Stampin’ Up! Countryside Sending Birthday Wishes Card

Good morning, all.  So – all day Saturday and into the evening – no internet.  No comms from Comcast.  No texted updates.  Nada.  Zero.  Zilch.  My hotspot is getting a workout!  It lets me do what I NEED to do – but not a lot of what I WANT to do.  You know?? Like…a streaming YouTube video?!  🤦‍♀️🥹

The only person in the family who isn’t annoyed by the whole mess is Finn.  As long as there’s AC and pumpkin for his food – he’s GTG!  I guess I’m sorta the same.  Maybe without the pumpkin.

The card I WOULD have shared with you last night harkens back to an old fave – the Sending Smiles stamp set and the coordinating (but no longer bundled!) Sending Dies.  I paired them up with some pretty Countryside Inn DSP to make a pretty birthday card.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from the Sketch Saturday challenge this week.

And my DSP selection was inspired by this week’s Global Design Project theme challenge.

I started by adhering a piece of Countryside Inn DSP to a Misty Moonlight mat to make the card front.

I took another piece of the DSP (the Balmy Blue piece) and adhered it to Misty Moonlight as well.  The matted strip was longer than I needed – on purpose.

Using Liquid Glue – I adhered the matted strip to the card front on the diagonal – with the excess hanging off each corner.  Then I used my Paper Trimmer to cut off those extra pieces. 🙂

I cut the largest Stylish Shapes circle from a piece of Basic White cardstock and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped a bunch of Daffodil Delight flowers and Granny Apple Green and Garden Green leaves from the Sending Smiles set.  And then I cut them all out with their coordinating Sending Dies.

I added copper Metallic Enamel Effects to the flower centers and then….let them dry really well!  Note: I made them thick to add some texture and dimension – so it took a minute for them to dry completely – even though I helped them along with the lowest setting on my Heat Tool.

I laid everything out to see how best to adhere all the elements.  Then, I proceeded to adhere all the pieces and parts with Liquid Glue.  Even that bow – tied with two lengths of Parakeet Party 2022-2024 In Color Baker’s Twine!

I used the Sending Dies to cut out a Misty Moonlight detailed sentiment and a Basic White shadow sentiment – and then adhered the Misty Moonlight die cut to the white shadow with Liquid Glue.

I adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and a little Liquid Glue.

I stamped a Sending Smiles sentiment in Misty Moonlight on Basic White cardstock and cut it out with the smaller label die in the Sending Dies.  Then I adhered it over the bow with double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a few Misty Moonlight gems from the Tinsel Gems 3-Pack and the card front was done!

For the inside, I stamped a second Sending Smiles sentiment in Misty Moonlight on a Basic White panel. In the corner, I stamped a flower in Daffodil Delight – and added a copper Metallic Enamel Effects center (making it much thinner on this one so it would dry faster!).

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Misty Moonlight mat and into my Night of Navy card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Sending Smiles flower (including the copper Metallic Enamel Effects!) on the front…

…and more of the Countryside Inn DSP on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  The Sending Smiles stamp set is one of my favorites – I REALLY love the flowers in this one!  And I’m a fan of fun sentiments – especially DIE CUT sentiments.  I like that the set is very complete – with flowers AND sentiments and the Sending Dies that cut out BOTH!  The beautiful blues of the Countryside Inn DSP make it likely that this paper will go down in SU! history as one of the best ever!

It’s pretty hard to get away with sneaking the Man any extra little licks.

He wears his treat on his lips!

But he gives me sit pretty without even asking!

  1. Printed out the pdf…thank you for that! Saturday night at 7 was not the same for me…I had to read a book…lol. Sometimes Comcast really falls down on the job. I lost mine on Wed., (internet and cable for 7 hrs.) and missed out on Gordon Ramsey’s shows. I was thankful for cellular data though. The poor Xfinity guy had to work in rain and thunder. He gave up when it got dark. The box is right on the corner of my lot so I got to watch him to be sure he stayed safe. Finn, oh what a delight he is!

    • stampsnlingers

Yikes! Gotta love those guys working in conditions like that! Glad you like the card!! Thanks!

  2. Pretty card! Love the daisy images, perfect on the blue background! Bummer on the internet…I can’t believe that it’s still out!! Yeah, Finn did get a little busted…he needs to get better at wiping his chin! 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Amy! And yep – his table manners got him caught! LOL!

  3. Faith Simpson

This is a beautiful card, Mary! It would have been fun to watch you make it (smile)….oh, we are so at the mercy of Comcast (or whoever…)
Love these sweet pictures of Finn…..he is SUCH a handsome dude!!

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – it would have been fun to MAKE it for y’all! Whatcha gonna do?!? Thanks so much, Faith! 🙂

  4. Pat C.

Beautiful card, Mary! I’m looking forward to the video when it’s available.
And Finn sitting pretty…all sorts of handsomeness! 🥰

    • stampsnlingers

Probably won’t be a video on this one, I’m so sorry! Thanks! And – he IS awfully handsome! 🙂

  5. Missed you last night. When I went to the link and there was nothing for 10 minutes, I decided that you still were without internet. Lovely card, and Finn does ‘sit pretty’! What was he licking?

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – stupid thing didn’t come back until sometime in the night. :(. He was licking the sour cream spoon. :). Thanks!

  6. Kate

He knows what a pretty sit will gain him…still…pretty pretty

  7. Beautiful card, love the color combo, one of my favorites! Finn does look a little guilty, like ‘what, who me?’ LOL
Thank you for joining our challenge at Sketch Saturday!
