Stampin’ Up! Striped Ocean Friends Thank You Card with Video

Good morning and Happy Sunday!  I just realized this is a three-day weekend (at least for some folks!). Are YOU one of the lucky ones??  Hope so – and hope you had decent weather – not too hot – not too cold – but juuuuuussssst right!  Like Goldilocks weather!

My card today will make you think of summer and the beach!  Sand and surf!  Or…maybe surf and TURF!  Sorta depends on how you roll! I used the Ocean Friends bundle and coordinating Friends of the Ocean DSP to make a fun thank you card.  Take a look-see:

The layout is from the Try Stamping on Tuesday sketch challenge.

I stamped the Ocean Friends sentiment in Melon Mambo ink on the bottom of the 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Basic White cardstock.

Next up, I die cut the top and bottom edges of a piece of Friends of the Ocean DSP with the wavy wave die from the Ocean Friends die set.

Then I cut two 1/2″ x 3 7/8″ pieces from it – with the wavy edge on one side of each strip.  While I was at it – I cut out five more 1/2″ x 3 7/8″ strips from various other designs of the Friends of the Ocean DSP.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the strips to the card front. Note: I lined up the left edge of each strip with the left edge of the card panel and then I trimmed the excess from the right side using my Paper Snips.

I matted the panel on Summer Splash cardstock using Liquid Glue and then on a Basic White mat with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I die cut an Ocean Friends coral from Summer Splash 2024-2026 In Color Glimmer Paper and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

Using the dies in the set, I cut a lobster and a crab from the Friends of the Ocean DSP.  I adhered the lobster with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then I added his friend with a couple of Dimensionals and some Liquid Glue.  And – it seemed like a good idea to put a Dimensional under each of his claws to sort of prop them up like he’s waving!

I die cut some starfish – six from Pumpkin Pie and Melon Mambo paper from the Friends of the Ocean DSP and one from the Peach Pie 2024-2026 In Color Glimmer Paper.

I adhered the Glimmer starfish next to the sentiment and the others scattered around the card front using Liquid Glue.

Finally, I added some Summer Splash gems from the Sunny Day Iridescent Gems and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the crab outline in Melon Mambo ink and the fill in stamped-off-once Melon Mambo.  Then I added the bubbles in Summer Splash ink. Note: there are two bubble stamps in the Ocean Friends set – I put them BOTH on a single block so I could stamp all of them at once!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of my Calypso Coral card base, adhered the double-matted card front with Liquid Glue and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Ocean Friends crab and bubbles on the front…

…and some of the Friends of the Ocean DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Puxatawny Phil saw his shadow so I suspect it’s chilly where you are – and is likely to be for a minute!  But when you pull out the bright, sunny colors of the Friends of the Ocean DSP and combine it with denizens of the deep from the Ocean Friends bundle…you’ll have a little taste of summer!  On a card!
