Stampin’ Up! Double-Time Painted Pinecone Season

Good Friday morning, y’all!  Hope your week has gone well.

If nothing else, you can at least say it’s gone!

And I’m pretty glad of it, too, cuz mine has been topsy-turvy.  My trip has moved (so we’ll be able to meet on Sunday – yeah!).  The downside is that it overlaps OnStage AND – as I realized yesterday! – my young friend’s graduation from Vet School.  I’m trying to figure out how to do it all, because missing EITHER just isn’t going to fly for me – so…keep your fingers crossed!

For today I made a fun little card using a technique and a stamp set that I really love!  It’s the Double-Time technique and the Painted Seasons stamp set (free during Sale-a-Bration!).  Take a look-see:

I played along with The Paper Players challenge with this one.

I started with two panels of Whisper White that I temporarily stuck together with a little dab of Liquid Glue. First, using a sentiment from the Humming Along stamp set, I stamped a sentiment in Early Espresso in the bottom corner of the smaller panel.

Then, with the two panels still adhered together, I stamped the wonderful pinecone image from the Painted Seasons stamp set in Crumb Cake and Early Espresso here and there across the two panels.

I carefully separated the panels and adhered each of them to a Mossy Meadow mat.  Then I popped the smaller panel onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I adhered a small True Gentleman Button at the base of a couple of pinecones with a Glue Dot.  Then I added a small bow tied from Linen Thread to the button with a second Glue Dot and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a few more Painted Seasons pine cones in Crumb Cake and Early Espresso to a Whisper White panel.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Mossy Meadow mat and then into my Early Espresso card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Painted Seasons pine cones on the front…

…and on the envelope flap. I used my Stamparatus and stamped with the envelope closed, then opened it up and stamped it again.

Et Voila!  I really really like this Painted Seasons stamp set – but I LOVE the pinecone image the bestest of all!  It is SO realistic!  Hey Stampin’ Up!….this one needs to be in the Annual Catalog!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Finn’s got toys.

A rather large stash of them, actually.

Almost an embarrassment of riches.

But – he’s a true democratic toy-picker-outer.

No toy feels unloved, although, like any parent, he has his favorites.

Do NOT try to tell me you don’t have favorite kids.

Puh-lease.

High on Finn’s list is….the reindeer.

Penguin is a solid favorite, too – for his very chewable flippers.  And he squeaks…

And finally, in his current rotation of best-loved toys…the tennisballtugrope…

Unlike ANY dog we’ve ever had – and I do use those absolutes with total confidence – he PLAYS!

With us.  Without us.  He doesn’t care.

He just likes to play with his toys.

  1. Stunning card! Love the clean design and the neutral colors are perfect. Poor Finn…so many toys, so little time. 😉

Keeping them all busy is a 24/7 kind of job. Which is hard for him since sleeping is a 22/7 thing for him, too!! 😉 Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  2. Barbara Riefner

What cute pics of Finn! I have a girl who loves her toys also. Although, as she is aging, it seems to be less and less, but there is always that wandering over to the toy bin to pick one out and play for a few minutes. I love those times, for it is then that I still see the puppy in her.

Hoping you can make it to OnStage. I will be there. My son lives close to Charlotte, so it is an easy trip for me from his house. I had been looking forward to meeting you. It would probably be a lot easier than it was in Orlando!! Whew! Never saw crowds like that at a meeting! It was great though. Stampin Up sure knows how to throw a party! Hopefully you can work it all out. Keep us posted!

Yes – watching them entertain themselves is surely entertaining for us, too! 🙂 I’m going to be at OnStage for sure. Or…as sure as I can be! Hope to meet you, too, Barbara – and yes, it WILL be less HUGE than Orlando was!! Still going to be busy and crowded and AWESOME!! 🙂

  3. Love your technique and the pine cone is the only reason I ordered the set! Finn is just so photogenic AND playful!

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – it’s my hands-down fave, too! Thanks, Karen – and yes – the camera loves the Finn-ster! 🙂

  4. Kate

I LIKE LIKE LIKE THIS CARD!!!!!!!!!!
Finn the discerner…or the picker of what is on top?
And…have I ever mentioned ‘timing is everything’?

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – it really is. And no – I’ve watched him root around in his toy spot to pick one particular one! Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  5. This is lovely! I can’t wait to get my hands on this set myself! The images are just so pretty! I can see this made into a nice Christmas card too! Thanks for playing with my Paper Players challenge this week!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks very much, LeAnne – I really hope this set makes it to the new Annual catalog! LOVE this pinecone! Appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  6. Debra Anderson

I just received my Painted Seasons set yesterday. Played a bit this morning and am loving the realistic images with so little effort on my part.
My Aussie mix is the same age as Finn and also loves his toys. How do you keep him from eating them? We have not been able to find anything yet that he couldn’t destroy, given enough time. I worry about his health and my wallet!

    • stampsnlingers

LOL! We’ve been lucky – he’s torn up a couple of things and, quite honestly, I figured the reindeer and penguin would be short-lived. But…he’s quite tender with them! He looooovvvesss them! Thanks much – and have fun with your new goodies! 🙂

  7. This is a lovely card Mary and showcases that wonderful distinktive pine cone perfectly. Thanks for joining us over at The Paper Players this week!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks very much, Joanne – appreciate the kind words! 🙂
