Stampin’ Up! Heartwarming Hugs Tree Angle Sneak Peek

Happy happy HAWWWWMP day!!  And happy can-you-even-believe-it’s-practically Christmas day??

Yeah.  That’s not a real thing but…serious.  Can you believe the year is half over?  I mean – 2020 can just go ahead and get gone, but…wow.  It’s flying!

Now – I mentioned Christmas cuz I’m playing with a Christmas theme today with my card.  There’s a bundle in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog called The Right Triangle – and I bought it specifically so I’d have the Stitched Triangles Dies that are part of the bundle.  I NEEDED those cuz of the Tree Angle stamp set in the Aug – Dec 2020 Mini Catalog.  That one really caught my eye – although it’s kind of a flyover set and one you may have thumbed right by!  I combined it with some homey-cozy paper from the Heartwarming Hugs DSP.  Take a look-see:

I am playing with the As You See It Challenge this week.

I started this card by matting a piece of the Heartwarming Hugs DSP on Mossy Meadow for the card front.

Next up, I embossed a piece of Real Red card stock in the Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder, matted it on Mossy Meadow and then adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Whisper White, I stamped two smaller Tree Angle trees in Pear Pizzazz and a larger one in Mossy Meadow.  Then I cut them with the coordinating dies in the Stitched Triangles Die set.

I stamped three tree trunks in Early Espresso on Whisper White, fussy cut them and adhered them to the bottom of the trees with little dabs of Liquid Glue.’

I adhered the two smaller trees to the embossed panel with Liquid Glue.  Then I popped the larger tree on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added a Star Designer Element to each tree.

On a strip of Whisper White, I stamped a sentiment from Tree Angle in Real Red.  Then I punched one end in the Banners Pick A Punch.  I punched the same end in a Mossy Meadow strip and adhered the two pieces together with Liquid Glue.  I stamped the little star from Tree Angle in Bumble Bee ink.

I tied a bow from some 3/16″ Braided Linen Trim and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  Then I popped the layered sentiment on with Dimensionals – a double stack on each end and a single in the middle (to compensate for the bow and the center popped-up tree).  And that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I stamped a second Tree Angle sentiment in Real Red on a Whisper White panel.  Over it, in Pear Pizzazz ink, I stamped the smaller tree that I’d used on the front.  I added an Early Espresso trunk and a Star Designer Element.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Mossy Meadow mat and into my Crumb Cake card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Pear Pizzazz/Early Espresso/Bumble Bee tree on the front…

…and more Heartwarming Hugs DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Yep – I was right to pick up this Tree Angle stamp set – I really like how the stylized trees work…

…especially with a more traditional paper like the Heartwarming Hugs, don’t you?

And – the Stitched Triangle Dies come bundled with The Right Angle stamp set in the annual catalog. You can get them right now!

I hope you like!

  1. Lovely card and I do like those dies.

    • stampsnlingers

      I know – they’re cool! Thanks, Karen! 🙂

  2. That’s awesome Mary! Love this design and those trees are fantastic! I think that I see a little drool on Finn’s face…guessing that watermelon was pretty tasty. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

It was! Very sweet! Ponies thought so, too! Thanks, Amy- I really like this set!

  3. Way cool card. The triangles dies are on my ‘do I really want these?’ list. However, your card makes a case for them.
A watermelon eating dog?? Who ever heard of such a critter! 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Oh yes – he LOVES watermelon! So refreshing in the summer, don’t you know?!? Thanks, Julie!! 🙂

  4. Joanne James

This is lovely Mary – those stylised trees are fabulous and I love the loop of thread behind the sentiment. So many great details – however long did it take? I’m guessing you were quite close to the wire!! Thanks for playing along with our 10 minute speed challenge over at As You See It this week!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Joanne – that’s really just a bow adhered with a Glue Dot! But – I confess I didn’t even register the time factor – so I totally didn’t keep time. It might have been under 10 minutes for just the front of the card, but I am really not sure. I totally understand if my card is disqualified! I am sorry for mis-reading the challenge! 🙁

  5. janclothier

This is a real standout card, Mary! I love it! It might even me be pushing me to move this set from ‘maybe’ to ‘yes’. However, for the speed challenge, we need to know the time it took to make this card. I might have just missed seeing it, so sorry if that’s the case. Thanks for joining in our speed stamping challenge at As You See It as your card is a joy!

Hey Jan – thanks for the nice comment. 🙂 I confess I didn’t even register the time factor – so I totally didn’t keep time. It might have been under 10 minutes for just the front of the card, but I am really not sure. I totally understand if my card is disqualified! I am sorry for mis-reading the challenge! 🙁

Great card Mary!! Really love those trees. And you’re right, I blew right by this in the catalog. Didn’t notice it at all.
I have to laugh, I stopped at the grocery store this afternoon and made a beeline for watermelon. Didn’t realize at the time that you had planted it in my head (I saw this post this morning). lol
    So refreshing.

    • stampsnlingers

      Well – I hope it was tasty – and…you’re welcome! 🙂

This is such a warm and comfy card, Mary, and you’re right, I skipped right over this set and now I’m seeing some amazing creations, such as your own created from it! Hmmm! Just one thing! Our challenge is a speed stamping challenge with a 10 minute limit. Can you let us know how fast you made your card? Hope you timed it, because it’s so lovely! Thanks for getting your adrenaline pumping with us at As You See It Challenges!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks very much for the kind words. I confess I didn’t even register the time factor – so I totally didn’t keep time. It might have been under 10 minutes for just the front of the card, but I am really not sure. I totally understand if my card is disqualified! I am sorry for mis-reading the challenge! 🙁
