Stampin’ Up! Lovely Painted Autumn Harvest Sneak Peek

Okay – so we made it!  It’s the weekend!  Whoo-hoo!  And also – whew! 😉

So the problem with a ginormous pre-order (or even a more modest ginornous-adjacent pre-order such as I did) is that it’s darned near impossible to narrow that first card down to one stamp set or bundle.  Obviously I picked the ones I loved the MOST from the new catalog – and that was hard, cuz nearly every page had one or two or five somethings on it that I loved!  So…how to pick the most loved of the loved?

I finally decided to use the Painted Autumn Suite – it was the one that caught my eye first, after all.  So – I pulled out the Autumn Harvest stamp set, the new Leaf Punch and the Painted Autumn DSP.  And I also ended up using a nice little sentiment from the Lovely Words Thinlits and Dragonfly Dreams!  Take a look-see:

My layout for this one was inspired by the sketch challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch.

And I also took some hints from a new (to me!) challenge – the Tic Tac Toe Challenge.  I love Tic Tac Toe challenges!!

I went down the right column on that one.

I started with a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  Then I cut about a 3″ x 4″ piece of Window Sheet and punched it with the new (coming on 1 Sept!) Leaf Punch in the Painted Autumn Suite to make a stencil.  Across my Very Vanilla panel, using wedges of Stampin’ Sponges, I added leaf stencils in Lemon Lime Twist.  Then I went back over them with Garden Green.  And I cut a piece of Vellum card stock the same size as the Vanilla panel.

For my half circle at the bottom, I traced the shape of my Tear & Tape Adhesive roll on the backside of a piece of Painted Autumn DSP and fussy cut the shape.  Around the edges, I added faux stitches in Cajun Craze with my Stampin’ Write Marker.

Using my Fine-Tip Glue pen, I added glue on the back of the Vellum panel – only under the portion where I knew my half-circle was going to be placed – and adhered it over the leaf-strewn card front.  Then I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Cajun Craze mat.

My stamped sentiment is from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set.  I stamped the first three words in Cajun Craze just above my half circle. Then I finished the sentiment by cutting three Lovely Words thinlits in Cajun Craze and snipping just the words out.  I stacked them up with little dabs of Liquid Glue.
To be honest – I wasn’t sure what a “stacked sentiment” was – so…I stacked stamped words on top of the die cut word and I also stacked three die cuts.  I ought to be covered! 😉

I adhered the stacked sentiment to the card front with Liquid Glue.

Next up, I made some leaves.  Using Vellum card stock again, I stamped the veins image from Autumn Harvest (also available on 1 Sept – or now…ask me how!) in Garden Green and then I stamped the fill image over top in Lemon Lime Twist.  I also did one more on a piece of Very Vanilla.  I punched them all out with the new Leaf Punch and creased the leaves with my Bone Folder (now that I’ve found that trick – expect to see it a lot!).

The oh-so-pretty sunflowers are part of one of the beautiful papers in the Painted Autumn DSP – I fussy cut them right out of the paper!  And – just to make them pop – I edged each flower with my Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker.

Using Fine-Tip Glue and some regular white Liquid Glue, I adhered the large sunflower and some Vellum leaves.  Then I popped the smaller sunflower on with a couple of Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I used the Very Vanilla leaf and stuck it up under the small sunflower with a little Liquid Glue.  Then I tied a bow with the new linen-thread-on-steroids Jute Twine (love!) and adhered it with a dab of Liquid Glue.

I added more faux stitches around the edge of the Vellum in Cajun Craze then I added little dots of Fine-Tip Glue to the underside of the Vellum, under the leaves and flowers, to help adhere it to the card front.  I also added two eensy-weensy-tiny dabs under the stitches in the top corners.  And that finished off the card front!

On the inside, I added a sentiment from Autumn Harvest in Cajun Craze to a Very Vanilla panel (isn’t it wonderful?!?).  Then I stamped a Garden Green and Lemon-Lime Twist leaf next to the sentiment.

Do you think I should have added the faux stitches?  I couldn’t decide and so I left them off.  I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Cajun Craze mat and into my Early Espresso card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

I added more of the Autumn Harvest leaves in Garden Green and Lemon Lime Twist to the front of my Very Vanilla Medium Envelope…

…and then gave the envelope flap a covering of a little more of the Painted Autumn DSP.

Et Voila!  I kinda sorta love love LOVE this suite!!  It’s absolutely gorgeous – with its painterly images in the stamp set and the beautiful coordinating paper.  I think it’ll be a go-to all thru the dog-days of summer and into the Fall!  I can’t wait for you to get your hands on this Suite!!  Hope you like!

