Stampin’ Up! Poinsettia Petals Thanks for a Wonderful Season

Well – good morning – and happy Monday!  It’s a short work week, with T-day on Thursday.  Do y’all have Friday off, too?  I hope so.  That might be the day you put up your tree, right?

Finny got some really good news yesterday.  Sonya is coming back soon!!  Next week – I’ll have a Sonya-clean house again – not a Mary/Wayne-clean.  These are TOTALLY different “cleans”.  Finny loves Miss Sonya, too (albeit for different reasons!) – and he’s super excited that she’s coming back!!  To be clear – his excitement doesn’t even come close to mine!! 😉

My card today took a step back to the gorgeous Poinsettia Petals bundle and coordinating Poinsettia Place DSP!  I made a cross-season card with it – sort of Thanksgiving – sort of Christmas – ALL pretty!  Take a look-see:

I played with two challenges on this one.  The first is the Festive Friday challenge – I got twine/leaves/wood/cranberry in!

And I also took inspiration from this week’s Hand Stamped Sentiment photo challenge.

I started with the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder.  Using my Crumb Cake ink pad, I swiped it all across the embossing side of the folder then placed a piece of Crumb Cake card stock inside and ran it thru the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.

Then I matted the panel on a piece of Merry Merlot for the card front.

Next, I matted two pieces of Poinsettia Place DSP on Merry Merlot and then adhered them to the card front at a jaunty angle.

On a piece of Very Vanilla, I stamped a sentiment from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set in Soft Suede then cut it out with a Tasteful Labels die.  I adhered the label to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I used the Poinsettia Dies to cut out one of the poinsettia flowers printed on the Poinsettia Place DSP.  I also fussy cut another inside-petals – and popped that over the die cut flower with some Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I also cut some Mossy Meadow holly leaves and a few berries from Merry Merlot.  These are all adhered to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I tied a loose figure-8 bow with some Linen Thread and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  Then I popped the poinsettia over top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added some Gold Glitter Enamel Dots – and the card front was done!

On the inside, on a Very Vanilla panel, I stamped the poinsettia from Poinsettia Petals in stamped-off-once Soft Suede.  Then I added some berries in stamped-off-once Merry Merlot.  I used a Blender Pen to pull some of the Merry Merlot ink into the berries – and my Light So Saffron Stampin’ Blend to color the flower and flower centers.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Merry Merlot mat and into my Soft Suede card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got the stamped-off-once flower and berries on the front…

…and more of the Poinsettia Place DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  It’s hard for me to find a more-favorite bundle in the Aug-Dec 2020 Mini Catalog than the Poinsettia Petals and Poinsettia Dies!  Especially when you add in some of the Poinsettia Place DSP.

And…a Pinewood Planks 3D embossed panel just brings it home!  I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Our local Puppy Tubs has had to temporarily shut down the “tubs” part of their facility – thank you, COVID….

So – we went to Tractor Supply to THEIR self-bathing spot.

That was kind of a bait-and-switch situation for the fur-bucket.

On the one hand he loves TSC. On the other…bath! 😳😳😳

I couldn’t get a shot during the bath itself cuz I was elbow deep in suds and dog hair.

But the aftermath – the BLOW DRYER! – I got!

Dad!!  I get Mom’s obsession with me being clean but….YOU TOO!?!?

We got MOST of the eau-de-dead-thing off but…there’s still a whiff here and there… 🙁

  1. Such a pretty card! Love the layered designer paper under that beautiful poinsettia! Poor Finn…thought that he was going for a fun visit and he got a bath instead. It’s a rough life for a stinky dog. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – there’s consequences to your actions, buddy! I suspect he didn’t make the connection, sadly. 🙂 Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  2. VERY pretty, indeed! Perhaps I will give this a try and attempt to channel you 🙂 There’s probably some eau-de-dead in cracks and crevices you might not know he has. That has to be quite a process bathing all that fur.
