of the month is fast approaching as well, which will bring a trip to Savannah and the arrival of tomato and pepper plants – all ready for transplanting!  Hopefully not all at the same time! 🙂

Do y’all know about a company called Territorial Seeds?  If you like to garden and grow veggies in the summer (or fall or whenever!) this is a great source of seed and – what I love! – plants!  You can select when you want them to arrive, based on the best time for your neck of the woods.  Then they come all cozy in their packaging – some of the best I’ve ever seen – and they’re ready to harden off and plant.  This will be my third year using them (I get nothing from this – I just really like them!) and have had superb results every year.  Just throwin’ that out there! 🙂

So, the last time we had a meeting with Amy Koenders, she gave us all a little gift – like she always does!  This time around, I picked the Playful Pals stamp set, bundled with the Pyramid Pals Thinlits.  I finally decided to get it out and play with it.  I added some Botanical Gardens DSP and a flower from the Botanical Builder, and this is what I came up with.  Take a look-see:

Botanical Playful Pals 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

LOL, I love how the frog has a sort of goofy expression on his face – he’s obviously tickled for having snagged him a little snackerel – and maybe he even wants to present it to the birthday girl or boy as a special gift! Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Rose Garden Wonder for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  it’s Thursday and that means it’s Blog Hop Day!  Today is a color challenge – and it was, for me, a true “challenge”!  Hang on a sec and you’ll see.  Our whole team is in on the hop today, so…please take a minute to check them all out, okay? 🙂

Our challenge today was to use Basic Black, Whisper White and Sahara Sand:

12310458_1305623549464217_217907950291163936_n

I stewed a bit on how to make this card and deal with this particular set of colors.  I’ve used Sahara Sand as my primary color in the past, but for some reason it stymied my today.  I finally just did some thumbing thru my DSPs and I stumbled upon the Timeless Elegance DSP.  Black, White, Sahara Sand.  That’s it!  So, that helped.

Then I gravitated towards the Rose Garden thinlit – it just sort of says “elegant” to me, so I figured I’d stick to the theme.  And, of course, the coordinating Rose Wonder stamp set, chock full of beautiful sentiments, sat ready to help me out.  So…when I put them all together, here’s what I came up with!  Take a look-see:

Rose Garden Thoughts and Prayers 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

And it’s pretty darned easy to make, too!  I started by cutting two of the large die cuts from the Rose Garden Thinlits – one each in Basic Black and Whisper White.  I’d love to tell you it’s cuz I knew right off the bat what my plan was for the card, but in fact I was not at all sure!  I’d thought I’d use the white on the outside, but…well.  As you can see, that’s not where it ended up! Stampin’ Up! Cottage Greetings In the Meadow Silhouette and…Blog Candy!

Happy Hawmp Day, y’all!  Days are just flying by – one short week from today, Amy Koenders and I will be winging our way West to attend OnStage Live in Salt Lake!  Where we’re going to get to see the new 2016-2017 Annual Catalog!  Yikes – can you believe it’s that time already?!?  That, of course, means it’s almost time to say good-bye to the current catalog and the 2016 Occasions Catalog – the retiring list will be released on 18 April (right after OnStage).  So, you’ll want to be thinking about getting stocked up!

Well, today was productive.  I updated my Inventory Spreadsheet, alphabetized my stamp sets, and got a new Office Chair!  Yeah!  It actually has padded parts – and it swivels.  And will roll – once I get one of those plastic mat things you put over the carpet.  Makes a huge difference over that wooden kitchen chair I’ve been sitting in.  It’s the little things, isn’t it?

So, the card I have to share with you today is a quick and easy, Clean and Simple birthday card, using one of my favorite Occasions stamp sets – In the Meadow.  And one of the pretty sentiments from Cottage Greetings.  Take a look-see:
