Stampin’ Up! Floral Wings and Watercolor Wishes on a bed of Pretty Petals

My Big Shot underwent exploratory surgery yesterday.  My husband, who refused to scrub-and-glove before making the first un-screw, pulled out his various tools to make a differential diagnosis.  Symptom?  It didn’t work.  Broken.  Handle turned, but nothing would go thru the roller.  So, we searched Google (as an aside – what if this had happened 20 years ago?!?  Did Big Shots even exist then?  Assuming they had – we’d have had to go to the Encyclopedia Britannica and look under B.  For Broken Big Shot.  Not sure that would have been all that fruitful.  If you don’t even know what an Encyclopedia Britannica IS – well…. Google it!).  But, thanks to Mr. Gore, the Internet exists (at least that’s what HE says!) and so does the knower-of-all-things….Google!

Regardless, Google came thru and we found directions for dissecting a Big Shot.  Screws were loosened.  Handle and sides removed.  And what did we see???

Baby's Framelit watermarked

Yep.  The framelit for the baby toy whose name I don’t know was stuck down in the roller.  I couldn’t find it the previous day when I was done with my baby card.  Now I know why!  Amazing that such a tiny piece could bring the whole thing to a screeching halt.  But, halt it it did!!  Wayne removed it – it’s a little worse for the wear, but I hope it will flatten out with some trips thru the now-repaired-and-working perfectly Big Shot.

Anywho – with everything working again, I tackled Sketch and Stamp Blog’s SB114:

S&B 114 Thanks

Be sure to head over to Sketch and Stamp and check them out – their design team artists do wonderful work!  In fact, my friend Amy Koenders is one of those folks, and I rather shamelessly drew from her great card for mine.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Floral Wings lends Timeless Elegance to Birthday Wishes

Well, Monday’s rolled around again – it just keeps doing that, I suppose!  We spent the weekend trying to remain as OUT of the OUTside and as IN the INside (where the AC is!) as we could.  It’s just miserable here.  At least, it is for me.  I don’t do humidity so well anymore – I’ve never liked it much, but….these days it really knocks me back.

Part of our quest for AC was to go to a movie.  Have y’all seen Antman yet?  We saw it in 3-D IMAX and it was super fun!  Paul Rudd did a great job with the always-fun writing that you get in the Marvel movies.  I’m a pretty big Marvel-movie-geek, so….I’m easily impressed.  But, we enjoyed it a lot, and would give it 4 thumbs up!  And – we got to see the BIG screen trailer for the Star Wars movie coming out at Christmas!  Whooo-hooo!!!  Can’t hardly wait for that one to come out.

Anywho – on to the card for the day (the ACTUAL reason you stopped by!).  This is a pretty simple card, that combines two of the new Hostess Sets in the Annual Catalog – Floral Wings and Happy Birthday, Everyone.  And it features the new Timeless Elegance DSP.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Floral Wings and Pretty Petals Flutterby’s

You know what the best thing is about being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator? It’s being able to buy all the stamp sets (and everything else!!) at a 20% discount. Know what the worst thing is about being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator? Yup – you guessed it! It’s being able to buy all the stamp sets (and everything else!) at a 20% discount!! 😉 When you combine that with a cool MacBook Pro and high-speed internet….well, the results can be disastrously wondermous! It also lends itself to having a veritable plethora of choices for every card I make. Too many sometimes – I see a sketch come in my e-mail and then I sit and stare at my current stamps….and stare….and pull out a case and consider….and then stare some more….well, you get the picture. Lots of dithering.

That wasn’t the case when I saw the sketch that inspired today’s card. It came from CAS(e) this Sketch and it’s CTS #132:

CTS 132 image

As soon as I saw it, I pictured Night of Navy Card Stock, with the oak tree from Lovely as a Tree, embossed in white. My vision was clear, my destination assured. I started to work right away. Take a look-see:
