Stampin’ Up! Artfully Layered Vellum Birthday Card

Good morning and welcome to the work-week!  Hope it’s going to be a great one for you!

I indulged myself with today’s card and pulled out the Artfully Layered Bundle – with the wunnermus Tropical Layers die set.  The coordinating Artfully Composed DSP and very cool Vellum Layering Designs Paper added a perfect Maui-ian touch.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

And the colors and leaves are inspired by The Card Project inspiration photo.  I’d call the style Clean and Layered for this one! 🙂

I started by adhering a piece of Evening Evergreen Artfully Composed DSP on a Bumblebee mat.  Then I added a shorter panel in Old Olive.

I used some Stampin’ Seal + to adhere a panel from the Vellum Layering Designs paper – making sure the adhesive would be hidden by the other elements on the card.

I cut an Evening Evergreen and an Old Olive leaf using the Tropical Layers dies (Stampin’ Up! – if you’re listening…PLEASE carry this bundle over – I love these dies!!).  I adhered them to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I cut a third leaf from another design in the Vellum Layering Designs – it’s actually the black-printed version of the scripty design that I used for the card front!  I adhered it with Liquid Glue.

I used a little more Stampin’ Seal + to adhere a length of Bumblebee 1/4″ Gingham Ribbon in a loose “z”.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Artfully Layered sentiment in Early Espresso – then cut it out with a not-so ornate die from the Ornate Frames die set.  I adhered it to the card front – over the ribbon and the seam between the two DSPs – with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I cut a few Bumblebee leaves using the die from the Tropical Layers die set and adhered them here and there with little dabs of Liquid Glue.

I added a few Crushed Curry Playing With Patterns Resin Dots and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the leaf image from Artfully Layered twice on a Basic White panel – once in Evening Evergreen and once in Old Olive.  I added a few more of the Playing With Patterns Resin Dots. Cuz I could! 😉

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Bumblebee mat and into my Early Espresso card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Artfully Layered leaves in Old Olive and Evening Evergreen on the front…

…and more of the Artfully Composed DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I’m really not sure what my fave thing is on this card – but…the Tropical Layers die cut leaves – especially the one from the Vellum Layering Designs are certainly high on the list!  The Artfully Layered set – with it’s great sentiments and pretty leaves – is a perfect accompaniment.   Aloha…hey?!

Finn Fan Fix

Picture the scene.

You’re just casually sniffing every nook and cranny in the tack room while your mom is watering stupid plants in the other room.

You come across…a PEPPERMINT!

Quietly, carefully, stealthily (Department of Redundancy Dept – sorry), you gently pick up the peppermint in your soft Aussie lips.

She’ll never know.  She’s busy with the plants.

Stupid plants.

As you settle down to savor your snack a horrible realization hits you.

It’s…wrapped.

And you don’t have thumbs.

Or even fingers that will deal with the fiddly wrapper.

You’re not an animal – or a Haflinger – so…you can’t just eat it wrapper and all.

Sigh….

Beautiful card! I love the layering and that vellum I missed! TFS. Poor Finny…I’m sure you helped him when you realized his problem! He looks so dejected!
