Stampin’ Up! Coffee Cafe, Cake and Chocolate Birthday!

Wow – is it just me or is time really kind of flying??  Is it really Friday again!?  Yikes!  Hope your week is going by as quickly as mine and that you’re all ready for a weekend!

I had a nice day for my birthday – didn’t have to go in to work, got some new books to read and a lovely mom-knitted sweater (from my mom!).  Thanks to all for the birthday wishes as I turned 25…

…Plus Next Day Air Shipping and Handling.

Keeping the birthday theme going, a friend of mine has one coming up.  She has a few loves in life – and three of them are in the title to this post.

Coffee.

Cake.

Chocolate.

Not necessarily in that order.

And – if one can combine the three into one – all the better!!

So – when the new Coffee Break Suite came out – and then there was also the More Than Chocolate stamp set – well…I knew something would come of them for her!  And so it has.  Take a look-see:

I definitely drew some inspiration from the Annual Catalog projects for the Coffee Break Suite, and then I sort of went from there.  Folks – never be afraid to get ideas from other stampers and the catalog!  Sharing/Copying is IN!!  Heck – we’ve even got a name for it!! CASE – Copy and Share Everything – or Copy And Selectively Edit.

I started with a piece of the Early Espresso paper in the Coffee Break DSP.

Next up, I stamped the coffee cup image from the Coffee Break stamp set in Early Espresso on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  I also stamped a lid in Garden Green.  Then I cut them both out with the handy matching dies in the Coffee Cups Framelits (I got these with a 10% discount by buying them as a bundle – and so can you!).  I set them aside for a minute.

My middle panel is a piece of Early Espresso card stock which I stamped all over with coffee beans from the Coffee Cafe stamp set in Early Espresso Ink.  Then it was time for Coffee….Cake…Chocolate.

One of the pieces of paper in the Coffee Break DSP has a bunch of coffee cups and coffee pots on it.  There’s also a die in the set that perfectly matches a couple of the cup images!  I used that and cut out two coffee cups from the paper.  And adhered them to the panel with Liquid Glue.

For the chocolate, I pulled out the new More Than Chocolate stamp set and stamped a few pieces of candy in Chocolate Chip ink (duh, Mary!) on some Whisper White card stock.

I snipped around my “box” of chocolates and adhered it to a slightly larger piece of Early Espresso card stock – like it was a box.  I colored in the white parts on the chocolates with my Powder Pink Stampin’ Write Marker and adhered that to the panel with Liquid Glue.

Now.  Cake.  Where to get some cake of the right size for the panel?

Hmmm…how’s about the Birthday Memories DSP!?  Yep!  Perfect.  I fussy cut a pretty cake from one of the designs in the stack, and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

Time to assemble the card front.

I wrapped a piece of Soft Sky 3/8″ Classic Weave Ribbon around the Early Espresso Coffee Break paper.  I stapled it in the middle with my Handheld Stapler and left the ends loose on the side of the panel. Then I wrapped a piece of Linen Thread around it, tied a bow and popped the card front onto a Pear Pizzazz mat with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Over that, I popped my decorated panel with more Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Then I cut my coffee cup in half and stamped just the word “Happiness” on the top in Pear Pizzazz, added some Liquid Glue to the back, and slipped it under my panel to adhere it.  I slid the bottom of the cup under the panel in the same way!  Mucho MUCHO Grande Cafe!!  Just about the right size cup to make my friend happy! 🙂

I popped my Garden Green lid on with a few Dimensionals.

Finally, I stamped the word “Is” in Garden Green on a scrap of Pear Pizzazz card stock and punched it out with my 1/2″ Circle Punch.  I adhered it to a Corrugated Elements heart and then onto the card front with Liquid Glue.  And that was it.  Lots of words, y’all – but all easy peasy stuff!

On the inside, I used the pretty Stylized Birthday a la carte stamp to add the sentiment in Pear Pizzazz in the middle of a Whisper White panel.  I stamped a few Early Espresso coffee beans around it.  Across the bottom is a piece of the Early Espresso paper from the Coffee Break DSP, matted on Pear Pizzazz.  And I cut out another coffee cup from the DSP, adhered it to another Corrugated Elements shape and then to the strip.

I SNAILd the panel to a Pear Pizzazz mat and into my Early Espresso card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Early Espresso Coffee Cafe beans on the front, plus a Corrugated Elements heart…

…and a piece of the Coffee Break DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I think she’ll be well-caffeinated when she gets this one, don’t you?  I love everything about this new Coffee Break Suite!  And the More Than Chocolate stamp set has so much potential for fun cards.  And – not a calorie in a card load.

See what I did there?  LOL!!

Hope you like!

  1. Your friend is going to love her card. Have I told you lately that I love your cards and your creativity? Nooooooo, I don’t want the week to go so fast! We have been able to spend 4 nights with our daughter and family so it’s been wonderful. I even got to cook for my son-in-love last night as he had a rough day. Our daughter doesn’t like to cook so our grandson and I filled in the gap. I’m hoping I can make a card in our hotel room the next 3 days but if I can’t, I’ll get my fix from you!

    • Thank you so much, Karen! I appreciate that. I know you’re having a great time with your daughter and her family – sorry the time is flying too quickly! 🙁

  2. Love that you personalized the card just for her! Cute design and great colors! 🙂

  3. Rosalie Fitzmaurice

Oh Mary that is such a great card, your creativeness never ceases to amaze me. HAPPY Birthday to you even though it is late, you are allowed to celebrate all week. Rosalie

Yummy card, Mary! I love the way you combined products to personalize your friends card! She will love it!! Have a GREAT weekend! Sorry I missed your 25th birthday – hope it was a happy one!!

    • Thanks, Elisha! I’ve been trying to keep the product count down on my cards – but…this one just needed all three things! 🙂 Appreciate the birthday wishes – and enjoy your weekend, too! 🙂

  5. Kate

    Perfect card!
O.K., the, if you are 25, I get to be 50. WooHoo!!! Oh wait…that would mean I’d have been at my desk
down-the-hill for an hour and a half already instead of sitting here with coffee and Clara and a new knitting project to start. Never mind; I pass.

  6. No matter what you do or say, Finn is going to take to the water. He looks like he’s enjoying himself.
By the way, I love your card. I have coffee and tea and chocolate chocoholics in my house. Perfect card for all three of them! It’s ugly when they go thru withdrawals! LOL! TFS!

    • I know – he’s hooked on water!! Thanks so much – sounds like you need these sets to make cards for your clan at home! 🙂

  7. Karren Olaveson

I must have missed your birthday, Mary. So Sorry. I love your cards and especially peeking in on Sunday night. I just lurk there and learn a ton. Thanks for all you have done for me. Hope your birthday was perfect. I am sure you miss little Finn. Take care of yourself.
    Best wishes,
    Karren

    • Thanks so much, Karren! I appreciate the well-wishes. And I’m glad you’re coming on on Sundays! Good to know you’re there!! Take care, my friend! 🙂
