Stampin’ Up! On To Adventure – For Me!

Morning, you guys!  Happy happy HAWWWMP Day!!

It’s kind of a day of new beginnings here in Atlanta for us.  My card today will give you a hint, I think!

I decided it was a great time to ink up a new stamp set called…On To Adventure.  Take a look-see:

I played along with The Paper Players this week for this one.

I started with some Night of Navy paper from the Neutrals 6″ x 6″ DSP and matted it on Merry Merlot for the card front.

On a piece of Whisper White, I stamped the cute golfer guy from the On To Adventure set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  While I had the stamp out, I also stamped it in Granny Apple Green on some Granny Apple Green paper from the Brights DSP.

I cut the guy out of the Whisper White using a Rectangle Stitched Die.  Then I used my Ivory, Light Mango Melody, Light Smoky Slate and Light Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends to color him.  I fussy cut the jacket from the Granny Apple Green image and used Liquid Glue to adhere it to the image.  Then I adhered the whole thing to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I stamped the On To Adventure sentiment in Merry Merlot on Whisper White and cut it with a smaller Rectangle Stitched Die.  That I popped onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done!

On the inside, I used my Stamparatus again to add a second On To Adventure sentiment in Merry Merlot to a Whisper White panel.  At the bottom, I added a second retiree in Tuxedo Black and used my Blends to color him!  Do you like his Granny Apple Green/Night of Navy/Mango Melody outfit? 😉  He’s also got cool shades – Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker for those!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Merry Merlot mat and into my Night of Navy card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got the camera-toting retiree on the front…

…and I added more Night of Navy DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I think this is just the cutest stamp set – everyone needs On To Adventure in their tool box!  Whether it’s for a friend or….for yourself!  I hope you like!

  1. Well, I thought the adventure was going to be about you. BUT then I saw it was a masculine card so I figured it was Wayne. Then I heard nothing more, scouring your post with a fine tooth comb. Thank you, Finn, for divulging the news! Woo hoo!!!! I’m so happy for you, you, you! When? Oh, and your card is great too 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

LOL! Glad you finally found where Finn had spilled the beans! 🙂 End of next week will be “the end”! Thanks very much, Karen! 🙂

  2. Yay, yay, yay!! Awesome news! Oh yeah, cute card too!! I am sure that Finn will be happy to have Mom around all of the time and I know that Mom will be happy not to have to pack up her entire craft room and live in a hotel for 2 months at a time too. 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

There are DEFINITELY things I love about living in a hotel – but…I’ll gladly give those up to NOT have to pack, load, ship, tote all my stuff here and there! Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂

  3. Beth Kist

Congratulations Mary! You are going to love it! I see that Finn has also given his approval!

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – I can go ahead, he said. 🙂 Thanks, Beth! 🙂

Oh my gosh!! CONGRATULATIONS! I am SO VERY HAPPY for you! You will love it❤️👍 Your card is super cute! When is your first golf lesson?

    • stampsnlingers

LOL! I think I’ll skip the golf – never quite understood the point…except mini-golf. THEN it’s obvious – get a hole in one after wending thru the windmill blades and over the waterfall!

  10. Robbie Miller

    Congratulations !!!
Wow have fun on your new adventure !

Thanks, Sandi! It was a long-time coming! See you in Sept? Oct? 🙂

  13. Jari Francis

Hey, congrats! I know you have waited for this glorious day! Well deserved, my friend. Super fun card, love the great coloring, too😀

    • stampsnlingers

I am surprisingly less excited than I figured. And way more emotional than I’d anticpated, too. It was a long run – and I’m going to miss a lot of it. Of course, I will also NOT miss a lot of it! LOL! Thanks, Jari! 🙂

  14. Gerri K

    Mary,
Congratulations!! Awesome news! I’ve been retired for 6 years now and it’s the best thing ever!! Enjoy!

  15. Barbara Riefner

Congratulations on your decision to retire. I know you will enjoy it. I don’t know how you did all you did. When is it effective?

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Barbara – I appreicate that! It’s effective 5 Aug (officially) – but I sign out next Friday and turn in all the electronics, so….that’ll be “it”! 🙂

  16. Congrats on your retirement Mary! Enjoy!! 🙂

  17. Carol Swedlund

Good for you! I highly recommend retirement! I’ve been retired for 5 years and 2 friends in our Monday night stamping group retired in just the last few months – it’s a lot of fun watching them start to relax and learn about this new chapter in life. I’m very happy for you! It will be so much better for you to always get to stamp in your house and not move your supplies cross country.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Carol! I’m looking forward to realizing that Sunday night is no different from Monday night! Or Friday night! And I am, indeed, not going to miss trucking all over the country with my “stuff”! 🙂

  18. Faith Simpson

Well, congratulations!! That is awesome…….nothing like it. When you took your last trip away for weeks and weeks, it seemed like an awful chore to me…..I supposed you must like it, but I would hate it. So…..I hope you do play golf!! and many other fun things…..I know Finn will be happy, happy!!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Faith – i was always good at “being gone”. But “leaving” was hard hard hard and getting more and more painful. So I’m glad to have that behind me! I do not golf – but have plenty of ideas to fill my time! Some of which feature Finn pretty prominently! 😉

  19. Sue Brunson

Congratulations Mary! How wonderful, now you won’t have to go on those ‘months long’ trips and Finn can have his Mom all to himself! Love the card, especially the colors, that so reminds me of a ‘retired’ person who’s going to live life to the fullest!

    • stampsnlingers

I know. Those trips held a love-hate spot for me. I enjoyed the tests and the “team” piece – but the travel had become really onerous! Looking forward to not having to worry about being gone! Finn is also pretty pleased! I thought those colors were perfect! 😉

  20. Carrie Purkis

    congratulations!!!!!

