Stampin’ Up! You Are Remarkable Window View Card With Video for Creative Creases #101

Good morning, y’all!  Happy Friday – the cusp of the weekend!  One PSA – don’t forget that tomorrow night (Saturday) is the night to set your clocks forward when you go to bed!  Love it or hate – it’s time for Daylight Savings Time!  Whoo-hoo!  Oh – did I signal which I prefer?! 😉

My card today is another fun fold for the Creative Creases Challenge – a spot where all we do is…FUN FOLDS!  Yeah!  I hope that YOU’LL make a fun fold and share it with us this month! 🙂

My fun fold is a Window View card and it’s a real harbinger of Spring – thanks to the beautiful (and oft-missed!) You Are Remarkable stamp set – a new Online Exclusive!  I also grabbed a So Sincere sentiment – I needed it to fit on the front of my fun fold – and some pretty (new!) Lovely Garden DSP!  Take a look-see:

You’ll see this card – along with the other Design Team members’ cards –  at this month’s Creative Creases Challenge!   😎

And I think it clearly works perfectly – and was inspired by! – this week’s Paper Players challenge.

I saw this cool fun fold last week on my teammate Tara Carpenter’s (Tarabeth Stamps) Sunday night You Tube Live – and I knew I needed to make it right away!

I started with a Garden Green card base (5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ – scored at 4 1/4″) and – using the second-from-largest Textured Notes die (this is ALSO new in the Online Exclusives and if you don’t have this set – just go get it right now!) – I cut a rectangle right from the center of the panel.

Using the leaf-fill stamp in the You Are Remarkable set, I stamped all around the remaining part of the card front in Garden Green ink.  Then I stamped the little bee (my fave bee image EVER!) in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

To make the art panel, I stamped the You Are Remarkable flower outline in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a 2 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock.  When it had dried – it takes an extra beat or two! – I stamped the flower center in Peach Pie and the leaves in Granny Apple Green.

Around the image – I stamped that little bee again in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink a couple of times – and the splatter image in Lemon Lolly ink.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the Garden Green die cut that I’d removed from the front of the card base.

For the inside – the fun-fold mechanism – I scored a 5″ x 7 7/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock at 2″, 4″ and 6″ on the long side.

I folded each score line…

…to create the window-fold mechanism.

I stamped the You Are Remarkable sentiment on the 2″ section at the end of the panel in Garden Green ink.  Then I added the little bee in Tuxedo Black and the splatters in Lemon Lolly ink.

Using Liquid Glue ONLY on the back of that section of the panel, I adhered it to my 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of Peach Pie cardstock – leaving a normal reveal around three edges.

I adhered a piece of Lovely Garden DSP (new!) to a Peach Pie mat and then used Liquid Glue to adhere it on the second 2″ wide panel of the mechanism.

Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the whole thing to the inside of the card base.

The 1 7/8″ panel is the one that adheres to the back of the card front to set up the mechanism.

This part is a LOT easier for you to SEE than it is for me to WRITE – so I’m not even going to TRY to explain it.  Check out the video – I do this step at about the 24 minute mark!

With the mechanism together – I went back to the front.

The sentiment – from the So Sincere stamp set – is stamped in Garden Green on a piece of Basic White cardstock and then cut out with the smallest Textured Notes die.

I tied a small bow with two lengths of Garden Green twine from the Natural Tones Twine pack.

Making sure to keep everything – including the tails of the bow – within the confines of the Garden Green window panel, I adhered the bow with a little Liquid Glue and then added the sentiment over the top with double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I closed the card and put some Liquid Glue on the right side of the Basic White fold mechanism – then placed the window panel back into place.  Note: as you can see from the photo above – it’s important to not get adhesive on the left side of the fold mechanism!

In the video – I did a bit of a variation.  First – I added a second matted panel of Lovely Garden DSP to the other 2″ wide panel on the fold mechanism.

And when I adhered the front window panel to the fold mechasim – I used Stampin’ Dimensionals.  To be honest – that didn’t turn out to be much different from using Liquid Glue – so…either way will work.

