Stampin’ Up! Joy of Christmas Noel in Plaid Christmas Card with Video Tutorial

Happy Half-Way-Thru-the-Weekend!  Did y’all know there was a solar eclipse yesterday?  We had sorta on-again-off-again scattered clouds so – it was a little hard to tell.  But, there were some times that it seemed darker outside than either the time of day or the sky conditions warranted! 🤷‍♀️ So – I guess it was sort of a non-event!

My card today, however, is a celebration of…woodgrain, Cherry Cobbler Plaid, pine boughs, layers, twine.  In other words – it’s a TOTAL Mary Card!  It hails from the Christmas Classics and Joy of Noel Bundles – with help from Joy of Christmas and Joyful Specialty DSPs.  Take a look-see:

The layout is from the Try Stamping On Tuesday sketch challenge.

And the plaid and woodgrain works well with the Global Design Project theme challenge.

I started by adhering a piece of woodgrain Joy of Christmas DSP on a Mossy Meadow mat for the card front.

Using a rectangle die from the All That die set, I cut out three plaid rectangles from another piece of the DSP.  These are adhered to a Mossy Meadow mat – and then to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I cut some foliage…

– Two Mossy Meadow pine boughs from the Joy of Noel die set

– Two Old Olive holly leaves from the Christmas Classics die set

– Three Distressed Gold leaves from the Christmas Classics die set

I collage-i-fied all the foliage to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I untwisted a length of the Silver-Threaded Twine and then took four strands of it to make a figure-8 bow on the card front.  I used Stampin’ Seal+ to adhere it.

Using the next-to-largest square die from the Stylish Shapes set, I cut out a piece of Cherry Cobbler, music-strewn paper from the Joyful Specialty Paper.

I adhered the die cut square over the bow and foliage with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Using the too-cool-for-school die from the Joy of Noel die set, I cut out the NOEL from Very Vanilla cardstock.

I adhered the die cut letters onto the Joyful square with Liquid Glue.

Then I used little dots of Liquid Glue (and the putty-end of the Take Your Pick tool) to adhere three red jewels from the Loose Holly Gems & Sequins – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the Christmas Classics sentiment in Cherry Cobbler on a Very Vanilla panel. Over the top, I stamped the Joy of Noel pine bough in stamped-off-once Mossy Meadow.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Mossy Meadow mat and into my Thick Very Vanilla card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got the Joy of Noel pine bough on the front…I stamped it three times without re-inking…

…and a little more Joy of Christmas DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I dunno ’bout y’all – but when I think “Christmas Card” – this is what is in my head.  Cherry Cobbler.  Mossy Meadow.  Pine boughs!  Which is why the Joy of Noel bundle, Christmas Classics and Joy of Christmas DSP are MUST HAVES for the holiday season! And – a little music never hurts at Christmas – so…Joyful Specialty DSP is ALSO a staple!

Finn Fan Fix

Sometimes, when I head out the door to feed, the man shows up with a friend.

If I already have the door open – I have to make a FAST dive to snag him up.  Mr. Squirrel can NOT go outside.  Real squireels – outside.  Mr. Squirrel – inside.

I have to convince him that Mr. Squirrel will be right here…

…when we come back inside.

So far – he always has been! 🤷‍♀️

Really like the layout and the colors!!!! Beautiful card, Mary!

  2. I love this card! Feel a CASE coming on.
If Finn is anything like Kalvin (neighbor dog who comes frequently), he has a hard time catching the REAL squirrels, so perhaps taking his own outside seems like a good idea.

    • stampsnlingers

He’s only caught one that I know of – so…he’s not really a “hunter”. I think that one was just lucky! Thanks so much, Julie! 🙂

  3. Amy Koenders

Such a pretty Christmas card! Love the colors and the mix of designer papers, perfect! Poor Finn…he just wants to take Ms Squirrel out to meet his other squirrel friends. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you so much, Amy! And yes – he’s just trying to “include” him! 🙂

  4. Wendie

Absolutely love your card. All the elements are just perfect!

  5. Kate

    Beautiful card.
    Timeless and timely message.
Yes. Squirrels must maintain their boundaries. 😏

Yes – gotta keep ’em under control at all times! Thank you, Mom! 🙂

  6. Mary, this is so gorgeous and regal!
