Stampin’ Up! Pampered Pets in Grace’s Garden

Well.  Here we are. Friday!  And – for some of you – today’s a holiday!  Cuz tomorrow we celebrate the birth of our nation!  I hope everyone has some plans – we’re going to TRY to go to our friend’s on Sunday for some social-distanced socializing!  Fingers crossed we get our taxes done by Sunday so we can make that happen!  I feel the need for a hamburger on the grill with friends!  And deviled eggs!  Yum!  And I’ve been collecting some dessert recipes that I’m itching to make when I have more-than-one-mouth to feed!

Speaking of taxes (look back a few sentences – I DID mention taxes!) – I am SO sorry that I wasn’t able to get together with y’all yesterday!  But – the COVID-push-back is almost over and…yep.  The taxman cometh!  So…gots to do what we gots to do!

My friend Jan – also one of the newest members of my Critters-N-Creatin’ Krew team! – came over on Wednesday and we made the card that I was going to make for you yesterday.  In fact, she was going to come over and sit in!  Maybe next week!

The card is a pet-sympathy card – using the Grace’s Garden stamp set and coordinating Garden Gateway Dies, plus the Pampered Pets bundle and a perfect sentiment from Peaceful Moments.  Take a look-see:

This was really a collaboration – we both had some ideas about what the card should look like – and I think we made our vision happen!

We started with a piece of Crumb Cake that we stamped with the Peaceful Moments sentiment in Tuxedo Black.  Then we embossed it in the Brick 3D Embssing Folder and matted it on Basic Black for the card front.

Then…we started stamping and die-cutting and coloring flowers!  Yes – it’s a LOT quicker to create a gorgeous cottage garden with paper and ink than actually planting flowers!!  🙂

We stamped all the Grace’s Garden images in Tuxedo Black and cut them out with their matching dies in the Garden Gateway Die set.  We also cut the wunnermus gate itself from Whisper White!

I set Jan to dimensionalizing the back of the archway – cutting Mini Dimensionals in half to fit.  We colored the flowers with Stampin’ Blends and Stampin’ Write Markers in Highland Heather, Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight and Rococo Rose.

Then?  We built the garden!  We added flowers with Liquid Glue and Dimensionals.  We got almost everything laid on and then…I looked at her and said…do you think it maybe needs…a bow?!? 😉

She said – I WAS JUST THINKING THAT!

And that was the day that Jan was introduced to the transformative effect of….the double-loop Linen Thread bow! 😉

We adhered it with a Glue Dot – then popped on the last couple of flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  A single Rhinestone Basic Jewel finished off the card front.

On the inside, we masked off part of the sentiment in Pampered Pets and stamped just “Always in Your Heart” in Tuxedo Black on a Whisper White panel.  Then – work with me here – we cut the fuzzy dog from Vellum, using the die in the Pets Die set.  See?  He’s there but NOT there but always in their hearts. 🙂

We adhered him with a single Glue Dot – then we popped a heart over the Glue Dot.  I cut the heart with the Dog Punch Punch and Jan colored it with the Light Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blend (her friend had a shaggy boy dog) and then we swiped Clear Wink of Stella over that.

I used Stampin’ Seal to adhere the panel to a Basic Black mat and into my Crumb Cake card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

The Whisper White Medium Envelope got the Grace’s Garden flowers on the front…

…and also on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  This card – made as a pet sympathy card – could easily be a not-pet sympathy card, right?  Grace’s Garden and the matching Garden Gateway Dies, gives a quaint, cottage-y feel to any card.

And is perfect with the sentiment from Peaceful Moments.

If you stopped there…you’d have a very nice sympathy card for anyone.  Add in the Pampered Pets bundle and…boom.  Pet sympathy card!!

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Tax day.

No – not Tax Day – like…not due today.

Nope – yesterday was tax preparation day for us.

Quite possibly my least favorite day of the year.  Well – least favorite week.  It takes us a minute….

Serious – I’d rather go to the dentist.  At least they give me the “good stuff”! 😉

Katy helped.

Finn helped.

It’s possible – maybe – that their definition of “help” is different than mine… 🙂

  1. This, believe it or not, is one of my most favorite cards this month 🙂 It must have been so much fun creating it with Jan. I love how you did the pup and it’s always so sad to lose a fur baby. I’m sure it will bring the family a peaceful feeling. I haven’t used my Grace’s Garden set yet, but this makes me want to get it out and play. TFS.

LOL! On day 3 of the month! 😉 Thanks very much, Karen – yes. Sad it really is. And I hope it WILL help ease the pain for a bit. 🙂

  2. Oh my goodness, what a beautiful card! Love the colors and the brick background is perfect! Looks like everyone has a job to do on tax day…at least they could provide some moral support. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – it’s all paws on deck! Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂

  3. Faith Simpson

Grace’s Garden is one of my favs!! This is such a sweet card.
As for Katy and Finn…..they ‘help’ just by being there!! True?

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – quiet moral support. They’re very very good at that. Right until the cat is hungry. Or THINKS she’s hungry. Then quiet goes right out the window. Thanks, Faith! 🙂

  4. Sometimes help is best done by staying out of the way!
Beautiful card. Great collaboration. Have to do a couple sympathy cards and think this might be what I do. Thanks for sharing.

Yes – not wanting to sit in my lap IS a big help, really! Harder than HECK to type with a cat in the lap! Thanks so much, Julie – it will be a great sympathy card to have! 🙂
