Stampin’ Up! Peonies and Dandelions for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hey y’all – it’s Thursday, so it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!!  Today’s a sketch challenge – and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table!  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

I circled back to an early 2020-2021 Annual Catalog favorite – the Prized Peony Bundle and coordinating Peony Garden DSP for today’s card.  To that, I added the subtle wonderfulness of the Dandelion 3D Embossing Folder.  I decided that it would be perfect as a sympathy card – and, since it’s always good to have one of those in hand…that’s what I made! Take a look-see:

And…here’s our sketch!

The theme of the card fits perfectly over at the Watercooler Wednesday challenge this week!

I started with some quiet, Gray Granite paper from the Peony Garden DSP that I matted on Petal Pink for the card front.

Next, I took a piece of Petal Pink card stock and cut three sides of it with the long edgelit die in the Peony Die set.  Then I embossed the panel in the Dandelion 3D Embossing Folder.  I VERY lightly Sponge Daubered some Petal Pink on the flowers and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I stamped my sentiment – from Prized Peony – in Gray Granite on Whisper White and cut it with a label die from the Stitched So Sweetly die set.  Then I popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To create the peony flower – I cut the four pieces needed using the Peony Dies – from Vellum card stock.  I colored each piece with my Dark Petal Pink Stampin’ Blend Marker.  I also used a Sponge Dauber to color the bottom of each piece with Petal Pink ink (for depth).  I curled the four pieces with my Bone Folder and then assembled the flower – using a Glue Dot near the bottom between each layer.

If you want to see how to create these gorgeous flowers, I’ve done a video on how to assemble them – you can check it out right here!

I created a flower center by cutting the appropriate die from Vellum and coloring it with my Dark Mango Melody Stampin’ Blend.  I stuck it into the middle of the flower with a tiny dab of Liquid Glue.

For the leaves – I cut all of the leaf dies from Vellum.  Then, the solid leaves I embossed in the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.  I colored the solid leaves with my Light Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blend and the smaller (detail pieces) with the Dark Mossy Meadow Blend.  I adhered the pieces together with little dabs of Liquid Glue and curled them with the Bone Folder.

I adhered the leaves to the card front – then added the flower over top with a few Glue Dots.

I adhered a small Gray Granite 1/4″ Shimmer Ribbon bow with a Glue Dot, popped on a few Champagne Rhinestone Jewels – and the card front was done.

On the inside, I added a second sentiment from Prized Peony in Gray Granite on a Whisper White panel.  Across the bottom, I stamped the small flower image in Gray Granite and then used my Light Petal Pink Blend to color JUST the shading marks on the flowers.  A single Champagne Rhinestone finished it up.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Petal Pink mat and into my Gray Granite card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more of the Gray Granite and Petal Pink Prized Peony flowers across the bottom…

…and a little more of the Peony Garden DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Wow – what an amazing and awesome and wunnermus creation this Prized Peony Bundle is, don’t you think?!?  I mean…how clever to come up with a way to create a peony with just four small pieces of card stock.  Stampin’ Up! artists!  Am I right?!?

And the subtle elegance of the Peony Garden DSP is undeniable!

I hope you like – and have added this one to your stash of goodies!
