Stampin’ Up! Camouflage In The Pines, Mate for The Paper Players

Hey y’all – it’s Sunday, which means I’ve got another fun challenge for you from the Paper Players – our Jaydee gave us a theme to work with this week!  🙂 It’s a good one – and one that I know will give your creative mojo a bump!  So I hope you’ll come and play along with us!

I pulled out a few sets for this one – starting with the wonderful In The Pines bundle.  Then I added a little Camouflage, some Many Mates and Old World Paper embossing (can you guess our theme?).  Take a look-see:

And…here’s our Paper Players Tic challenge this week – had you guessed right?? I do hope you’ll come and play along with us!

I used the Global Design Project CASE The Designer challenge for this one!

And the color palette is from this week’s Color Throwdown.

I started with a piece of Crumb Cake card stock and, using my Stamparatus, stamped the Camouflage image in Crumb Cake Ink.  Then I embossed the panel in the Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder.  I think it makes it look like military (or hunting!) camo, don’t you??  I matted the panel on Night of Navy to make the card front.

Using Stampin’ Seal Adhesive, I adhered a length of Night of Navy 1/2″ Frayed Grosgrain Ribbon (part of the amaze-balls Boho Indigo Product Medley!).

On another piece of Crumb Cake, I stamped some In The Pines trees in Mossy Meadow and cut them with their matching dies in the Pine Woods DIe set.  While I was at my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, I went ahead and cut some Mossy Meadow trees, too.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere three of the trees – then added a Gold Hoop Embellishment with a Glue Dot.

On a piece of Merry Merlot, I stamped a Many Mates sentiment in Versamark and sprinkled it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, then heat set it with my Heat Tool.  When it was cool, I punched it with the Tailored Tag punch – and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added the final tree with Liquid Glue and a few Dimensionals.

A single Gilded Gem on the sentiment finished off the card front!

On the inside, I stamped a second Many Mates sentiment in Versamark on a Crumb Cake panel and heat embossed it in White.  In the corner, I added the trees outline image in Soft Suede and the fill in Mossy Meadow.  I added a few Gilded Gems – cuz…I could! 😉

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Night of Navy mat and into my Merry Merlot card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more In the Pines trees on the front…

…and a little In Good Taste DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Masculine.  Check!  Birthday.  Check!  Thanks to the In The Pines bundle, with an assist from the Camouflage background set and the wonderful Many Mates sentiment set – it was easy peasy!  I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

So.  You’ve seen a similar picture of Finn standing at the door with a water bottle.

THIS one is amusing because neither Wayne nor I GAVE him a water bottle!

He was standing at the top the road hill – and when he looked back at us – there was a bottle in his mouth.

We looked at each other and just shrugged.  It had been a couple of days since we’d given him a bottle to carry and so…he just found one and took it upon himself to carry it to the house for us.

Whether we wanted it or not! 😂😂

A guy needs to have a job, Mom!

  1. Definitely militarious (I can make up words too…lol) and the gold hoop gives it a spotlight technique look. Love it! Finn has quite the personality.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Karen – love that word you made up! 😉 And yes. Yes he really does!! 🙂

  2. That is beautiful (in a manly sort-of way!) Mary! Love the layering and the stamped/embossed background is perfect! And Finn gets a treat and lots of praise for carrying a water bottle to the house…so I’m guessing he’s got a stash of them stored somewhere so that he’ll always have one handy to carry around. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – I think you might be right. I’ll have to watch him to see if I can find his hidey-hole! Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂

  3. Susan K

What a wonderful masculine card! I love your combination of camo with the trees.
My first thought re Finn’s water bottle was he was cleaning up litter from near the road but guess you’re too far from the road for that—though i think he’d be a helpful citizen like that.

    • stampsnlingers

He would! Just trying to do his part! 😉 Thanks so much, Susan! 🙂

  4. Great Guy card! Of course, there are gals who like camo too, so, could be a gal card. I really like that embossing over the camo stamp. Love the trees! Of course a guy has to have a job, Mom! He looks quite serious about it too.

    • stampsnlingers

He does – and he IS! He takes it all very seriously! Thanks, Julie – glad that you like the card! 🙂

  5. I almost used the Camouflage stamp on my PP card this week, but changed my mind at the last minute! I love how it looks with those trees…perfect masculine card! The embossed sentiment stands out nicely against that blue ribbon….which is beautiful!

    • stampsnlingers

First time inking it for me – and I love it! Thanks much, LeAnne! 🙂

  6. Mary, this is fabulous! I love all the layers and the embossing! The color combo and the pine trees make for a great masculine card! Have a great week!

  7. Ann Wilcox Schach

Wow, Mary! This is a stunning masculine card. I LOVE this camouflage background. Perfection!

  8. LOve love this! What awesome textures!

  9. Truly, the camo background and group of trees seem just perfect together and especially for a guy card (although my daughter, who is a hunter, fisher of salmon and total outdoors woman would love this too!). Love the touches of blue and purple-red to brighten it all up. Fabulous card for the challenge, Mary!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Stef! Sounds like she WOULD like it, for sure! 🙂

  10. Great masculine card, love your forest scene!

  11. Joanne James

What a great combination of sets Mary – love the camouflage background, I would never have thought to use it in this way. The addition of the red and navy works well too. Great masculine card!

  12. Wowza, Mary! I love the rich color combo and the camo background is perfect with the forest foliage. Such a wonderful masculine card!
