Stampin’ Up! Thoughtful Branches Thanks for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop.  It’s sketch challenge week and I hope you’ll take a minute to browse all the projects brought to you by the ladies-who-hop!  I’m bettin’ you see a lot of cool ideas with plenty of inspiration for you!

First off, here’s the sketch we were all working with:

I decided to do another card with the Thoughtful Branches bundle – just to tempt any of you who have not added this one to your stash, and to give those of you who have gotten it another idea for how to use this great set!  I added a pretty piece of Serene Scenery DSP.  Take a look-see:

It’s a little hard to see in the photos, but there are three blue hydrangeas on the card front.  They’re layered with two on the bottom and the third popped over the top of them.

I inked up the tree leaves image from Thoughtful Branches in Versamark ink and stamped the image three times on Marina Mist card stock and once on Pacific Point.  Then I sprinkled them with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed them all.  I cut them out with the matching die in Beautiful Branches.

Two of the Marina Mist flowers I left flat.  For the Pacific Point flower, I used my stylus on the back to round the shape.  To give it even more depth, I cut the third Marina Mist flower into pieces and used small pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop them onto the back of the Pacific Point flower.

See ’em under there? 🙂

To make the card front, I took a piece of the Serene Scenery DSP and cut the flowers out of the sides with the Beautiful Branches die.  Then I laid the two Marina Mist flowers (the ones that I’d left flat) into the negative space.  I turned the panel over and used pieces of scotch tape to hold the die cuts in place.  Then I trimmed the edges to be straight with the edge of the DSP.

I adhered the panel to a Basic Black mat – I liked how the black highlighted the negative space in the two flat flowers.  Then I cut a couple of leaves and stems from Old Olive card stock.  One of them I adhered to the panel with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to form the stem.  I cut the two leaves off the second stem and adhered them near the top.  I gave them all a brush with my Clear Wink of Stella.

Then I popped the third flower on with more Stampin’ Dimensionals.  So that’s two levels of dimensional popping for that flower!

The Thoughtful Branches sentiment is stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink on a strip of Vellum card stock, which I trimmed with banner ends and rounded corners (using the Project Life Corner Punch).  I stapled my banner to a strip of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon and used a Glue Dot to adhere it to the card front.

I tied a bow with a piece of Basic Black Solid Baker’s Twine and a piece of the new-in-the-Holiday-Catalog Gold Baker’s Twine (from the Baker’s Twine Trio pack) and adhered it over the staple with a Glue Dot.  Then I added a gold dot from the Metallic Enamel Shapes pack in the Annual Catalog.

I added a few more of the gold dots on the top of the panel and the card front was done!

On the inside, I used the single leaf stamp from Thoughtful Branches and stamped it several times in Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive across the bottom of a Whisper White panel.

I SNAILd it to a Basic Black mat and then into my Old Olive card base.  I also SNAILd the card front on, since it already has plenty of texture!  And that was it for the card.

For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added more of the Thoughtful Branches leaf image in Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive on the front…

…and added some Serene Scenery DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I know I’ve done hydrangeas for you before with this set – heck, I even think it was blue.  But I love them and this one is completely different.  Right? 🙂  I hope you like it as much as I do.

Card cuts and all the products you need to make this one for yourself are at the bottom of this post…
