Stampin’ Up! Merry & Bright Sneak Peek Christmas Card with Video Tutorial

Good morning and Happy Friday!  And it’s the Friday before a three-day weekend!  Whoo-hoo!!  Hope you have some fun plans for the last blowout of the summer! And – are you all ready for the 6th?!?  I hope so – the launch of a new catalog is so fun!!

If it’s not already, then you MIGHT decide that the Merry & Bright Bundle and several of the coordinating products in the Merry, Bold & Bright Suite are going to be on your list!  Maybe today’s card will tip the scales! Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from The Paper Players sketch challenge this week!

I started by adhering the Fa La La La design from the Merry, Bold & Bright DSP to the front of a Poppy Parade card base using Liquid Glue.

Next is a panel strewn with Christmas lights, matted on Flirty Flamingo and adhered with Liquid Glue. Then I adhered a Basic White Stylish Shapes die cut square with more Liquid Glue.

I used the strings die in the Merry & Bright Die set to cut out a Shaded Spruce string.  You actually get TWO when you use this die – I picked the one with a tangle.  It seemed more likely!  I trimmed it down a bit with my Snips.

On a piece of Basic White, I stamped three lights from Merry & Bright – two in Flirty Flamingo and one in Poppy Parade.  I stamped the filaments in each light in Poppy Parade and cut them out with the matching Merry & Bright die.

I also cut three light “tops” from Granny Apple Green Foil (this is part of the Merry, Bold & Bright Suite – that you’ll be able to get on 6 Sept!). Using Liquid Glue – I adhered the die cut tops to the top of each of the lights.

I adhered the lights with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I “threaded” the die cut light string thru the tops of the lights – and used some little dabs of Liquid Glue to secure it to the card front.

On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the two sentiment words from Merry & Bright in Granny Apple Green and Flirty Flamingo.  I cut them out with my Paper Snips (the world’s SECOND easiest fussy cut!).

I adhered the words to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and added a few Granny Apple Green Iridescent Adhesive-backed Discs (also part of the Suite!) and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped two more Merry & Bright sentiment words in Granny Apple Green and Flirty Flamingo on a Basic White panel.  Across the lower part of the panel, I stamped the light string in Shaded Spruce.  Then I added light tops in Granny Apple Green, lights in Flirty Flamingo and Poppy Parade, and the filaments in Poppy Parade.  I added a few Granny Apple Green Iridescent Adhesive-backed Discs – cuz they’re pretty and nice and FLAT!!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Flirty Flamingo mat and into the Poppy Parade card base and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got more lights on the front…

…and more Merry, Bold & Bright DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  If you’re looking for a fun and cheerful and…Merry & Bright!…Christmas card – then the Merry, Bold & Bright Suite should be near the top of your gotta-have it list!

Finn Fan Fix

Excuse me? I was wondering…

Were you going to eat that?

I mean – I don’t really know what it is but…

Yes – I would eat it for you if you didn’t want it.

Y’all – we had sad news last night.  Finn’s Daddy – BJ – went to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday 🌈🌈🌈💔💔💔.  His parents had done everything – and they found cancer during an exploratory surgery.  They made the right – and most loving – and most God-awful – decision to let him go peacefully.

So – he’s now happy and healthy and running with Bonnie (Finn’s mom)…

and Scout (Finn’s sister)…

and Meghan (his Aunt) whom I don’t have a photo of, I’m sorry.

Only those of us left behind are hurting – and…counting on seeing them all again.

Yes – he was a big silly boy like his son!

And he loved his new little sister, Faith.

…always ready to teach her the ropes. Or – the sticks.

Rest easy, BJ.  Know you were loved by many and will be missed every day!

Such a fun card design! Love the colors and the layering is perfect! Yes..you were eating from that stick so it much be good! And surely he could just have a nibble?? 😉

So sorry to hear about Finn’s dad. Sounds like he lived a pretty awesome life!

  2. Audrey

Mary, So sorry for the loss of Finn’s Daddy. His family is so beautiful and one can tell by their smiles that they were loved deeply. It is difficult to make that final decision but I too believe we will see our beautiful and beloved pets again.

    • stampsnlingers

They all had such good lives – and knew they were loved every single moment of every single day. Thanks so much, Audrey.

  3. YOur captions of the pics of Finn are perfect. I can almost hear him talk! 🙂
So sad to hear of the loss of a 4 legged fur family member, even when it isn’t your own family. THinking of you all.

  4. Oh, you made a card! Silly me to not comment on the card. It is cute, although not my taste. Something for everyone, right? Your O Holy Night card was more my type. Thanks for all you do to inspire us.

    • stampsnlingers

I know this one was less “you” than the O Holy Night one, for sure! Thank you, Julie! 🙂

  5. Gerri K

    Mary,
So sorry to hear of the loss of BJ. Of course I did not know him but having gone through it myself, I feel their pain.
I do so love your Finn stories. They always make me smile. And your card today is great!! Such a happy Christmas card.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks very much, Gerri – it’s what we sign up for in trade for spending their too-short lives with them! And we just keep signing up! 🙂

  6. Faith Simpson

Such a fun card, Mary….I really enjoyed watching you make it on You Tube yesterday.
Such sad news about BJ…so very sorry to hear that.
I’m a bit happy to know the puppy is named “Faith” !!

  7. Jean Goerlach

So sorry for the loss of this sweet fur baby. 😥😥😥

  8. Trudy Reese

Prayers and thoughts for you and friends

    Trudy

  9. Susan Ray-Hendricks

I’m so sorry for the lose of BJ. It is never easy losing a beloved pet, having lost several over the years. It just takes time and hopefully his little friend will be able to cope with his loss also.

    • stampsnlingers

It sure does – and it comes back and hits you when you least expect it, doesn’t it?! :(. Thank you so much, Susan!

  10. I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Bonnie had gone before, but I guess I forgot Scout did too. I think Finn got his shenanigans from his dad. They are all wonderful creatures. Does Finn like grapes? I like your card…it’s very merry and bright 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Finn likes all food – grapes are…meh! Which is good, since they’re toxic to dogs and he can’t have them! Thank you so much, Karen! 🙂

  11. Susan K

Cute card and great take on the challenge. So Christmasy. TFS. Nice of Finn to eat up all leftovers, even the inedible ones. So sorry to read about BJ. Send my hugs to his parents please.

    • stampsnlingers

Will surely do that, Susan – thank you. They’re hurting. Thanks very much, my friend! 🙂

  12. Kathleen VanDeVeere

    Rejoicing at the bridge…but 😪

  13. Your card is festive and fabulous, Mary! Thanks so much for joining us this week over at The Paper Players! SO sorry about Finn’s dad. Such a tough decision to have to make. Run free sweet boy!

    • stampsnlingers

The hardest ever – and the most important that we make for them. Thanks so much, Anne Marie! 🙂

  14. Gail S.

Cute card! This set is somewhat “out” from what I usually am interested in, but I’m beginning to think there may be ways I can use it to make it more “me”. It looks as if BJ was definitely well loved, and that is the ultimate. We’re looking forward to the “pack” that has preceded us to greet us when we go. They’re still family as well as the 2-legged ones!

    • stampsnlingers

I know – I felt the same way. And then I used it – and it is so much fun!! Thank you so much, Gail. And – yes – that bridge better be a thing. I am COUNTING on it! 🙂
