Stampin’ Up! Queen Anne’s Lace for the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all – welcome to another edition of Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Team blog hop!  Each month we make projects centered around a theme – and this month our theme is Celebrate Summer!  We can interpret that any way we want – so…be sure to check and see everyone’s projects – we’ve got a bunch of talented ladies hopping with us this month!

Summer and flowers really go together for me!  Well – actually, summer and chile peppers and tomatoes, but…flowers are so much prettier on a card, am I right?!  So…I used a new-to-me set called Queen Anne’s Lace – and I put it atop some bright and summery Artistry Blooms DSP!  Take a look-see:

Pretty, isn’t it?  Also – here’s a factoid (yes – you get a card AND a lesson!) – Queen Anne’s lace is also known as wild carrot – and the root is edible!  I know!  You’re mystified and amazed.  But…it looks a lot like poison hemlock – which is NOT edible – so…you know.  Be sure ya know what yer eatin’!

You’re welcome. 😉

My color palette is from the bright and beautiful Sunday Stamps color challenge.

I started by embossing a piece of Daffodil Delight in one of the Meadow Moments Embossing Folders – had to run thru twice to emboss the entire panel because this is a Mini folder!  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the front of my Daffodil Delight card base.

On a piece of Granny Apple Green and Daffodil Delight paper from the Artistry Blooms DSP, I stamped the Queen Anne’s lace image twice in Garden Green. When it was good and dry, I stamped the flower-fill image in Versamark – twice – sprinkled it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it with the high setting on my Heat Tool.

When it was cool, I double matted it on Bermuda Bay and Granny Apple Green card stock.

I tied a little bow from the Daffodil Delight 1/4″ Ruched Ribbon and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

I stamped the Queen Anne’s Lace sentiment in Bermuda Bay on Whisper White and cut it with a Stitched So Sweetly rectangle die.  Then I put two double-stacks of Stampin’ Dimensionals under the right side of the die cut – and a dab of Liquid Glue on top of the bow – and popped the sentiment onto the card front.

A few clear Elegant Faceted Gems finished off the card front!

On the inside, I stamped the Queen Anne’s lace image twice in Garden Green across the bottom of a Whisper White panel.  Then I added a few more clear Elegant Faceted Gems.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to Bermuda Bay and Granny Apple Green mats and into the Daffodil Delight card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Queen Anne’s lace in Garden Green on the front…

…and more of the Artistry Blooms DSP – in the same color scheme, but a slightly different design – on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love Queen Anne’s Lace (even more now that I know I COULD eat it if I needed to!) and I love it just as much in card-form!  The stamp set has some really wonderful sentiments…

…and I really like the gorgeous and colorful Artistry Blooms DSP!  So many designs and colors to choose from!

I hope you like – and will pick these up to make your own summer garden on a card! 😉

  1. Oh my goodness Mary, that is stunning!! I love the embossed flowers on the pretty designer paper background! 🙂

  2. So beautiful! I love how your embossed flowers just pop on the green ombre DSP! 😊

  3. This is gorgeous, inside and out!

  4. Susan K

Queen Anne’s Lace is one of my favorite summer wildflowers. I used to put them in food coloring water and watch them turn colors, but I love your white ones. Simply gorgeous.
Thanks for the factoid. I will enjoy the tops and not try the roots…no use worrying if I have the wrong plant!

Jeez – I wish I’d known the food coloring thing – I wanted to make them pink! LOL! Thanks, Susan! 🙂 Also? Google said that the Queen Anne’s Lace root has little hairs on it – like a carrot – and smells like a carrot. The Hemlock is smooth and smells bad. So…sounds pretty easy to tell the difference! 😉

Such a beautiful card, Mary! The white embossing really adds to the card.

  6. Heather Heroldt

Wow, Mary, SO elegant! Beautiful use of this set and papers, so fresh and lovely! Thanks so much for playing at Sunday Stamps!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks very much, Heather! Appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  7. Well, Mary, you must be a mind reader! I love Queen Anne’s Lace. Actually, so much so that I used it in my wedding flowers, exactly ?? years ago today. Can’t tell you how many, then you would think I am OLD. I don’t have this stamp set yet but you know it is at the top of my list. I love the embossing folder too, thank you VERY much for that. Your card is beautiful, but then all (well almost all) your cards are really outstanding. I will probalby CASE this one, even though I am not too much into bright colors. It’s OK on this one. 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Well happy ????Anniversary! I’m betting it was a gorgeous bouquet! Thanks very much for the kind words, Julie – and CASE away!! 🙂

  8. Another absolutely stunning card Mary 🙂 I’m def re-thinking this set now.
