Stampin’ Up! Hugs, Prayers and Love from Positive Thoughts!

Happy National Tortilla Chip Day!

Yep – that’s a real thing!

So…you’re duty bound to go your nearest Mexican food restaurant and eat chips and salsa.  Do it for your country! 😉

With that out of the way, and my public service complete for the day, let’s get on with a card, shall we?  I made a little collage for you (shocking, I know!) using the Positive Thoughts stamp set – and the coordinating Nature’s Thoughts Dies (part of the 2020 Coordination Product Release!).  Take a look-see:

The layout was inspired by this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.

On a piece of Crumb Cake card stock, using my Stamparatus, I stamped the Positive Thoughts sentiment in Mossy Meadow ink.  Then I cut it using the die from Stitched So Sweetly.

I placed a card-front sized piece of Crumb Cake into the Stamparatus and laid the sentiment label in place in the corner.  Then, I stamped the flower from Positive Thoughts in Terracotta Tile.  Then I picked up the label and inked and stamped the image a second time.  I laid the label back down, moved the stamp on the Stamparatus panel – and repeated the process a second time.

I did the same process all over again a couple more times – this time with the leaf image in Mossy Meadow.  I stamped that image twice in each spot without re-inking to help create some more depth.

Then I matted the panel on Terracotta Tile card stock.

I picked up the sentiment label and stamped the feather image in Terracotta Tile a few times without re-inking.

With the dies from the coordinating Nature’s Thoughts die set, I cut some Mossy Meadow and Vellum cardstock leaves.  Using Terracotta Tile cardstock, I spritzed a piece with some water with my Stampin’ Spritzer, then I cut two feathers.  I lightly sponged the edges of the feathers with Terracotta Tile using a Sponge Dauber and curled them slightly.

I laid out all the pieces and parts – including a Linen Thread double-loop bow – and took a picture.

I adhered all the elements – leaves and feathers – with Liquid Glue.  Then I popped the sentiment onto with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I adhered the bow with a Glue Dot….

…added a tiny Terracotta Tile butterfly (yes, cut with a die from the Nature’s Promise die set) and a few Terracotta Tile 2019-2021 In Color Faceted Dots.

And…the card front was done!

On the inside, I used the Stamparatus to add a second sentiment from Positive Thoughts in Mossy Meadow to a Crumb Cake panel.  Over that, I added the flower in stamped-off-once Terracotta Tile ink.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Terracotta Tile mat and into my Mossy Meadow card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got a few flowers on the front – in Terracotta Tile that I stamped three times without re-inking.

…and I added the leaf image in Mossy Meadow on the back of the envelope.

Et Voila!  Positive Thoughts is one of my very favorite stamp sets in the 2020 Jan – Jun Mini Catalog and I am SO happy to have the matching Nature’s Thoughts Dies!!

…especially that tiny butterfly!  So stinkin’ sweet!!  I hope you like – and will grab these two goodies up quick like the Cadbury Easter bunny! 🙂

Finn Fan Fix

This was our day here in GA.

See how wet they are? 🙁

Had to play THIS game way too many times.

Kind of dreary.  Bleh.

  1. Such a pretty card! Love the layering on your die cuts, perfect colors too! Well…hoping that you don’t have to get your canoe out to make it around your place today!!

    • stampsnlingers

I would for sure get a four-seater pedal boat – WAY more stable and room for the Finny! Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂

  2. A collage from Mary? Well, I do declare it’s another beauty along with your Mary bow. Your girls are beauties too. I’m sure what’s lurking under the towel is one handsome dude.

    • stampsnlingers

I know – it’s SOOO unlike me! 😉 LOL Thanks so much, Karen! 🙂

  3. Jari Francis

    Oh, so very pretty!

  4. Faith Simpson

    Hi Mary,
Your entire post speaks to me…..Mexican food and chips and salsa are probably my most favorite food….!
And this stamp set is one of my most favorite….probably THE most favorite in the spring catalog, and your card is beautiful. I love how you stamped on the sentiment label and card front, and this is another “Mary card” that I’ll copy!
As for your rain…..well, I don’t like drying the doggie over and over either……but I am really worried we are in another drought here in California. It will be in the 70’s all week (beautiful really)…..but we NEED more rain. They will tell us not to water very much again, and I hate that.

    • stampsnlingers

I am REALLY sorry that you’re headed into more drought – which means another fire season. 🙁 Wish we could share some of our rain with you!! Yes – this is one of my favorite sets in the catalog. And…also yes. Sitting and eating chips and salsa…very high on my list of things I love to do! 🙂 Thanks very much, Faith!

  5. Lin Hense

    Love the colors and layout.

  6. Susan K

Positive Thoughts is one of my faves too and this is one of my favorite cards with it. I love how you stamped on the sentiment panel and all the layering. Good use of the feathers–I never know what to do with them! Awesome card.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks very much – it’s one of my favorites, too, Susan! 🙂

  7. Bernice Pega

Beautiful card. Thank you for sharing.

  8. WHA? A collage from Mary?? GOR-JUS! Love, love love it! You inspire me, Kiddo!

    • stampsnlingers

I know! Shocker of the year, right?!? Thanks very much, Julie! 🙂

  9. Kathy L

I love your nature designs! Don’t let the teasing about your collages stop you (I know it’s just in fun!), but they are my favorite cards you create. Where else would I get such great ideas to CASE? 😊😊

    • stampsnlingers

I couldn’t stop doing collages if I tried, Kathy! I sure do appreciate the kind words!! Thank you so much! 🙂
