Stampin’ Up! Bird Ballads and Tasteful Textures for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hey y’all – it’s Thursday, so it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!!  Today’s Hop is a sketch challenge – and I’m excited to see what everyone comes up with –  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop!

I pulled out the Tasteful Textures stamp set and bundled Detailed Textures Dies and combined them with some Bird Ballad DSP and the sweet little bird from the Free as a Bird stamp set.  Take a look-see:

…and…here’s our sketch! 🙂

I love the angled panels – one of my favorite designs!

I started with some flower-dy paper from the Bird Ballad DSP and matted it on Basic Black for the card front.

In the middle of a smaller piece of Basic Black, I cut the flower image using the die in the Detailed Textures set.  Then I used a second piece of Bird Ballad DSP and that die cut panel to create the angled design – adhering them with Liquid Glue.

I wrapped a length of new Very Vanilla 3/8″ Scalloped Lace Trim around the panel, securing it in the back with Glue Dots.

From a piece of Shimmer Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper, I cut one of the flower – leaf – berry designs.  Then I cut it down a little and adhered part with the Vanilla side up and a couple of pieces with the White side up with Liquid Glue.

The sentiment, from Tasteful Textures, is stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on the Bird Ballad DSP and cut out with a Stitched Nested Label die.

In the upper corner of the sentiment label, I stamped the feet of the bird from Free as a Bird in Tuxedo Black.  Then I popped the label onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On a seperate piece of Whisper White, I stamped the Free as a Bird bird in Tuxedo Black and colored him with my Dark So Saffron and Light Pool Party and Coastal Cabana Stampin’ Blends.  Then I fussy cut him – just cutting his legs off.

I adhered the bird to the label with Liquid Glue – using Dimensionals under him as well.

I used a Glue Dot to adhere a leaf from the Bird Ballad Trinkets and a bow from the Very Vanilla 3/8″ Scalloped Lace Trim.

I added a single Pearl Basic Jewel and the card front was done!

For the inside, I inked the flower image from Tasteful Textures in Powder Pink, stamped it off once on scrap paper and then stamped it in the center of a Whisper White panel.  Over that I added a second sentiment in Tuxedo Black.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Basic Black mat and into a Daffodil Delight card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a full strength Powder Pink flower image from Tasteful Textures on the front…

…and more of the flower-dy Bird Ballad DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love how Bird Ballad – with its sweet flowers and chickadee (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!) and the Tasteful Textures bundle came together to create a unashamedly feminine card!  I hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Bird Ballad Sneak Peek For a Friend

Morning, all!  Happy weekend!  Are you all on your way to see Avengers Endgame?  I am NOT – not cuz I don’t want to (I most desperately DO!) – but because there’s barely a ticket to be had!  One of the guys went to the special early release showing on Thursday night – and he gave it two thumbs up.  I’m really hoping to go next weekend!

One little admin note before we get to the card – I will NOT be doing my FB Live tonight! I have a previous engagement and won’t be around.  So…we’ll get together TOMORROW night – Sunday, at 7 pm Eastern.  Okey dokey?  Hopefully the hotel internet will cooperate.  If not – take heart…in theory I’ll be home in a couple of weeks and we won’t have to worry about sharing bandwidth with everyone ELSE trying to stream their videos!

Okay – let’s get it, shall we?  My card today is yet another Sneak Peek (I can’t help it very much – all these new goodies are just sitting there BEGGING to be played with!  Who am I to deny them??).  This one uses the so-pretty Bird Ballad suite (coming on 4 June) – take a look-see:

This layout is courtesy of this week’s Global Design Project sketch challenge.

And – as a little reminder, here’s the Bird Ballad Suite…

I started with some of the beautiful flower-and-bird strewn paper from the Bird Ballad DSP (available on 4 June) and matted it on Daffodil Delight for the card front.  I wrapped some Petal Pink 5/8″ Organdy Striped Ribbon (from the coming-soon Perennial Essence Suite) around the panel, securing it in the back with Glue Dots.

Next up, using my Stamparatus, I stamped the Free As A Bird sentiment in Tuxedo Black on a Whisper White square.  Above it, I added the bird-on-a-branch image, also in Tuxedo Black.

I matted the square on Daffodil Delight and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On a seperate piece of Whisper White, I stamped the bird-and-branch image again in Tuxedo Black.  Using my Light and Dark Daffodil Delight, Petal Pink, Crumb Cake, and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends, I colored the image.  Then I fussy cut it. 🙂

I used Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals (it’s me – so…I used a bunch!) and popped the colored birds over top of the black-and-white image.

I tied a bow from the Petal Pink 5/8″ Organdy Striped Ribbon and adhered it with a Glue Dot – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second Free As A Bird sentiment in Tuxedo Black on Whisper White.  Then I added some flowers and leaves in Tuxedo Black sort of scattered all over.  I stamped the images a couple of times without re-inking.  Then I used my Light and Dark Petal Pink Blends to color the flowers.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Daffodil Delight mat and into my Petal Pink card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Free As A Bird flowers and leaves on the front…

…and I added more of the pretty Bird Ballad DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This whole gorgeous Bird Ballad suite just screams SPRING, doesn’t it?  The images and beautiful sentiments in the Free As A Bird stamp set coordinate perfectly with the Bird Ballad DSP.  And – watch for those uber-cool Stitched Nested Labels dies!  Go ahead – just add this one to your wish list!  You know you’re going to get it!  Hope you like!
