Stampin’ Up! Trucking Along Faux Side-Step Fun Fold Card for the Amy’s Inkin’ Crew Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all – welcome to another edition of the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Team blog hop!  Each month we make projects centered around a theme – and this month our theme is Fun Folds!  Be sure to check and see everyone’s projects – we’ve got a bunch of talented ladies hopping with us this month!

I went back to one of my fave fun folds for this challenge – the Faux Side-Step fun fold! And I decorated it up for Christmas with the Trucking Along bundle and One Horse Open Sleigh DSP – BOTH are Online Exclusive products. Take a look-see:

I started with a 5 1/2″ x 8″ piece of Early cardstock that, using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool, I scored along the long side at 3″, 6″ and 7″.  I folded the scored lines as a mountain (3″), valley (6″) and mountain (7″).  This is the main card base.

Then I scored a 3″ x 6″ piece of Early Espresso cardstock at 4 1/4″ – and folded it as a mountain.  That’s the side-step panel.

On the right side of a piece of One Horse Open Sleigh 6″ x 6″ DSP, I stamped the Trucking Along sentiment in Pebbled Path ink.  I inked part of the sentiment and stamped it, then inked the second part and stamped it underneath.

Then I matted it on Pebbled Path cardstock and adhered it to the larger front panel of the main card base.

I matted a narrow strip of a different design and adhered it to the narrow panel on the front of the main card base.

For the smaller front panel – the larger piece of the folded 3″ x 6″ Early Espresso, I cut a piece of the One Horse Open Sleigh 6″ x 6″ DSP – keeping the sweet little deer mostly centered.  I cut him out with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel (with the hole cut out) onto a piece of Pebbled Path cardstock and then to the front of the side-fold piece.

I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the punched out deer to a Pebbled Path Stylish Shapes die cut circle – and then adhered it back in place on the small panel using Liquid Glue – lining up the trees.

Now – to make the truck!  I stamped the truck image in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock and again on a piece of Real Red One Horse Open Sleigh DSP.  On the Basic White image, I stamped the tire-fill image from the stamp set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

I used the Trucking Along Builder Punch to punch out the Basic White image – and Paper Snips to cut out the DSP image (on that one – I did NOT include the tires.).

Using Stampin’ Dimensionals – I adhered the fussy cut DSP truck over the Basic White truck.

I stamped the image again on a piece of Basic White – and used Paper Snips to cut out just the window.

I adhered the fussy cut window in place on the DSP truck using Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the palm tree image in Tuxedo Black and used the palm fill image to stamp in stamped-off-once Mossy Meadow. I used a Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker to color the trunk.  Using Real Red, Azure Afternoon and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends – I colored the surf board and life preserver ring.  And then…I fussy cut the image! 😳

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the die cut palm image “into” the back of the truck.

I added some white Adhesive-backed Snowflakes (an Online Exclusive embellishment!) here and there. In the center of each snowflake, I put a little drop of Copper Metallic Enamel Effects.

When the Enamel Effects was completely dry, I used Liquid Glue on the bottom of the back of the side-step panel to adhere it to the front of the card base – lining up the bottom edges.

I closed the card and then used Liquid Glue to adhere the smaller end of the panel to the back of the larger card base.

I stamp the “ground” image on the front of the card – crossing the “boundary” between the side-step panel and the narrow front panel.  I used the Pebbled Path Stampin’ Write Marker to fill in “gaps”.

Then I adhered the assembled truck to the card front with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done.

For the back, I stamped a second sentiment from the Trucking Along set in Pebbled Path on a woodgrain piece of One Horse Open Sleigh 6″ x 6″ DSP.  Across the bottom I stamped the presents image in Pebbled Path ink and colored them with the Real Red, Azure Afternoon, Daffodil Delight and Boho Blue Stampin’ Blends. I adhered a white snowflake and added a drop of the Copper Enamel Effects.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Pebbled Path mat and then to the back of the card (covering the “seam” of the side-step panel) and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Trucking Along presents on the front…

…and a little more woodgrain One Horse Open Sleigh 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I do love these faux side-step cards – and the cool thing is you can move the “step” to anywhere you want it based on your card front design!  For this one, I wanted the little deer from the One Horse Open Sleigh DSP “watching the Trucking Along truck trundle on by!
