Well, Monday’s rolled around again – it just keeps doing that, I suppose! We spent the weekend trying to remain as OUT of the OUTside and as IN the INside (where the AC is!) as we could. It’s just miserable here. At least, it is for me. I don’t do humidity so well anymore – I’ve never liked it much, but….these days it really knocks me back.
Part of our quest for AC was to go to a movie. Have y’all seen Antman yet? We saw it in 3-D IMAX and it was super fun! Paul Rudd did a great job with the always-fun writing that you get in the Marvel movies. I’m a pretty big Marvel-movie-geek, so….I’m easily impressed. But, we enjoyed it a lot, and would give it 4 thumbs up! And – we got to see the BIG screen trailer for the Star Wars movie coming out at Christmas! Whooo-hooo!!! Can’t hardly wait for that one to come out.
Anywho – on to the card for the day (the ACTUAL reason you stopped by!). This is a pretty simple card, that combines two of the new Hostess Sets in the Annual Catalog – Floral Wings and Happy Birthday, Everyone. And it features the new Timeless Elegance DSP. Take a look-see:
I really love how the Cherry Cobbler pops against the Black and Sahara Sand of the Timeless Elegance. The design for this card was based on the Pals Paper Arts Sketch #260. Be sure to head over there to check out their great sketches!
I did flip the design to fit my sentiments better, but otherwise, I followed it pretty closely! I started by SNAILing a piece of the Timeless Elegance to a Cherry Cobbler card stock mat, and then to my Sahara Sand card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The sentiment circle started with the sentiment from Watercolor Wishes (there’s just so much that can be done with all the sentiments in this set – very much worth getting the kit!!), which I inked up with Versamark and stamped on a Sahara Sand circle that I’d punched with my 2 1/2″ punch. I sprinkled it with Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it with my Heat Tool.
One the sentiment cooled off, I stamped the vase from Floral Wings in Night of Navy, running the stamp off the circle a bit. Then I stamped the stems in Mossy Meadow and the roses in Cherry Cobbler. No need to mask the sentiment off when it’s been heat embossed, so it’s really quick and easy! Then I SNAIL’d the circle to a Cherry Cobbler mat, that I’d die cut with the 6th-from-the-center circle framelit (2 3/4″).
For the banners, I used a strip of Sahara Sand for the sentiment – which comes from the Hostess set called Happy Birthday, Everyone. Like the first sentiment, it’s also heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler. The second banner is another strip of the Timeless Elegance DSP – and I colored the little flowers in with my Blender Pen using the Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink Pad.
I cut the banners so they’d lie under the sentiment circle, and then I cut the banner ends with the new Triple Banner Punch. I assembled everything by SNAILing the banners to the card front and then adhering the layered sentiment circle on with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A few pearls finished the card front! I couldn’t resist the tiny seed pearls in the centers of the flowers!
The inside is quite simple – the card base is already conducive to writing a note, so no liner was necessary. I just used a couple of scraps of the Cherry Cobbler card stock and Timeless Elegance DSP and finished off the inside of the card base! Just to give it a little extra sumpin’ and to tie the inner liner with the card front, I also cut a banner end with the Triple Banner Punch.
I added just a few more little pearls – in the same pattern as on the front, et voila! The card was done!
Hope you like this share. See below for all the card cuts and products used in this card! Remember that you need to be a workshop Hostess to buy the Happy Birthday, Everyone or the Floral Wings sets. Give me a holler and we’ll get set you up! 🙂
This is the last day for this week’s Deals, so….
