Stampin’ Up! Helping Me Grow Thanks!

Happy Weekend! Hope that you’re fixin’ to do something fun. Or industrious! Or – if you’re really really good….something fun and industrious! I have no idea what that something could possibly be….maybe gardening? Training your puppy? Certainly not vacuuming! Or anything in the “housecleaning” category – that for sure fails as a “fun” anything! 🙁

My card today is a super simple one – almost a one stamp set card! I used the Occasions catalog set called Helping Me Grow on some Birthday Bouquet DSP. Add in a tiny sentiment from One Big Meaning, and….take a look-see:

I was playing along with the Can You CASE It sketch challenge #114 – but I missed the deadline to enter! 🙁 Here’s the sketch that inspired my layout, nonetheless.

CYCI #114

I started by cutting a piece of Mint Macaron card stock to the size of my card front (4″ x 5 1/4″). I cut the same size from a piece of the Birthday Bouquet DSP and then determined where I needed to cut to match the sketch.  I started the cut at 1 3/8″ down from the top right corner and cut diagonally to a spot 3/4″ up from the bottom left corner.  I SNAILd the cut piece of DSP right over the Mint Macaron panel.

I wanted some texture, so I ran the entire panel thru the Big Shot in the Softly Falling TIEF, then I matted the whole thing on a piece of Blushing Bride card stock.

The three little art squares were easy.  I stamped the multi-stemmed flower from Helping Me Grow in Mint Macaron on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  I added the hyacinth image next to it.  Then, I repeated the same image “picture” twice more on the Whisper White card stock.  Using a small square from the Squares Collection Framelits, I cut out three parts of my stamped “picture”.  I tried for three different areas, but wanted something in each square with some interest.  So….not all stem!

Once I had them cut, I double matted them on Mint Macaron and Blushing Bride.  I spent a little time deciding how I wanted each one oriented – “artsy”? – maybe one turned sideways?  Upside down?  Or just regular.  Much more like “me”.   I’ve never liked it in movies where they turn the camera half upside down, either!  As you can see, I settled on “regular”!

The top and bottom square, I SNAILd to the card front.  Then I popped the middle square on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment is from One Big Meaning – I stamped it in Mint Macaron on a scrap of Blushing Bride and cut it out with with the Word Window Punch.  I edged it with the Mint Macaron Stampin’ Write Marker and then stuck it on with a little Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

I used a couple of Glue Dots to adhere a Botanical Garden Jewel next to the sentiment.

At that point, I thought I was done – but the top half of the card was looking a little bare.  So I pulled out the more ornate corner image stamp from Helping Me Grow, and stamped it in Mint Macaron in the two top corners.  I held my breath as I did it – I had the sinking feeling it wasn’t going to stamp well over the embossing.  And if it hadn’t – the would have put paid to the whole card front!

Fortunately, the crafting fairies were sitting on my shoulder – the good ones, not the ones who get ink smudges where you don’t want them and adhere your DSP all crookedy on your card stock mats! – and the stamp worked just fine.  So that was it for the card front! 🙂

On the inside, I stamped more of the Helping Me Grow flower image in Mint Macaron on a Whisper White panel.

Then I just matted it on Blushing Bride and SNAILd it into my Whisper White card base.  I popped the front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals – and the card was done!

The Medium Whisper White Envelope quite simply got more Mint Macaron flowers on the front…

…and a Birthday Bouquet DSP liner, cut with my Envelope Liner Framelits!

Et Voila!  Very simple card – it lets the beautiful images from Helping Me Grow do the work, along with the ever-gorgeous Birthday Bouquet DSP!  I hope that you like it and will give this technique (stamp an image three times and cut 3 different parts of it for your art focal point!) a try! 🙂

Blog Candy – entries are still open!  You’ve got until 8pm eastern tomorrow night to get entered for….

  1. What a pretty card Mary! Love the three panels with the flower images. Bummer on missing the deadline for the challenge, I’ve done that may times myself!

  2. Thanks, Amy! Yep – my own fault. Had it all ready – just got too far ahead (first time EVER) and had too many to post in too short a time!

  3. Mom

This is a great card…one I might even be able to do.
About that cleaning thing…”if you have time to do it, you aren’t reading enough”. 😃

  4. Ha!! I’ve got plenty of time. Just no wanna! Thanks Mom – and yes, you could do this! 🙂