Speaking of getting your hands on it – you could!!  How?

Glad you asked!  Folks who join Stampin’ Up! now can select from the new Holiday Catalog to fill their Starter Kits!  So…you, too, could be making beautiful cards with this Suite right now!  Give me shout – or check out all the reasons joining with me is a good idea, right here on my Join My Team page!

Finn-Fan Fix

One of Finny’s most endearing traits is his ability to go from a hundred to zero in the blink of an eye.

And he’s almost always pretty close by when he hits zero.

Sometimes almost too close.

Not really – there’s not really any such thing.

What a love.

Stampin’ Up! Me=Grateful Dragonfly for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

15822762_10211923272945503_223384966683691578_n

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  We’ve got a sketch to work with today and I hope that you’ll take a few minutes to check out all our projects!  And then maybe you’ll make them for yourselves!

Here’s our sketch…

I also used a color challenge from The Paper Players.

I ended up using a stamp set that’s been lurking in my shelves for a while now.  I realized when I opened the case that I’ve not used it even once!  It’s the Me=Grateful stamp set – and I know I’ll be using it again.  It’s got great sentiments.  I paired it with a little of the Sale-A-Bration paper called the Inside the Lines DSP (and there’s only TWO WEEKS left to get it for yourself!).  Take a look-see:

This one is very easy.  Quick?  Depends on how fast you are with Blender Pen coloring!

I started with a piece of Old Olive card stock, cut at my mat size of 4″ x 5 1/4″.  I cut a piece of the Inside the Lines DSP (making sure I got that dragonfly where he’d peek out from under my sentiments) at 2 3/4″ x 3 7/8″.  And I also cut a piece of Whisper White at 2 3/8″ x 3 7/8″.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the two pieces to the Old Olive mat, butting them up in the center.

I used the Old Olive Watercolor Pencil (get these quick if you don’t have a set – they’re showing as Low Inventory!) and a Blender Pen to color the leaves and stems.  I just added the watercolor pencil where there would have been “shadows” and on the drawn lines – then pulled the color with the Blender Pen.  I used my Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Marker to color in the centers of the flowers.

I wrapped a piece of Silver 1/8″ Ribbon around the “seam”, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

I used a new Lace Doily and adhered it white-side-up with Liquid Glue.

For my Me=Grateful sentiment, I inked it up in Old Olive and stamped it on a piece of Whisper White card stock, then cut it with a square Stitched Shapes Framelit die.  I used my Paper Trimmer to cut an Old Olive mat and adhered them together with Liquid Glue.  Using a couple of Glue Dots, I wound some loops of Silver Metallic Thread around the back and popped it all over the Lace Doily with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a little bow with the Silver 1/8″ Ribbon, attached it with a Glue Dot and that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I inked up the dragonfly in the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set with Basic Black Archival Ink and stamped it in the corner of a Whisper White panel.  Then I added a second sentiment from Me=Grateful in Old Olive, positioning it with my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig.

I SNAILd the panel to an Old Olive mat and into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!

On the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added another Basic Black Archival Ink dragonfly…

…and I gave the envelope flap some more of the Inside The Lines DSP, coloring it again with my Old Olive Watercolor Pencil, Pear Pizzazz Marker and a Blender Pen.

Et Voila!  This paper is a ton of fun to color – and it works beautifully with this serene, monochromatic color scheme.  Hope you like!

How handy that Stampin’ Up! put a dragonfly on this pretty paper so we could coordinate it with the ever-popular Dragonfly Dreams bundle!  Get ’em both while they last, folks! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Dragonflies in a Garden in Bloom

Happy hawwmp day, y’all!  Hope the week is going well for you!  I’ve been busy – I have a new plan up my sleeve.  Videos!  Card making videos!  I got a camera stand yesterday and set it up and did a “practice” run.  One day soon I’ll be doing one “for reals” and I’ll let you know where to find them.  I suspect they’ll be on my Stamps-n-Lingers Facebook page.  So, if you want to bebop over there and follow me, then you should get notification of when my videos are live! Here’s a link!

My card for today goes back to a beautiful Annual catalog stamp set called Garden in Bloom, with the addition of a little buzzy bee from the Occasions Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Dragonfly Dreams and Details Sneak Peek for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Good morning, y’all – welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop!  We had a fun – and interesting! – sketch challenge to work with this week.  I figure you’ll see some Christmas, some Sneak Peeks, some…who’s to say?!  I hope you’ll spend some time scrolling thru all the Blog Hoppers’ offerings today!

