Good morning on DAY 1 of 2023!! Did y’all make it to midnight?! Did you party hearty?
Does anyone even SAY Party Hearty anymore? 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
We did not. To either question. Are you shocked?? Y’all know me pretty well, so I’m betting you’re not even a little surprised!!
I’ve got the black eyed peas soaking and will pull some greens out of the freezer – so we’ll have THAT little business taken care of. And we have a ham that we’re going to smoke with some new rub and glaze that sounds yummy. So…we’ll start 2023 off with a bang! Hope you’ve got YOUR greens and peas ready to go, too!
The card I made today is not a Happy New Year card. That horse has left the barn, y’all! 😉 It’s a sympathy card – no, I didn’t have a need for one, but…it’s never a bad thing to have on hand! It features the pretty Seaside Bay bundle with the coordinating By the Bay 6″ x 6″ DSP. Take a look-see!
The layout for this one was inspired by the sketch challenge over at the Global Design Project this week.
I started by cutting a piece of pretty By The Bay 6″ x 6″ DSP with the largest Deckled Rectangle Die and adhering it to the front of a Crumb Cake card base using Stampin’ Seal.
Next – on a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock, I stamped several shell images and the “sand” image from the Seaside Bay set in Crumb Cake ink. To do it, I put all four of the stamps close together on an acrylic block and stamped them all at once – all over the panel!
Then I used the next-to-largest Deckled Rectangle die to cut out the stamped panel, which I then adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Seal.
Using the middle-size square die from the Stylish Shapes Die set, I cut out another design from the By The Bay DSP and adhered it with a little Liquid Glue. This paper is SO pretty, y’all – I can’t wait for you to be able to see it in person! Soon, Young Padawan, soon!
I used the grasses die from Seaside Bay to cut out some grass from a piece of By The Bay DSP. I also cut some from the Soft Succulent paper in the new Fine Shimmer Paper. While I was cutting, I cut out the large oyster from a piece of Balmy Blue Textured 12″ x 12″ Shimmer Paper.
I adhered a few grasses to the Stylish Shapes square.
Using my Light Petal Pink Stampin’ Blend – I colored a length of new Balmy Blue & White 1/2″ Variegated Ribbon and adhered a loop of it with Stampin’ Seal.
I snipped the oyster in half, curled the “top” half a little with a Bone Folder and adhered it over the ribbon and grasses with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then I added a couple more grasses with Liquid Glue to the top of the oyster.
On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Seaside Bay sentiment in Mint Macaron ink. I cut out the sentiment with a Stylish Shapes label die and added it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I added some small Flat Adhesive-backed Pearls (part of the By The Bay suite and available on 5 Jan!) and the card front was done!
On the inside, I cut another of the largest Deckled Rectangles from By The Bay DSP pieces and adhered it with Stampin’ Seal. Using the next size down Deckled Rectangle die, I cut a Basic White panel. In the corner, I stamped the sand and a shell image from Seaside Bay in Crumb Cake ink.
I adhered the panel to the inside of the card with Stampin’ Seal and the card was done!
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Crumb Cake sand and shell on the front…
…and more of the By The Bay DSP on the envelope flap!
Et Voila! This is such a pretty suite of products – anchored by the Seaside Bay bundle with the pretty sentiments and images and a great die set that cuts out all the images – PLUS some additional fun shapes – can you say…”real” oyster?!? And the By The Bay 6″ x 6″ DSP is absolutely gorgeous in its soft colors with bits of gold foil here and there! I love it!

Finn Fan Fix
Finny got a new toy yesterday.
You know – like you’d get a toy for a tiny human who’d had to get a shot at the doctor!
Check left…
Check right…
GO GO GO!!
I hadn’t actually got it as a consolation prize for the vet but…it HAPPENED to arrive JUST in time!!
Mom’s gotta take props where she can get it, ya know?! 😉

Such a pretty card! Perfectly layered. Yeah, getting shots is not fun…glad that Finn was able to console himself with a new toy. 😉
A toy goes a LONG way to soothing ruffled pantaloonies!! Thanks, Amy! 🙂
Lovely card. In fact, better than lovely, it is gorgeous. Love the layers and the colors. Soothing, just as a sympathy card should be.
Ohh – thank you so much, Julie! I appreciate that! 🙂
Lovely card, Mary! It’s been a lot of years since I’ve stayed up until midnight! 🙂 Looks like Finn is enjoying his new toy!
I don’t do it often – and seldom by choice! Thanks, Carol! 🙂
