Stampin’ Up! Sentimental Sailing Home Fun Fold with Video Tutorial

Well – it’s Good Friday.  Literally.

Do you have a three-day weekend?  Maybe you have today “off” instead?   By which, of course, I mean…are/will you be wearing your “weekend pajamas” or your “go to work” pajamas??  I am SURE you’ll be wearing your DRESS pajamas on Easter Sunday, right??  I know I for sure will be! 😎

Since this is pretty much business-as-usual for us, I was able to do a live YouTube video yesterday.  If you were able to join me – I appreciate you spending some of your day with me!  If not, but you’d like to see the replay on YouTube…here ’tis!

I wanted another card to send as part of the Bee The Blessing Card Drive being sponsored by Stamp-N-Storage and I thought it would be good to make a couple with a more masculine feel.  So….the Come Sail Away suite called!  For the sample card – I used the DSP in Mossy Meadow colors – for the video…I did it again in Night of Navy.  Both are identical and use the Sailing Home, So Sentimental and Ornate Thanks stamp sets.  Take a look-see:

I love this modified gate-card with its belly-band, but I wanted it to be a little more traditional (and easier to display!).

So – I started with a Crumb Cake card base in my normal portrait tent-fold orientation.  The gate-fold becomes the matted card front.

I cut a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock at 5 1/4″ x 8″ and scored it along the long side at 2″ and 6″.  Then I marked each short end at 2 5/8″ and used my Paper Trimmer to cut the “gates” into points.

I cut two strips of Come Sail Away DSP, cut them both into points and adhered them to the gates with Liquid Glue.

On the inside, I adhered a second design of the Come Sail Away DSP to a Mossy Meadow mat and then inside the gate-fold with Liquid Glue.

I adhered the entire panel to the front of the Crumb Cake card base with Liquid Glue.

On a strip of Crumb Cake cardstock, I stamped the compass image from the Sailing Home stamp set multiple times in Crumb Cake ink.  Then I wrapped the strip around the card base and adhered the ends together with Liquid Glue.

The front sentiment, from So Sentimental, is stamped in Mossy Meadow on Whisper White and cut with the larger label die in the bundled Stitched So Sweetly Die set.  Over the sentiment, in Crumb Cake, I added the Sailing Home compass.  Then I adhered the label to the belly band with Liquid Glue.

I pulled off the belly band to work on the inside.  On a piece of Whisper White, I stamped a perfect sentiment from Sailing Home in Mossy Meadow.  I added a Crumb Cake anchor and cut it with the next-to-largest rectangle in the Stitched So Sweetly dies.  Then, I adhered it on the inside with Liquid Glue – ensuring it would be hidden by the belly-band.

I replaced the belly band and added a Sail Away Trinkets anchor with a Glue Dot.  On this Mossy Meadow card, I used a double-length of Line Thread to tie a simple bow and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  On the Night of Navy version, I used a single-length of Night of Navy/Sahara Sand Baker’s Twine.

Just a note – I would send this card with the belly band around the just the front of the card base/gate-fold (versus around the entire card).  That let’s the recipient see the card in its best “display mode”!  😉

On the inside of the card, I added a sentiment from Ornate Thanks in Mossy Meadow on a Whisper White panel.  In the corner, I added the anchor in Crumb Cake and the compass in stamped-off-once Crumb Cake.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Mossy Meadow mat and into the card base and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got the Sailing Home anchor and compass on the front…

…and more Come Sail Away DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  It’s easy to lose track of the super-cool goodies in the Annual Catalog, what with Sale-A-Bration and the Jan-Jun mini, isn’t it?  But…don’t!  The Come Sail Away Suite – anchored by the Sailing Home Bundle (see what I did there?!?) – is chock-full of wonderful products that are really awesome for creating masculine projects!  The Come Sail Away DSP let me quickly make two cards – using the same stamp sets and designs…

So Sentimental with the WUNNERMUS Stitched So Sweetly Dies, melds in nicely – and, of course, there aren’t enough words for me to express how much I love the Ornate Thanks set and all the perfect sentiments it contains!  I hope you like!
