Stampin’ Up! Sunkissed Tropical Hideaway Charming Sentiment with Video Tutorial

Happy happy Friday, y’all!  It’s a good day here – the new well system is in and should be operational by the end of the day.  So…only this last day with no water!  Whoo-hoo!

Before we kick off – remember that TWO things are ending today! Besides our water problem, that is!

First – my Double Peppermints ordering special on orders over $100 ends tonight!  And Second – my Special Bundles from the new Jul – Dec 2022 Mini Catalog will be going away tonight, too.  So…TWO last chance specials  Check it all out down below!

Now.  My card today features the Sunkissed stamp set – which will have you dreaming of Maui!  I set the tropical feel with the Tropical Hideaway background stamp and then…add a Charming Sentiments sentiment.  Take a look-see:

I also did a video on how to make this card – if you were able to join me for that, I appreciate you watching!  If not, but you’d like to see the replay, here ’tis on YouTube!

I started with a panel of Basic White in my Stamparatus and then used Garden Green and Granny Apple Green ink pads to color the Tropical Hideaway stamp.  I stamped a few times to get the color level I wanted and then used my Light Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blend to color a few leaves (I picked one “kind” and colored all of them on the panel).

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the front of my Thick Basic White card base.

I put a Basic White panel into the Stamparatus and used the Marker-to-Stamp technique to stamp the tropical scene from the Sunkissed set. In that technique, you use a Stampin’ Write Marker to color ON the stamp itself and then you stamp the image.  The Stamparatus is a key reason that we can use this technique – it lets you stamp the same exact spot multiple times!  And the technique lets you add multiple colors to a single image – like I’ve done here.

I colored the ocean with a Starry Sky and Tahitian Tide Stampin’ Write Marker.  The sand is colored with the Sahara Sand and Crumb Cake markers.  For the trees – I used Soft Suede on the trunks and Old Olive and Mossy Meadow on the leaves. I did add some Balmy Blue to the ocean – directly to the cardstock – using a Light Stampin’ Blend.

When I was done, I cut out the image with the 4th-from-largest Deckled Rectangle Die.

I made a Garden Green frame by cutting a 3th-from-largest Deckled Rectangle – and then cutting out the middle with the 4th-from-largest die.

I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the art panel – with its frame – to the card front.

I added little strip of Stampin’ Seal + and used it to wind a Parakeet Party 2022-2024 Baker’s Twine loop-de-doop.

Then I used Glue Dots to add a length of Natural 1/2″ Woven Ribbon.

I stamped the Charming Sentiments sentiment in Granny Apple Green on Basic White and cut it with the matching die from the bundled Sentiment Silhouettes die set.  I popped the sentiment over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added some Faux Sea Glass Shapes and the card front was done.

For the inside, I stamped a Sunkissed sentiment in Granny Apple Green on a Basic White panel.  Across the bottom, in Sahara Sand ink, I stamped the sand-and-shells image a few times, plus the pelican.  I used my Clear Wink of Stella to lightly color the shells and added some Faux Sea Glass Shapes.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Garden Green mat and into the Thick Basic White card base and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got more shells and sand from Sunkissed on the front…

…and the pelican and more sand on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love the Tropical Hideaway background stamp – it’s gorgeous all by itself!  But – it’s also a perfect backdrop for a tropical scene from the Sunkissed stamp set, right?! And – if you need sentiments – look no further than the Charming Sentiments set – with the wonderful Sentiment Silhouettes – to fill the bill!

If you’d like to recreate this card, all the products and card cuts you’ll need are down below!

And…I’ve also created a printable PDF with written instructions and a list of the products used to create this project.  You can download, print and/or save it by clicking this image:

Finn Fan Fix

It’s pretty amazing how many times a day we reach – without even consciously thinking about it! – for a lever that turns on water – or…flushes water somewhere.

We just…do it.  And assume it will work.

So – it takes a hot minute for the brain to adjust to that process NOT yielding the result we want.

Turns out…three days does NOT do it – at least not consistently!

As late as last night – three full days after going into the no-water zone…

…I was still trying to turn on the kitchen sink.  And – flush the toilet. To no avail, I might add.

I was reminded of a little something else this week.  Angels arrive in all forms to help us when we need them.

Sometimes – they ride in on red-and-white-and-silver monster trucks, wearing turnout gear.  And we know everything’s going to be okay.

And sometimes, they ride in in equipment trucks, wearing jeans and coveralls.  And we know everything’s going to be okay.

Sometimes, they look an awful lot like the guy you sleep next to every night, who frequently makes you crazy, often doesn’t listen and can’t hear a word you say when he does, has to eat dinner by 5, and builds everything like it might have to go to space in a week.  And – can fix and do everything.  And I KNOW that everything will always be okay.

Angels – in all their forms – are welcome sights, for sure. 🥰🥰🥰

So.  If all goes as we expect, the Clorox decontamination of the new well will be complete by around 4 this afternoon.

It’s already passed its initial QA inspection!

Purty, isn’t it?? 😉

  1. We are on well water too, and I can tell you there is nothing prettier than a brand new functioning well. Good luck and kudo’s with getting through the three days with no water. I know what that feels like too. You will never take water for granted again!!!

    • stampsnlingers

That is for sure – cuz an OLD one is sorta yucky looking! And yep. I am exceedingly grateful for that gush of water at the mere turn of a lever!! Thank you, Barbara! 🙂

  2. Beautiful card Mary! Sorry that I missed your live, I’ll check out the replay. 🙂 Yay for water again soon!!!! So scary that the fire was so close to your house. Glad that the well was fixed fairly quickly!

wow…..that is all so amazing……and what if that fire had happened while you were in Colorado?? So thankful that didn’t happen……and very glad you will be able to ‘flush’ and stay home tonight! We are most fortunate to live in a first world country! You are amazing to be turning out such pretty cards while all the chaos is going on around you……

    • stampsnlingers
