Stampin’ Up! Airy Hot Air Balloon Double Z-Fold Birthday Card with Video for Creative Creases #79

Good morning! It’s Good Friday and Sunday is coming!! Wishing you all a blessed Easter weekend!

My card today is one that is just too stinkin’ cute (she says modestly!) with a flurry of Hot Air Balloons worthy of any balloon festival anywhere!  With some Lighter Than Air DSP to set the stage – I think this Double Z-fold is one you’re going to want to make!  Take a look-see:

Stampin' Up! Airy Hot Air Balloon Double Z-Fold Birthday Card with Video for Creative Creases #79 - Stamps-N-Lingers

You’ll see this card – along with the other Design Team members’ cards –  at this week’s Creative Creases Challenge! We’re all about the Fun Folds and I hope you’ll come and join us!

The pretty color palette was inspired by the Sunday Stamps color challenge this week!

This Double Z-Fold starts with two pieces of Daffodil Delight card stock.  The larger piece measures 4 1/4″ x 11″ and is scored at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″.  The first score is folded as a mountain and the second score as a valley.

The smaller piece – measuring 1 1/2″ x 11″ – is scored at 5 1/2″ and 8 1/4″.  The first score line (5 1/2″) folded as a mountain and the second as a valley.

I matted some Bubble Bath Subtles 6″ x 6″ DSP and some Bubble Bath Lighter Than Air 6″ x 6″ on Crumb Cake and adhered them to the two smaller panels on the card base.

I did the same with some Crumb Cake Neutrals 6″ x 6″ DSP and adhered them to the three sections of the Z-fold mechanism.

I made some balloons and balloon decorations using the fun dies in the Hot Air Balloon die set.

– I cut two large solid balloons – one in Lemon Lolly (Subtles DSP) and one in Crumb Cake (Neutrals DSP)

– I cut one solid heart balloon in Lemon Lolly Lighter Than Air DSP.

– I cut the detailed heart balloon in Bubble Bath cardstock and used Liquid Glue to adhere it to the solid heart balloon.

– I cut two flag banners – one in Lemon Lolly and one in Bubble Bath cardstock.

– I cut a swag banner from Bubble Bath cardstock.

– I stamped a solid Basic White banner – and used Liquid Glue to adhere the Bubble Bath swag banner to it.

– I stamped the Hot Air Balloon sentiment in Crumb Cake ink on Basic White and cut it out with the fun sentiment banner die.

– I cut out three gondolas  – one each in Bubble Bath, Lemon Lolly and Crumb Cake.

– I cut out three Basic White clouds – two large and one small.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the pieces and parts that I’d die cut to the various balloons.

I stamped the second sentiment from Hot Air Balloon on a piece of Basic White cardstock and matted it on Crumb Cake.

I stamped the two-step balloon from the Hot Air Balloon set in Daffodil Delight (step 1) and Bubble Bath ink (step 2).  And I stamped a Bubble Bath gondola.  Then I adhered the matted panel to the inside of the card base with Liquid Glue.

I adhered the Z-fold mechanism to the card base – using Liquid Glue on the left end of the longer section and on right end as well.  The video gives you a really good look at how to do this – WAY better than words!

I adhered the sentiment balloon to the front portion of the Z-fold – using Liquid Glue on the gondola and a couple of Dimensionals on the left side of the balloon – being careful that they didn’t extend past the end of the card base.

Then I tucked the middle balloon in – adhering it with Liquid Glue on the left side of the balloon and on the gondola. The heart balloon went on last with a couple of Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added the clouds: a large cloud on the left side with Liquid Glue; a small cloud on the right with Liquid Glue; the final large cloud with a Dimensional.  Again – see the video for the how-to’s and where-for’s! 🙂

I added a flurry of Iridescent Adhesive-backed Discs (carrying over into the new catalog!) and the card was done.

But…I thought there’s not really room to write a sentiment so…I made a quick and easy back panel from a piece of Basic White – and the cute stamped balloon!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Hot Air Balloon balloon in Daffodil Delight and Bubble Bath ink on the front…

…and more of the Neutrals 6″ x 6″ DSP in Crumb Cake on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I was really happy to see that the Hot Air Balloon set is going to carry over into the new 2024-2025 Annual Catalog!!  It’s so much fun – and really easy to get creative and make tons of beautiful balloons (which are SOOO colorful and fun IRL, too)!

But – take note!  Although you WILL be able to get the stamp set and the dies in the new catalog – you will NOT be able to get the 10% Bundle pricing!!  So…if you don’t have this one already and want it – get it NOW while you can save 10% by snagging the bundle!  The fun Lighter Than Air 6″ x 6″ DSP is NOT carrying over so… pick you up a couple packs right quick while you still can!  And then – MAKE this card! 🙂
