Stampin’ Up! Wild Roses & Happy Thoughts Sneak Peek

Happy Happy Hawwwmp Day and…Merry Christmas Eve Eve!  Ready or not….it’s upon us, y’all!

We’re headed today to get my Christmas present.  I’m excited!  I mean – it’s a work thing, but…still!   Only downside is we have to do the trek to Atlanta to get it.  Bleh.  But – I’m still excited!

My card today is a play on the Triple Time Technique – made quick and easy with the oh-so-handy-and-awesome Stamparatus!  I used two new stamp sets – that you’ll be able to get on 5 Jan.  One is a lovely background stamp called Wild Roses and the other is the wonderful Happy Thoughts sentiment set.  Take a look-see:

So – if you break this down – it’s essentially three pieces of Whisper White – each is 1″ smaller on both sides than the preceding piece. So…4″ x 5 1/4″, 3″ x 4 1/4″ and 2″ x 3 1/4″.  And they each have a mat of Basic Gray.

The trick with this one is to set up the Stamparatus.  I placed the largest panel into the Stamparatus – with a piece of Small Grid Paper in it.  With a pencil – I marked where each corner was.  Then I placed the middle panel on – exactly where it would go on the card front – and marked it.  Finally – I did the same with the smallest panel.

I ran a little repositionable tape on the Small Grid Paper to hold each panel in place (you can’t use the Magnets because of the size of the background stamp).  Then I put the largest piece of Whisper White cardstock (the card front) in place.  I lay the Wild Roses stamp down onto the panel and picked it up with the Stamparatus acrylic plate.

I inked the stamp with my Rococo Rose ink pad and stamped the panel.

Then I replaced the panel with the next smaller piece – placing it into “its” marked corners.  I inked the stamp with Blushing Bride and stamped the panel.

Finally, I put the smallest piece of Whisper White in place and stamped it with Petal Pink ink.

I left that panel in place and positioned the sentiment from Happy Thoughts on top of it – then picked it up with the acrylic plate.  I inked it in Basic Gray and stamped the small panel.  I repeated that a couple of times to get the dark image I was looking for.

Using Liquid Glue, I matted each panel on a Basic Gray mat with Liquid Glue.  Then I adhered the middle panel to the card front with Liquid Glue and popped the sentiment panel on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The only trick here…be sure you keep the panels going in the same direction that you stamped them – so the image will line up!

I added a couple three Opal Rounds (coming in the Jan – Jun 2021 Mini Catalog on 5 Jan) and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Happy Thoughts in Basic Gray on a Whisper White panel.  In the corner, I added the little rose image from the new Forever & Always set (this is also going to be available on 5 Jan) in Basic Gray and colored it with my Dark Petal Pink Stampin’ Blend.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Basic Gray mat and into my Petal Pink card base, adhered the card front with more Liquid Glue and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got the Forever & Always flower in Basic Gray and Petal Pink on the front…

…and a piece of Petal Pink Subtles 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Triple Time is such a fun technique – and this Wild Roses stamp set is perfect for it – especially when you pair it up with the Stupendous Stamparatus!  But – since it’s an image-only stamp, you’ll want a great sentiment set to go with – and I am loving the new Happy Thoughts set!  It’s got such great sentiments – you’ll reach for it again and again (I know I am!)!

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Finn has some boundary issues.

He sort of figures – if it’s on the floor, it’s fair game. (Recently, he showed me that he is willing to consider things on a table – but within nose-reach – as fair game, too – but…that’s a whole ‘nuther story!)

And – he’s not at all concerned if the object on the floor belongs to his kitty-sister.  When Dad puts plates on the floor – they’re sharing.

Apparently he figured Katy is sharing, too….

Not entirely sure that SHE is buying into that idea…

Are you just going to let him lick the plate with the bisque on it – that I did NOT want, but also do not want him to have?????

Nobody can tell me they’re not just like siblings of the two-legged variety!

He’s TOUCHING MEEE!!

  1. Great card and thanks for the “how to”. Finn and Katy, at it again! Love the story line.

  2. Such a pretty card! The layering is perfect, love the colors too! Yep, just like all siblings…they only want the stuff that the other one has (or has swiped). 😉

  3. Michelle Schubring

This is such a great technique! And…a nice assortment of sentiments in the stamp set.

    • stampsnlingers

It really is an amazing sentiment set! Thanks so much, Michelle! 🙂

  4. Lovely card. It is a bit busy for my taste, but I like that technique. Great sentiments too. As for the sibling thing…Yep, no matter how many legs, they love to irritate one another. But don’t let anyone else do that! Those photos show perfectly what is going down!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Julie! And yes – they’re not shy about letting us know what’s going on! 🙂