Here’s our sketch!

14088475_10210533701207078_5690154385464549913_n
I decided to play around a little with the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits – and used a cool technique called Embossed Impressions.  I saw a card on Pinterest and discovered a great video from Jennifer McGuire – which you can check out right here!  I used the matching Dragonfly Dreams stamp set – which you’ll be able to get as a 10%-off bundle when the 2017 Occasions Catalog comes out in January.

Take a look-see:

dreamy-dragonfly-embossed-impressions-4-stamps-n-lingersAfter I watched Jennifer’s video, I decided to use some Island Indigo card stock to bring out the shimmery dragonfly wings.  Before I started my embossing, though, I used the dots image from Dragonfly Dreams to stamp in Island Indigo across the top of the panel (you probably noticed I turned the sketch on its side!).

Then I rubbed the panel with my Embossing Buddy.  To emboss the dragonflies, I made my Big Shot sandwich:  cutting plate, Silicon embossing mat (from Amazon), thinlit with the cutting side up, card stock, additional piece of card stock as a shim, silicon mat, cutting plate.  Before building the sandwich, I gently tapped the cutting edge of my thinlit with Versamark Ink.  Then I was really careful to not move the thinlit once I got everything laid down.

dreamy-dragonfly-embossed-impressions-3-stamps-n-lingers
I embossed the panel, removed the card stock from the Big Shot sandwich and sprinkled it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up.  Be sure you check for any stray embossing powder and brush it off carefully before heating.  Then, using my Clear Wink of Stella, I brushed the raised portions of the dragonfly wings.  I love how it makes them look iridescent!

dreamy-dragonfly-embossed-impressions-8-stamps-n-lingers
I matted the panel on Silver Foil, then ran a length of coming-soon White/Silver 3/8″ Metallic Ribbon (this is a FREE Sale-A-Bration item!) around the card front and secured it in the back with scotch tape.

The sentiment, from Dragonfly Dreams, is heat embossed in Silver.

For the large dragonfly, I repeated the same embossing technique that I used for the card front.  Then, when it was all cool, I used the outline die to cut out the dragonfly.  And I cut a second solid dragonfly from Silver Foil.  I brushed the raised parts of the wings and then used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere the two dragonflies together.

dreamy-dragonfly-embossed-impressions-2-stamps-n-lingers
I stuck pieces of Stampin’ Dimensional all over the back of the dragonfly and used them to adhere loops of Silver Metallic Thread behind it, then popped it on the card front.  I added a little row of Rhinestone Basic Jewels under the sentiment and the card front was done.

On the inside, I stamped the Dragonfly Dreams dots image across the top of a Whisper White panel, using Island Indigo ink that I stamped off once before stamping the panel.  Then I added a second sentiment, heat embossing it in Silver.

dreamy-dragonfly-embossed-impressions-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd the panel to a Silver Foil mat and into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more stamped-off-once-Island-Indigo dots from Dragonfly Dreams across the front…

dreamy-dragonfly-embossed-impressions-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and also across the envelope flap.

dreamy-dragonfly-embossed-impressions-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  I kind of love this technique and hope you’ll give it a try, too.  And the Dragonfly Dream bundle is going to be a heavy favorite when the Occasions Catalog goes live!  Hope you like.

Stampin’ Up! Detailed Dragonfly Sneak Peek!

Good morning!  It’s Friday – whoo-hoo!!  Soon after you read this, I’ll be headed back to Salt Lake for my oh-so-comfortable ride home tomorrow!  Can’t wait to see Finn and Wayne.

Was it wrong of me to put them in that order?! 🙁

I won’t miss much about being here, I must confess.  One thing I will miss, though, is the beauty of the weather.  It’s so uniquely high-desert; it reminds me of when we lived in New Mexico.  Here’s what was outside the hotel when I went out the other day.

morning-in-utah
Breathtaking!

Or maybe that was the cold….hard to say! 🙂  But I obviously appreciated it enough to stop and get my camera out to take the picture, right?

My card for today is another 2017 Occasions Catalog sneak peek.  This time I’m teasing you with the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits – which you’ll be able to get bundled up to save 10%!  This one also uses some 2017 Sale-A-Bration Carried Away DSP.  And – peeking out from the back, one of the Floral Affection TIEFs from the Annual Catalog.  Take a look-see:

detailed-dragonfly-dreams-thanks-4-stamps-n-lingers
The layout for this one comes from the RetroSketches challenge this week:

rs-241-sketch
And the color scheme is inspired by the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge.  Triple Irish Creme cupcakes, to be exact.  Hello?!? 🙂

cupcake-inspirations-386-sketch
I started out by SNAILing a piece of Carried Away DSP to a Mint Macaron mat for the card front.  The next layer is a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock, embossed in the Floral Affection TIEF.  Once I pulled it from the Big Shot, I colored the raised pattern with my Gold Wink of Stella.  My thought was it would look a little like edible gold-leaf on chocolate.

