Stampin’ Up! Botanical Layers Les Shoppes Thank You Card

Happy Monday, y’all!  It’s a short week – for those of you who are working! – so…YEAH!  But it’s also a BUSY week, right?! Cooking and cleaning and getting ready for T-day!  It’s…T-4 to T-D! 😂

My card today befits a busy week – it’s super quick and easy – and showcases the cool Botanical Layers stamp set from the Annual Catalog and a fun stamping technique, too!  A little Les Shoppes DSP – also from the Annual Catalog – was a perfect fit!  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week.

And the color palette – one of my faves! – is from the Color Throwdown Challenge!

I started by inking the leaves image from the Botanical Layers set in Versamark Ink and stamping it all over a Shaded Spruce panel.  I let it dry – it takes just an extra few minutes – and that creates a cool tone-on-tone effect!  😎😎  Then I matted it on Bubble Bath cardstock to make the card front.

Tip: this is a fun way to add a little sumpin’-sumpin’ to a card – but…the effect is different depending on the color of cardstock on which you’re stamping.  Try it out on a piece of scrap to see if it’s what you want – sometimes it’s so faint you can’t see it at all and you’ll want to go with a different technique!

I matted a narrow piece of Les Shoppes DSP on Bubble Bath and then to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I repeated the Versamark stamping on a strip of Smoky Slate cardstock and then, when it was dry, matted it on Bubble Bath and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

I tied a small bow from a piece of Very Vanilla Baker’s Twine and adhered it with a little dab of Liquid Glue.

One more time, I did the Versamark stamping (using a smaller flower stamp from Botanical Layers) on a small piece of Smoky Slate cardstock.

When it was dry, I stamped the sentiment from Botanical Layers in Shaded Spruce over the top.

I matted the sentiment on Bubble Bath cardstock and used Dimensionals on the left side and Liquid Glue on the right to adhere it over the bow.

I added some Adhesive-backed Dragonflies & Birds and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the second sentiment from Botanical Layers in Shaded Spruce on a Basic White panel.  Over the top, I stamped the leaf image in stamped-off-once Smoky Slate.  Then I added another dragonfly cuz…who can resist them!?

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Bubble Bath mat and then into the Smoky Slate card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Botanical Layers leaf in Smoky Slate on the front…

…and more of the Les Shoppes DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Quick and easy – but oh so pretty!  I love the leafy images and pretty sentiments in Botanical Layers – and it really works swimmingly with the Versamark stamping, don’t you think?? And don’t forget to look thru all your papers to find what you need!  I wasn’t thinking of Les Shoppes DSP for this card but…there it was!  So pretty! 🙂