But – I DO like the added DSP panel, don’t you?!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the You Are Remarkable bee in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on the front…

…and more of the Lovely Garden DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Well – I do love this cool Window View fun fold (thanks, Tara!) and it’s really a perfect vehicle for showcasing the truly lovely daisy from the You Are Remarkable stamp set!  The sentiments – and that BEE!! – from the set are wonderful, too!  It also gives some real estate for showing off pretty paper like the Lovely Garden DSP.  Remember, not every stamp set has everything that you need in it – so don’t be afraid to dig around on your stamp set shelf!  I pulled So Sincere cuz it had a just-right sentiment for this card!

CARDSTOCK PRICE CHANGES COMING SOON

Stampin’ Up! shared this with us yesterday so I wanted to pass it along!

In light of steadily increasing production costs, we’ve made a few updates to our cardstock offerings.

WHY THE CHANGE?
Over the years, Stampin’ Up! has worked diligently to manage rising costs while balancing high-quality standards and remaining competitive in the market. The costs for raw materials and production have continued to climb, and only a select few mills around the world are qualified to produce our heavyweight, dyed-through cardstock, ensuring it meets our color and quality standards.

WHAT’S CHANGING?

  • 8-1/2″ x 11″ cardstock:
    • All single-color cardstock packages will now contain 24 sheets (including Basic White and Very Vanilla).
    • Assortments will contain 20 sheets.
    • Prices will be $14 for both single-color and assortment packs.
    • 8-1/2″ x 11″ Thick Basic Cardstock will be discontinued, Thick Basic White Cardstock will be available in 12″ x 12″ packs beginning with the new Annual Catalog in early May.
  • 12″ x 12″ cardstock:
    • Our heavyweight, dyed-through cardstock and Basic White Thick Cardstock packages will contain 24 sheets.
    • 12″ x 12″ dyed cardstock will be $22.
    • 12″ x 12″ Basic White Thick Cardstock will be $26
    • We’re also expanding our 12″ x 12″ offerings with Two-Tone cardstock available in single-color packages in all colors.
    • We will no longer offer 12″ x 12″ dyed cardstock in assortments but will continue to provide 12″ x 12″ Two-Tone assortments that coordinate with our Designer Series Paper & Sticker Sheets.
  • Other Product Updates:
    • Pricing and configuration for our 12″ x 12″ Two-Tone cardstocks and White Willow 12″ x 12″ Cardstock remain unchanged.
    • In addition to the changes mentioned above, you will notice a handful of other price increases, which are typical in a new catalog.

So stock up on those cardstock packs now ahead of the price increases!  You can find the card stock in the online store here

Such an awesome fun fold card! Love the floral image too. Poor Finn…he hardly gets anything to eat, he’s starving! 😉

    • stampsnlingers

He sure is! You can see how thin and poor he is! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  2. Karen

Well, of course, I want to copy and share everything! I will pass on the bucket though…lol! He is just too cute. Too bad he’s hard of hearing 😉

It’s quite selective – sort of like his Dad’s hearing!🤔. Thanks, Karen! 🙂

Very pretty card! You enable me with every single time! I have been on the fence with this stamp set, but you really made it shine with this fun fold! I appreciate the heads-up on the paper prices going up. I hadn’t clicked the link yet and am surprised by a few of the announcements. So, this stamp set will find its way into my cart with some papers and the new kits! Have a great weekend!

It’s really one of my faves – that daisy is one of the prettiest – and the little bee just…slays me! Thanks, Debbie! 🙂

  4. Mary, you are definitely the Queen of fun folds. This is fabulous! I love the green on green background and your beautiful flower. Your card would make anyone smile! Thank you for making my challenge shine at The Paper Players this week!

Thanks so much, Claire! Appreciate the very nice words!! 🙂

  5. Mary, your cards are both lovely, but I agree that the one with the extra DSP on the panel behind the flower panel is extra beautiful! This is a great fold for those cards you want a lot of people to be able to sign. Lots of space! I think I’ll watch your video and see about giving it a try soon! Have a wonderful weekend! I’m so glad to be on the DT at CCC with you!