It didn’t get quite that intense, and it doesn’t show up all that well in the pictures, but in person, there’s a subtle gold sheen to the pattern!  Squint yer eyes – maybe you’ll see it….

detailed-dragonfly-dreams-thanks-9-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd that embossed panel to a Mint Macaron mat and then to the card front.

Next up – the tag.  I pulled out my World of Thanks background stamp, inked it up (with it laying rubber-side-up on my work surface) with Mint Macaron ink.  Then I laid a piece of Whisper White card stock on top of the stamp and carefully rubbed all over it – being careful not to move the card stock.  I picked it up and cut a 2″ wide piece for my tag.  Then I punched the top with my Scalloped Tag Topper punch and the bottom with my Banner Triple Punch.  To help it stand out a little, I edged the tag with a Chocolate Chip Stampin’ Write Marker.  Finally, I took 4 short lengths of Whisper White Thick Baker’s Twine, ran them thru the top of the tag and spread them out all pretty-like.  I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere the tag to the card front.

detailed-dragonfly-dreams-thanks-3-stamps-n-lingers
My sentiment is from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set.  I stamped it in Chocolate Chip on a strip of Whisper White.  Then I stuck each end of the strip in the back of the Decorative Label punch to make the ends.  That’s a quick tip to make a decorative label larger than the punch will do just by itself! 🙂

I edged my label with my Mint Macaron Stampin’ Write Marker and popped it over the tag with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then I added three Pearl Basic Jewels under the sentiment.

I used the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits to make my dragonfly.

Hmmm.  Redundant much, Mary?? 🙂

First I cut the smaller detailed dragonfly from a piece of Mint Macaron DSP.  Next was a dragonfly cut from a piece of Vellum card stock.  I used my Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the two die cuts together – just adhering the bodies, not the wings.  Lastly, I cut one from a piece of Chocolate Chip Designer Series Paper, snipped out just the body and adhered it over my dragonfly.  I brushed the Vellum wings with my Clear Wink of Stella and then used some Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop him onto my card front.  And that was it for the card front.

detailed-dragonfly-dreams-thanks-8-stamps-n-lingers
On the inside, I stamped the dragonfly image from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set in Mint Macaron on a Whisper White panel.

detailed-dragonfly-dreams-thanks-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd it to a Mint Macaron mat, then into my Chocolate Chip card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Mint Macaron Dragonfly Dreams dragonfly on the front…

detailed-dragonfly-dreams-thanks-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and some more Carried Away DSP on the envelope flap.

detailed-dragonfly-dreams-thanks-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  This is such a fun bundle – the Dragonfly Dreams stamp images and sentiments are perfect and the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits make short work of getting beautiful, dimensional additions to your cards!  Hope you like!

Scroll on down for the card cuts and all the goodies you need to make this one for yourself!

Stampin’ Up! Dragonfly Dreams and Inside the Lines Sneak Peek

Good morning, y’all!  Hope your weekend is going well!  I’ve got a sneak peek card for you today – the coming-soon in the Occasions catalog Dragonfly Dreams bundle and the Sale-A-Bration Inside the Lines DSP.

But first….

Finn has started a newish thing.  When we take our morning constitutional, he likes to come flying back to the golf cart and leap up onto it – sometimes before I can get it stopped!  He’ll frequently make one bounce on the floor board and then jump right up onto the seat next to me!  Where he leans into me for a hug and a little ride.

He’s a massive love-bug!

Once we’ve had our hug, he lays down for a little sightseeing….

Not sure how well that…or this….

wayne-and-finn-in-the-tackroom
…is going to work out when he crosses into the 60-70 pound range!

Oh…. no.  It’s not -12F outside.  Wayne bundles up like that when it’s 40.  It’s that whole lack-of-body-fat thing.

I do not have any such issue. 😉

Finn’s growing so fast, we brought in the food bowl stand today.  It’s a leeeeetle bit tall yet, but not by much.  And for sure not for long!  I set it up so he could pretend he was dining alfresco, and keep a sharp eye on the chipmunks and squirrels!

finn-at-his-food-bowl-stand
He mucked down five cups of food today – 4 is the norm! – he was extra hungry!  That growing business is hungry work, dontcha know?

