Stampin’ Up! Bloom & Grow Sneak Peek Thank You Card

Good morning, y’all!  Hope your weekend is going well!  I’m busily getting ready to go to Huntsville next week – Tuesday thru Thursday, so…getting some cards ahead!

If you were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live video – I really appreciate you spending part of your weekend with me!  If not – and if’n’y’ont’to  (that’s Jeff Foxworthy-speak for “if you want to”) then here it is on YouTube!

I made this card using the new Bloom & Grow Bundle from the Stampin’ Up! 2019-2020 Annual Catalog!  I paired it up with some pretty new paper from the Woven Threads DSP.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I started with a piece of the Woven Threads DSP in Rococo Rose, Purple Posy and Seaside Spray and matted it on Sahara Sand for the card front.  Then I used some Liquid Glue and Glue Dots to add a length of new 1/2″ Scalloped Linen Ribbon in Pretty Peacock.

The sentiment, from Bloom & Grow, is stamped in Pretty Peacock on a second design of the DSP – it’s actually the back of the design on the card front! 🙂  I matted the sentiment on Sahara Sand and popped it over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the art, I stamped the big and beautiful floral from Bloom & Grow in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Whisper White and cut it out with the matching die in the Budding Blooms Dies.  I also stamped some leaves and berries in Pretty Peacock and Seaside Spray and cut them out as well.

I used my Blender Pen to pick up ink from the lids of my Seaside Spray, Pretty Peacock and Rococo Rose Ink Pads and colored all the flowers and leaves.  I brushed Clear Wink of Stella over the Rococo Rose flowers for a little shine.

Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the leaves to the sentiment panel and popped the large floral over the top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added 2019-2021 In Color Faceted Gems to the middles of the flowers – and one next to the sentiment – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a second sentiment from Bloom & Grow in Pretty Peacock on a Whisper White panel.  I also added a second floral image in Tuxedo Black.  On this one, I used my Clear Wink of Stella as a paintbrush to “watercolor” the image!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Sahara Sand mat and into my Rococo Rose card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another of the florals from Bloom & Grow on the front…

…and more of the Woven Threads DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  The images and sentiment in the Bloom & Grow bundle are BIG, folks!  Big and beautiful  – and they’ve all got matching dies in their bundled Budding Blooms Die Set!  How cool is that?  I’m also really falling in love with the Woven Threads DSP, aren’t you?  I hope you like – and hope you’re makng your shopping lists!

Finn Fan Fix

So – it’s gotten…warm…here these past few days.

Day before yesterday, Finn asked to go out and I let him.

I mean – I’m not a monster! 😉

About twenty minutes later – I look out the window and he’s laying in the grass looking at me.  So – since it was warm, I invited him back in.

And gave him a big hug.  Cuz…I love him.

And…wrapped my arms around 74 pounds of hairy, furry SOPPING WET dog.  BLEEEEEHHHH!!!

Apparently it’s swimming weather!

I dried him off best I could – but…he was still in early drip phase.  So – best I could was not so bueno.

Feeling like a monster, I decided to put him back out for a bit.  So I got one of his big chew bones and handed it to him on his way back out the door.  And went to sit down and go back to work.

One-point-three nano seconds later…

Mom?

Mom?  You in there?  I need to come in, Mom.  Cuz I’m a little too warm…

And then he dropped the bone.

After a minute, he went and got it.

Back to the pitiful puppy ploy.

And yes.  Of course I let him back in.

Soggy pantaloonies, bone-leaves and all.

Cuz I’m not a monster.

I’m a sucker for that face! 😉

  1. Really, you could quit your day job. I think avid card maker, comedienne, and writer would look good on your resume. What a wonderful way to spend an hour on Saturday night…better than a bubble bath. Enjoy Huntsville (as much as it is possible) and thank you for sharing your talent with all your followers. Remember when you answered each comment afterward? Impossible to do now…so happy to see the growth!

Awww – that is REALLY a sweet thing to say! Better than a BUBBLE BATH!?!? I like my baths a LOT, so…WOW! Thanks very much, Karen – have a great week! 🙂

  2. Such a pretty card! The colors are perfect, thanks for showing all of the coloring techniques in your video last night!

Hahaha…it was warm outside so he was a resourceful dog and cooled himself off before coming in. Wet dog for the win. 😉

Yes indeed – he’s a smart cookie! Thanks, Amy – glad you enjoyed the video! 🙂

  3. Beautiful card and such a pretty floral arrangement taking centre-stage! Thanks so much for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches.
