Stampin’ Up! Wild Ferns Postage Thank You Card with Video

Happy Sunday, y’all!  Hope you’re having a great weekend!!  We’re having a little spell of “Spring Sneak Peek” and it’s glorious!

My card today is all about ferns in Spring-y colors with the pretty Wild Ferns Bundle and some Fern 3D Embossing.  My fave die cut shapes – the Perennial Postage dies – are also front-and-center.  Take a look-see:

The pretty color palette was inspired by the Global Design Project color challenge.

I started by embossing a piece of Basic White cardstock in the Fern 3D Embossing Folder and then matting it on Flirty Flamingo for the card front.

I used a Perennial Postage die to cut out four Basic White rectangles.  I just love this die set, don’t you?!

On each of the four die cuts, I stamped a fern image from the Wild Ferns Bundle.  For each image, I first inked the whole stamp in Daffodil Delight ink and then used a Sponge Dauber to add Pumpkin Pie to parts of the image – then I stamped the die cut.  Tip: when you make this card – be sure to clean the stamp between each stamping – or the colors will get all mixed and muddied!

I adhered the four die cuts to the card front in a simple grid using Liquid Glue.

I used the two corner foliage dies from the Wild Ferns die set to cut out two Vellum cardstock corners.  Using Liquid Glue – I adhered the two corners together and then to the card front.  Tip:  be sparing with the glue – you don’t want it to show.  AND – in the video, you’ll see a little trick I used to trim the ends of the vellum die cuts.

I stamped the Wild Ferns sentiment in Pumpkin Pie on a piece of Basic White and cut it out with the medium rectangle Wild Ferns die.  Then I popped it over the Vellum with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I used two lengths of Flirty Flamingo baker’s twine to tie a simple bow and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I colored a Paper Butterfly Accent with Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight ink using a Sponge Dauber and adhered it with a double-stack of small pieces of Stampin’ Dimensional.

Finally, I added a few Flirty Flamingo Rainbow Adhesive-backed Dots and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second Wild Ferns sentiment in Pumpkin Pie ink on a Basic White panel.  Over the top, I stamped the fern – colored in Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie (like on the front).  I added a single Brushed Brass Butterfly.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Flirty Flamingo mat and into my Daffodil Delight card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Wild Ferns image on the front…

…and on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I do love this Wild Ferns bundle – and I REALLY love it paired with a Fern 3D Embossed panel.  It just seems so…right!  I am hope hope hoping that the Perennial Postage dies are planned to be in the next Annual Catalog – cuz…they’re just so danged handy!!

  1. Amy Koenders

So pretty Mary! Love the colors and the layering is perfect! And someone has to take Finn for a walk…it might as well be him. 😉

  2. Ineke

    Hello, Mary!
How is your back??? Any improvement?
Love that Dauber technique, especially for flora.
And just fell in love with Finn! Our li’l Misty has a Finn BFF, both are Golden Retrievers. When they’re done playin’, they’re black retrievers!
Thank you so much, Mary, for your great cards and awesome layouts and hilarious commentary!
    Is Amy your upline, perhaps?
    Love and healing hugs,
    Ineke

Hey Ineke – thank you so much! It’s getting better – still got the fracture but some of the trauma swelling is subsiding, I think – which makes it easier to manage! Your fur-kids sound like fun! And yep – Amy IS my upline! 🙂
