Stampin’ Up! Sweet Ice Cream Corner Square Thank You

Good morning! And happy Sunday!  How’s your weekend going?  Things are good here – the weather was gorgeous, if a little on the chilly side, yesterday.  So…we did a little bit outside (got more mulch, did a little debating about what to do where and how to build protective cages for our baby hostas and azaleas).  Finn got a ride to the landfill – twice! – and he liked that just fine.

And…I made pizza for dinner!  Yep – those two things are completely unrelated!  But I am sure you were dying to know what we had for dinner.  Right? 😉

If you were able to spend some of your slightly shorter weekend with me on my Facebook Live video last night, I appreciate it!  If not, here’s the replay on YouTube!

I wanted to play along with the Global Design Project’s “sweet treat” theme – and they used a little ice cream cone icon in their challenge badge.  So…in a fit of creative outside-the-box thinking, I pulled out the Ice Cream Corner DSP and the Sweet Ice Cream Bundle. 😉  Take a look-see:

This is a square card – which I don’t usually do – but I decided to stay true to the Freshly Made Sketches challenge sketch!

And, as mentioned, I played with the Global Design Project theme challenge, too!

I started with a square of Ice Cream Corner DSP that I cut into two triangles using my Paper Trimmer.  Then I adhered them – separated in the middle – to a Terracotta Tile mat with Liquid Glue.

Next up, I used a Stitched Triangle Die to cut a second Ice Cream Corner DSP design into two more triangles – being sure to keep the up-down orientation of the ice cream cones correct.  Nobody wants upside down ice cream cones! 😉

I adhered those to the first triangles with more Liquid Glue.

The square was cut from Terracotta Tile card stock using the largest square Stitched Shapes die and adhered with Liquid Glue.

Using the Ice Cream Cone Builder Punch, I cut a cone from the waffle-design paper in Ice Cream Corner.  I used the scoop part of the punch to cut three scoops from more of the DSP.

I stamped some Blackberry Bliss sprinkles on top of the lightest scoop using the stamp in the Sweet Ice Cream set.

My sentiment, from Sweet Ice Cream, is stamped in Blackberry Bliss on Basic White and cut with a Stitched So Sweetly rectangle die.

To build my cone, I first adhered the punched cone near the bottom with Liquid Glue.

Then I stacked the other scoops above – but…I left a little gap between the bottom scoop and the cone.  To make it a HUGE cone (ever have a cone from the Ghiradelli shoppe at Disney?  Yeah – like THAT!) with approximately 3.2 million calories.

I popped the sentiment over the gap in the cone with Stampin’ Dimensionals, added a Purple Posy enamel dot from the Playing with Patterns Resin Dots and the card front was done.

On the inside, I stamped a second Sweet Ice Cream sentiment in Blackberry Bliss on a piece of Basic White.  Then I stamped a Petal Pink “scoop” – with some Terracotta Tile sprinkles.  I made a sticky note mask for the scoop, then added the cone in stamped-off-once Cinnamon Cider – adding the “waffling” in full strength Cinnamon Cider.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Terracotta Tile mat and into my Early Espresso card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got a repeat of my ice cream cone on the front…

…and a little more Ice Cream Corner DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  A ginormous sweet treat from the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set and bundled Ice Cream Cone Builder Punch – plus some yummy Ice Cream Corner DSP!  And not a calorie to be found! 😉

I hope you like!

  1. Such a “sweet” card! Love that stack of ice cream! Poor Finn…I’m sure that he’s starving after having to smell that pizza baking and then endure popcorn too! 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – I’m sure it was a nightmare for him! It was hard for us waiting, too! 🙂 Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  2. Your pizzas look delicious! I can see the pepperoni (I think) but what is on the one above it? I though maybe Finn saw the card you made and wanted ice cream 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Well – he’d always eat ice cream – whether I’d made a card or not!! He’s not that picky! Going to talk about the pizza’s in his section on Monday! The toppings on the first one are grape tomatoes – basil – mozzarella – green chilies – pepperoni. The second is sauteed mushrooms – mozzarella – basil leaves. Simple. And oh-so-good! Thanks, Karen! 🙂

  3. Lynne Stephens

What kind of crust do you use? (You didn’t think you could share the pizza photo without someone asking about the crust, did ya? :))

    • stampsnlingers

I’m going to share a little pizza info on my Monday Finn Fan Fix!! 🙂 This one is my sourdough recipe!! 🙂

  4. Jacquie

What a fun design and great color palette! Thanks for playing along with us at FMS.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Jacquie! Appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  5. Now that’s a sweet card! I love the colors and patterns and, of course, the yummy ice cream cone! Thanks for playing along with us!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Jen – appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  6. Susan K

Love the ginormous ice cream cone and the triangles. Fun card and great take on the sketch.
Love, too, your interpretation of Finn’s talking. Could easily be both—I love you, will you share your popcorn! (Cooking with Lucca again?)

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Susan – it’s a fun set! And sort of cooking with Luca – used their technique with my sourdough crust in this case.

  7. When it comes to ice cream…go big or go home! Love your sweet card! Great colors! Glad you joined us at FMS!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Linda! And yes – if three scoops is good…four is better!! Especially if it’s GHIRADELLI ice cream!! 🙂