He also came with me to my stamping table today – actually gave me about 45 minutes of only-sort-of-torture!  He chewed his bone, played with the chain collar (his very favorite toy!), pulled on the leash….I finally had to give up and put him in his crate for a nap.  So that I could actually make y’all a card!

I decided to give y’all a sneak peek at an Occasions bundle – the Dragonfly Dreams.  And Inside the Lines – the coordinating DSP that is a Sale-A-Bration item!

You’ll be able to buy the Dragonfly Dreams bundle for $46.75.  Add the Watercolor Pencils for $16.00 and you just earned yourself a free Sale-A-Bration goody – maybe the Outside the Lines DSP? 🙂

I put them all together and here’s what I came up with.  Take a look-see:

I played along with two challenges today – the first, for the layout – was the November Viva La Verve sketch challenge.

vlvnov2016-sketch
And my color palette was inspired by the Sunday Stamps color challenge.

ssc139-sketch
I started by cutting a piece of the Inside the Lines DSP for my card front.  Then I cut it again to create the blocks – and matted them on a piece of Early Espresso card stock – using Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

I colored the right side blocks with the new Watercolor Pencils.  At the end of OnStage Local – they told us to determine who’d had the most recent birthday.  It was me!  So – I got to pick first.  We each got to take the things out of the tote they’d placed on the table that was filled with all the goodies we’d used for the Make-and-Takes!  I started and then we went around the table until all the goodies were gone.

My momma didn’t raise no fool!  I snagged those Watercolor Pencils lickety-split! 🙂  Thank you, Stampin’ Up!

For this card, I used the Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie and Calypso Coral pencils, laying color down into my flowers and leaves and then pulling it out and blending it with my Blender Pens.

Note to self:  buy new Blender Pens.  The ones at OnStage were nice and juicy.  Mine?  Not so much – but they still worked just fine for this!  The paper held up very well for coloring.

I used the Blender Pens to pick up some Crushed Curry from the lid of the ink pad to color the bee.

The next “layer” is the line of dragonflies under the sentiment.  I cut them with the cool die in the Detailed Dragonflies Thinlits from Rich Razzleberry card stock.  It cuts a “strip” of five dragonflies, all hooked together.  For my card, I cut it in half to have more of it visible!  I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere it to the left side of the card.

My sentiment square is cut from Whisper White with the new Stitched Shapes Framelits!  I am in love with these!  They add just the perfect little extra “oomph” to a card.

I stamped the sentiment from Dragonfly Dreams in Rich Razzleberry.  Across the top, I used Pumpkin Pie – stamped off once and twice – to add the dots image (also from Dragonfly Dreams).  I matted it on an Early Espresso scalloped edge square cut with the Squares Layering Framelits.  See how well the Stitched Shapes worked with the Layering Squares! 🙂

dragonfly-dreams-outside-the-lines-8-stamps-n-lingers
I popped the matted square over the Rich Razzleberry dragonflies with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

My little decoration is a frond of Early Espresso cut with a Botanical Builder Framelits die, adhered with Liquid Glue.  And some threads pulled out of my 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon.  I tied some Halloween Night Baker’s Twine around my “sheaf” of burlap threads and adhered that over the frond.  Finally, I added a little bow of the Halloween Night Baker’s Twine.  And that was it for the card front!

dragonfly-dreams-outside-the-lines-1-stamps-n-lingers
On the inside, I stamped a second Dragonfly Dreams sentiment in Rich Razzleberry on a panel of Whisper White.   Then I added some more Pumpkin Pie dots across the top and bottom.  I always stamped off once or twice before stamping the panel.  Then I added the bee from Dragonfly Dreams – I stamped his body in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and then the fill-in (it’s a two-step stamp) in Crushed Curry.

dragonfly-dreams-outside-the-lines-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd the panel to an Early Espresso mat and into my Rich Razzleberry card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

On the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added Pumpkin Pie dots and another bee from Dragonfly Dreams…

dragonfly-dreams-outside-the-lines-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and then I used some more of the Inside the Lines DSP on the envelope flap.  I colored just the bee, using Crushed Curry and a Blender Pen.

dragonfly-dreams-outside-the-lines-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila! I just love this bundle!  I cut the bee out with the framelits – I so wanted to use it, but….it was just a tad too big for this particular card.  And how cool is that little line of dragonflies??  This set works so nicely with the Inside the Lines DSP.  And the Watercolor Pencils!  Love!  Hope you like and are making your wish list for when the catalog goes live on 4 Jan! 🙂