  21. Karen L

CONGRATULATIONS!! I am so happy for you. Now those “bleh” Mondays will take on a “new look”!! Enjoy & keep those cards & ideas a’comin!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Karen – I’m wondering how long it will take for my brain to “catch up” and not send the “crap – it’s SUNDAY night” messages!!? And – you know I will! 🙂

  22. Eunice Stoneman

Congratulations on your retirement! On to new adventures. Soon you will wonder how you ever managed to fit ‘work’ in to your life.

    • stampsnlingers

Right? I have so many plans for all my extra “free” time! Thanks, Eunice! 🙂

  23. Congratulations, Mary! You will love retirement and wonder how did I ever have time to work. I’m still on work time after all these years and it irritates me at times. I don’t care what time I go to bed that 6am wake up still comes around. You will be able to take a nap during the day if you wish. What a fun time ahead. You know how I value time, so make each moment count to the fullest. No more “I have to be up early better go to bed”. Enjoy!

    • stampsnlingers

Ha – I’ve been working from home for so long you’d think I’d have already quit getting up at dawn. Nope! Maybe in twenty years! Thanks so much, Shirley! 🙂

  24. jean maas

OH Mary, so happy for you. Congratulations! Everyone is saying Fin will be happy but what about poor Wayne? I think it is wonderful. Best wishes my friend!

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – Wayne may actually be happier when I travel a little! Abscence and all that! But, seriously – he’s not a fan of my traveling, so…yeah. He’s happy! Thank you so much, Jean! 🙂

  25. Susan Stetina

Congratulations Mary! So happy for you!

  26. Beverly A

Mary, you will absolutely love retirement. I’m sure you will have plenty to fill your days. Enjoy!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Beverly!! Looking forward to seeing what comes! 🙂

  27. Judi Burkhalter

What exciting news! Congratulations, Mary! I’m so happy for you! I’ve been retired for four years now and love it. I’m sure you will too! Everyday is Saturday!!! I’m super excited for Finn too!

    • stampsnlingers

I’ll be happy when everyday feels like Saturday – and I lose track of the ACTUAL day!! Thanks very much, Judi! 🙂

  28. Lorree Bosworth

Congrats! (I think you just didn’t want to chance having to travel back Ridgecrest because of the earthquakes! 🤣😂🤣). I’m retiring in 3 months and plan to escape this place myself.

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – you should get out of there, Lorree! I’m not sorry to not be going back, not gonna fib! Thanks! 🙂

  29. Kathy Fennell

Well congratulations my friend! It’s a mighty fine day when one can say “I’m retired”! Have fun and enjoy not having to look at Monday’s as “Blah Day’s” ! 🙂 I am sure that Finn and Wayne are going to very happy to have you home all the time and knowing that your not going to have to pack up and leave for weeks on end. Enjoy the rewards of all your hard work. Happy dance, happy dance!!!!! 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

I’ll miss travelling – and I also won’t. Yes – I’m wishy washy! Thanks so much, Kathy! 🙂

  30. Susan K

Hurray! Yippee! BiG CONGRATS! You’ll soon wonder how you ever had time to work! But, even after being retired 10 years (yikes–that makes me old!), I still take weekends off and think of the weekdays as workdays to get stuff done. Maybe you’ll have time to plan another retreat for us! Enjoy retirement, however you fill your time. The Finnster will love it too! Cute card for anyone and a great way to make your exciting announcement.

    • stampsnlingers

Another retreat would be fun – and we’ve talking about figuring out where and how to do it! Thank you so much, Susan! 🙂

  31. Oh. My. Goodness. I am speechless! I remember how hard it was for me to quit my job (notice, I did not say retire) as there were definitely things I knew I would miss. Other stuff, I was more than happy to put behind me. I am sure you will find the same. I love your card and especially how you kept us wondering until Finn spilled the beans. This is definitely a new chapter in your lives. Enjoy it to the fullest.

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – got a list in each of those columns! We’ll see how it goes! 🙂 Thanks, Julie! 🙂

  32. Congratulations Mary! Your card is cute – I love the paper-pieced plaid sweater, perfect for your cute golfer! Thanks for joining us over at The Paper Players this week!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks much, Joanne! Looking forward to the next chapter! Appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  33. Barb

Congrats, Mary! I have ‘just about’ made the same decision!! In fact, I may take this as a sign that I should follow. 😉 lol.
Love your card! This set is on my list to buy.

    • stampsnlingers

It might, indeed, be a sign! I hope you go for it, Barb! Thanks! 🙂

  34. Oh Mary, this is so FUN! It is perfect for any golfer. The paper pieced plaid sweater is fabulous!!So happy you joined us at The Paper Players this week! XX

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Claire! Appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  35. Faith Simpson

This reminds me that on April 1st, as a joke you posted you were quitting Stampin Up because your other job took too much time or some such excuse……..I hadn’t followed you long enough to catch your fine sense of humor and thought you were serious at first. My first thought was, well why don’t you just quit the OTHER job!!! Ha!! I’m glad you are!!

    • stampsnlingers

I DID do that, didn’t I?! Well – I think I decided on the best job to quit!! Thanks, Faith! 🙂

  36. Ann Wilcox Schach

First of all, Mary, congrats on your retirement! As one who spends her days with dogs, I know that both you and Finn are going to love it! Your card is awesome! Thank you so much for playing in my Clean and Simple Masculine challenge at The Paper Players this week, and congrats on being selected as A Cut Above!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Ann – I’m looking forward to exploring some new activities with him! Appreciate the kind words – and you taking the time to come by! 🙂
