Stampin’ Up! Wildlife Wonder He’s the Man with Video Tutorial

Happy half-way-thru-the weekend.  Or…a third of the way, depending on whether you have tomorrow off or not!

Regardless – please remember what tomorrow is all about, would you??  Some Gave All.  🙂

My card today is a card with a masculine flair – from the cool Wildlife Wonder stamp set.  I used some He’s The Man DSP for the base of the card.  And it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the new Stylish Shapes dies play a pretty important role!  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one was inspired – a little loosely! – by the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week!

And I decided to do a masculine card based on the Inspire.Create Theme challenge!

I also made a video tutorial for you on how to make this card.  Some of you were able to watch last night (thank you!), but..if not, and you’d like to take a look at it, here ’tis on YouTube!  (Note: if you’re reading this post on your e-mail, you’ll need to click into the post – click on the title of the post – to get the link to the video! 😎)

I started by adhering a piece of He’s The Man DSP to a Crushed Curry mat using Liquid Glue.

Next, I cut two coordinating pieces of the DSP from the next-to-largest square Stylish Shapes Dies.  I adhered them to the card front with Liquid Glue.

The next layer is cut with the largest square Stylish Shapes die and popped on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Using Stampin’ Seal, I adhered a length of Sahara Sand Twill Ribbon from the Old Olive & Sahara Sand Twill Ribbon Combo Pack.

I stamped a Wildlife Wonder sentiment in Evening Evergreen on a piece of Basic White cardstock and cut it out with the third-from-largest circle Stylish Shapes die.  I popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals – and the card front was done!

For the inside, I stamped a second Wildlife Wonder sentiment in Evening Evergreen on Basic White cardstock.  Then I used my Stamparatus and stamped the owl from Wildlife Wonder in Crumb Cake ink.  Now – the image is cool enough (it’s actually the reason I bought this set to start with!) that you could stop right there.  But…you can also do what I did – which was use the power of the Stamparatus – and a Soft Suede and Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker – to add some feathery detail!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Crushed Curry mat and into my Evening Evergreen card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Wildlife Wonder owl on the front…

…and more of the He’s The Man DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Simple.  Quick (thanks to the amazing Stylish Shapes dies!).  And perfect for men – particularly with the He’s The Man DSP.  The Wildlife Wonder stamp set is a DistINKtive set – and the images are really wonderfully realistic!  They work well on their own (ie: one color, one stamp) due to the texturing added to the stamps by Stampin’ Up! but…when you roll in the Stamparatus you can add even more depth and realism with your Stampin’ Write Markers!

I hope you like!

If you’d like to recreate this card, all the products and card cuts you’ll need are down below!

And…I’ve also created a printable PDF with written instructions and a list of the products used to create this project.  You can download, print and/or save it by clicking this image:

We had a visitor the other morning.

He hung around long enough for me to fumble out my phone and get the camera fired up!  And then…whoosh!

I know.  They’re totally common.  But…I still think it’s cool to get this kind of a look at them!!

  1. Enjoyed watching you create this great masculine card. Perry and I were always thrilled when we saw hawks on our journeys. Now you’ve just got to have an eagle visit or an owl.

    • stampsnlingers

We’ve got the owls – so far no eagles that I’ve seen! THAT would be so cool! Thank you, Karen! 🙂

  2. Cool card! Sorry that I missed your live again…IHOP for dinner ran later than expected. 😉 Cool to see your visitor! I saw one swoop down in our back yard and fly off with a snake for its lunch…I decided that hawk could visit us any time. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Pancakes for dinner sounds wonderful – hope you had a good dinner! Thanks! 🙂

    Hi Mary,
I love how this card turned out! The owl is totally cute. I wasn’t home in time for your ‘live’, but I watched it later. I think the owl is my fav too…..

    • stampsnlingers

Glad you got to watch – and yes – he’s pretty darned handsome! Thanks, Faith! 🙂
