Stampin’ Up! Sunflowers Do a World of Good for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hey y’all – it’s Thursday, so it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!!  Today’s a color challenge – and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table!  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

When I saw our colors I knew I was going to be making a sunflower – or two! – using the new Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set and bundled Sunflowers Dies.  And I also figured the World of Good DSP would have some goodness in it, too!  The Many Mates set lent the perfect sentiment.  Take a look-see:

Can you – possibly?!? – guess our colors?? 🙂

I pulled a layout idea from this week’s Sunday Stamps challenge!

And it fits perfectly with the Global Design Project‘s Theme challenge, too. 🙂

I started with a piece of Bumble Bee paper from the wunnermus World of Good DSP pack, that I matted on Old Olive for the card front.

Using a Stitched Rectangle Die – and running it half way thru my die cutting machine then moving the die and going back thru the machine the other direction (to create a longer die cut) – I cut a rectangle of Old Olive.  Then I stamped the piece of card stock with the two leaves images from Celebrate Sunflowers in Old Olive for a tone-on-tone look.

Finally – I embossed the panel in the new Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

On another piece of the same Bumble Bee paper from the World of Good DSP set, I used my Stamparatus to stamp both sunflower images in Early Espresso.  I cut the large flower with the die from the Sunflowers Dies – and fussy cut the small flower.   There IS a die for the smaller flower – but I trimmed off the leaves so…fussy cutting was the way to go!

On Old Olive, I stamped two large leaves and one of the small double-leaf images in Old Olive – then cut them with their matching dies.  I also cut the corresponding detailed leaves from Old Olive.

From Early Espresso – I cut the large detailed flower and two flower centers.

Using Liquid Glue just in the middle – I adhered the detailed flower to the large die cut.  I also adhered the detailed leaves to their solid leaf die cuts.

On yet another piece of the World of Good DSP, I used my Stamparatus to stamp a Many Mates sentiment in Early Espresso.  Then I cut it out with a Stitched Rectangle Die and adhered it to the card front with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I laid everything out – and started assembling!

I cut a smallish Stiched Shapes square from Brass Foil, embossed it in the Old World 3D Embossing Folder and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I adhered the large leaves to the card front with Liquid Glue – then added the large flower with more Liquid Glue.  I popped a flower center on this one with a Black Stampin’ Dimensional.

Using Liquid Glue – I adhered the small leaves to the back of the small flowers and the second flower center to the…center! 🤔

Then I used a Glue Dot to wind some gold trim from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack.  I added a bow tied from a piece of 1/4″ Bumble Bee Gingham Ribbon with another Glue Dot.

Finally – I added a couple of Black Stampin’ Dimensionals to the card front – and a Glue Dot to the middle of the gingham bow – and adhered the small flower.  Note: I left the covers on the dimensionals. I wanted their support – but did NOT want the flower to lay down that tightly.  Make sense?

To finish off – I got a little jiggy with the color challenge and added a Cinnamon Cider 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dot to the sentiment – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the small flower a few times in Early Espresso on a Very Vanilla panel.  And that was it!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to an Old Olive mat and into my Early Espresso card base, popped the card front on with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more Celebrate Sunflowers flowers on the front in Early Espresso…

And a little more World of Good DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This card has so many elements I love – the Celebrate Sunflowers, die cut with their matching Sunflowers Dies.  World of Good DSP – with it’s old world look.  A little Old World Paper 3D Embossing.  And a collage!  Score!  Of course, Many Mates slides in with the perfect sentiment for this custom-order card!  I hope you like – and that this is on your wish list.

Or…your Bought-it-watching-for-the-UPS-truck list! 😉

  9. Bonnie Russell

I love your card! The sunflower stamp and die set are on my wish list. I was wondering if this card would fit in an A2 envelope or did you need a larger one because of the bow and decorations? I didn’t know if you would recommend a padded envelope? It is such a beautiful card that I would hate to have it damaged in the mailing process. This is definitely a keepsake card.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks very much, Bonnie! It will fit into an A2 card – I’d recommend putting a piece of card stock or evem vellum over the front just to protect it! And it’ll take extra postage, too! 🙂 Have fun!

  10. Heidi Baks
