Stampin’ Up! On the New Horizon at Sunset Thank You Card

Happy Happy Hawwwmp Day, y’all!  It is Spring here in GA.  I know this because on Sunday and Monday, we were outside in the garden – I was in shorts and a t-shirt and a little warmer than I’d like.  All the windows were open and it was…heavenly.  YESTERDAY – the furnace switched back on and I was bundled in my covers & hoodie – getting rained on.

Oh well.  I guess it’s gotta have one.  Last.  Gasp.  But I’ve signed the DNR on Winter, so…

My card today depicts a sunset somewhere – I choose to think it’s on Maui, but…maybe it’s in the Rockies – or a lake in Tennessee!  Regardless of what YOU see – I made it with the cool On the Horizon bundle and scenic New Horizons 6″ x 6″ DSP.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one was inspired by the challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches.

I started with a full card-front size piece of the New Horizons DSP (so…4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″).  I stamped the On the Horizon grasses image twice in Evening Evergreen (I stamped them both just below the “transition” between “ground” and “sky”.  Hmmm – some MIGHT even call that the … HORIZON!! 🤷‍♀️).

I added the birds in Evening Evergreen – stamping the image twice in the sky.  Where they belong!

I stamped the On the Horizon sentiment, in Evening Evergreen, at about the halfway point of the panel.

Using my Paper Trimmer, I cut the panel at 1″ from the top and then again at 3 1/4″ – which left me with a 1″ x 4 1/4″, a 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ and a 1 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the two smaller pieces to the top and the bottom of the front of my Evening Evergreen card base.

I matted the larger center piece on Soft Succulent and then popped it on with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I cut the Horizon Dies trees from Evening Evergreen and adhered them with Liquid Glue.  I also cut one Soft Succulent “row of cabanas” and adhered them over the trees with Mini Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.  They both extended past the right edge – so I trimmed the excess with my Paper Snips.

I stamped the wood board image from On the Horizon on a piece of Sahara Sand – in Sahara Sand ink – and cut one of each of the fence dies from the bundled Horizon Die set.

I did a dry fit with the fences and then added some Pebbles Enamel Shapes.  Then I adhered the two fences using pieces of Black Stampin’ Dimensionals – I cut them to fit the fence pickets!

Finally – I used the grass die to cut an Evening Evergreen shape and used Liquid Glue (on the large end) and a tiny piece of Black Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere it over the fence.  And – that was it for the card! 😉

On the inside, I stamped the grass image from On the Horizon in Evening Evergreen on a Very Vanilla panel.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Soft Succulent mat and into the Evening Evergreen card base and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got the On the Horizon grass on the front…

…and more New Horizons DSP on the envelope flap.  And…I stamped the birds a few times in Evening Evergreen, too – sort of “flying” across the flap!

Et Voila!  How much do you love this amazing New Horizons DSP!??  As much as I do, I’m suspicioning!  And the coordinating On the Horizon bundle – with the Horizon Die set – those fence panels!! – is just wunnermus!

I hope you like!

  1. Love your card! Perfect way to use that designer paper, fantastic scene! 🙂 A girl does need to shed that winter coat to look fabulous for spring. Beauty is one of those things that comes at a cost…even if it’s only a cost to the cleanup crew. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – she likes to get it gone fast – soooo itchy!! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

Gorgeous card! Looks so inviting! It was in the 20’s this morning here in Ohio – no daffodils 😒. Have you spotted any hummingbirds yet- according to the 2022 Hummingbird Migration map, they are making their way into Georgia – you do have your feeders out – right?😆

    • stampsnlingers

I haven’t seen any yet – but the feeders have been out since the 1st! Fingers crossed they show up soon! Thanks, Elisha!! Stay warm! 🙂

  3. You have made a beautiful scene. I like the splitting of the paper and making some of it dimensional. I am anxiously awaiting that set coming back in stock.

    • stampsnlingers

I know – fingers crossed that it’s back soon! 🙂 Thanks, Donna! 🙂

  4. Beautiful card! I’m jealous that you have daffodil’s in bloom…ours should bloom in a couple of weeks…I hope! 🙂

Fingers crossed for your daffies! I just love them!! Thanks, Carol! 🙂
