Stampin’ Up! Healing Hugs Meets Nine Lives

Well.  Here we are.  A Monday that is not a holiday.  Ever notice those Holiday-Mondays are the exception?  And – ever notice that you’re not as bubbly on a non-Holiday-Monday as you are on a Holiday-Monday?

I don’t think I’d need a government grant to study that particular correlation, do you??

Anywho – it is what it is, heh?

My friend has a friend who is having some surgery this week, so my friend (the first friend in this not-so-well-constructed sentence) asked me for a get well card.  With a cat.  So…out came my Nine Lives stamp set and coordinating Cat Punch.  And Healing Hugs.  ALL of which are carrying over!  To the new catalog.  Which goes live TOMORROW at noon Mountain Time!  Whoo-Hooo!!  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one was – sort of loosely! – inspired by this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I started with some pretty Perennial Essence DSP that I embossed in the Tufted Dynamic TIEF, then matted on Petal Pink for the card front.  Then I used a different design, cutting it with a Rectangle Stitched Shapes die and adhering it with Liquid Glue.

I used some SNAIL to adhere a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon across the card front.

Next, I embossed a piece of Very Vanilla in the Tufted Dynamic TIEF, cut it with a Stitched Shapes Framelits circle and popped it on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the sentiment, I used my Stamparatus to stamp a Healing Hugs sentiment on a Petal Pink paper from the Perennial Essence DSP in Mossy Meadow.  Then I cut it with a small Rectangle Stitched die.

I used the Cat Punch to cut a cat shape from the same flowerdy paper that I’d used on the card front.  Then I adhered the cat shape to the sentiment and adhered it with Liquid Glue.  I added a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional under her head and the left end of the sentiment.

I tied a double-loop Billie-Bow from Linen Thread and adhered it with a Glue Dot. Then I tied a double-length simple bow from new Mossy Meadow Linen Thread (from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo) and stuck that over top with another Glue Dot.

I nestled a Petal Pink Rhinestone Gem under the bow – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment in Mossy Meadow on a Very Vanilla panel.  Over the top, I stamped the cat from Nine Lives in Petal Pink.  I made a quick mask by fussy cutting the same cat from a Sticky Note, and added the grasses from Healing Hugs in Mossy Meadow.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Petal Pink mat and into my Mossy Meadow card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

I repeated the Petal Pink cat and Mossy Meadow grasses on the front of my Very Vanilla Medium Envelope…

…and added one of my paper designs from Perennial Essence on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I am so happy that ALL of this – Healing Hugs, Nine Lives, the Cat Punch, and the Perennial Essence DSP – will be available for a whole year!  Or…a whole ‘NUTHER year – as the case may be!  The 2019-2020 Annual Catalog is just about 24 hours away (4 June 19 at 12pm Mountain Time!) – and it’s going to make you very happy!  I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Finn loves his toys.

And he loves playing with his toys.

And playing with us AND his toys.

Sometimes though – his “read” of a situation is little sketchy.

Case in point.

“Hey, Dad – I know you’re trying to eat lunch and everything, but I’m a little bored, so…how about a nice game of tug??”

Dad was a good sport, don’t you think?!

Great card, Mary! I like the way you combined multiple patterns of the DSP! Well done 👍 I’m sure it will brighten your friend’s friend’s day😀 Have a quick-like-a-bunny week😆

    • stampsnlingers

Hope so, Elisha – thanks so much! Hope yours goes speedy-quick, too!

  3. Pretty card! Love the designer paper, great layout too! Ewww…slobbery toys and lunch should not be together in any sentence. Ha! 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Finn doesn’t get that. Slobber and eat go hand in hand, don’t they?!? Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  4. Gerri K

    Mary,
Love this get well card! Perfect for a cat lover. Punching the cat shape out of that beautiful dsp was brilliant!!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Gerri – I hope it will fill the bill! 🙂

  5. Susan K

What a good combination for a cat lover…I have a couple of those around. That bow makes me smile. I should use them more.
Wayne’s a good daddy to play with Finn during lunch!
(Quick question–why fussy cut the cat for the masking? Would the punch not work for that?)

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Susan! The punch is going to make a mask bigger than the outline of the cat. Which would stop the grasses too far from her. Did that make sense? 🙂

  6. Dad is a really good sport! Love the kitty card. Great way to subtly use the cat punch. Your design is wonderful.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Julie – I like that cat in the DSP! 🙂
