Good morning and Happy Monday! I hope your weekend was good and that you got some errands and Christmas-prepping knocked out! We stuck pretty close to home – it rained most of yesterday and…that kinda made hunkering down seem like the best bet! 🙂
While I was hunkering, I pulled out some new goodies from the Jan-Apr 2024 Mini Catalog and made a Sympathy Card. No – I don’t need a sympathy card right now but…I think it’s never a bad plan to have one on hand. As it happens, the new Wild Ferns bundle – which caught my eye first thing when I saw the new catalog – is a perfect source for pretty images, sentiments (including sympathy) and foliage (my fave!). I used it – along with a new background stamp called…Botanical Beauty. Take a look-see:
The layout for this one was inspired by the Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch this week.
And the colors are based on the photo inspiration from The Card Concept challenge! I’d call the style…clean and graphic. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
I used our new Stampin’ Brayer – coming in the new catalog in January – to apply Pumpkin Pie ink to the new Botanical Beauty stamp.
Then I stamped my Basic White card front with the image.
I cleaned the Brayer and then used it to add Crushed Curry ink to the card front. I left the streaks and uneven-ness. It’s a cool look and reminds me of Venetian plaster!
I double-matted the card front – first on Blackberry Bliss and then on Crushed Curry.
I used one of the pretty corner/foliage dies from Wild Ferns…
…to cut out two of the same corner shapes – one in Blackberry Bliss and one in Crushed Curry.
I adhered the two corner dies to the card front with Liquid Glue – with the Crushed Curry die cut first – offsetting the “top” one a little so that you can see both layers.
On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the sentiment from Wild Ferns in Blackberry Bliss ink. Then I used the largest of the rectangle dies in the Wild Ferns set to cut it out.
Using Stampin’ Dimensionals – I adhered the sentiment onto the card front.
I added some brand new Adhesive-backed Cork Rounds (yes, coming in January!) and the card front was done!
On the inside, I stamped a fern from Wild Ferns in Crushed Curry on a Basic White panel. Over the top, I stamped a second Wild Ferns sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink. Then I added more of the Cork Rounds.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to Blackberry Bliss and Crushed Curry mats and then into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Wild Ferns fern in Crushed Curry on the front…
…and again on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! I KNEW there was a reason that the Wild Ferns bundle caught my eye first thing – I love the sentiments and you know I’m a sucker for foliage dies! And – I’m ALSO that person that grabs ALL the background stamps and this new Botanical Beauty is a super good one that I bet I’m going to use a lot! And – how cool is having a Brayer back in the line-up!? It just adds one more coloring technique to our arsenal! 🙂
