Well? How was Friday? Did you go shopping? Are you dropping? Or did you…like I…hit the online stores? Yea – I didn’t do as much as I needed to – and some of my purchases will not be popular with the ponies, but….I did some! I hope that if you were out and about that you had fun!
I mentioned yesterday that if I were at home on the day after Thanksgiving, I’d have been decorating the house, putting up the tree, generally transitioning to full-blown Christmas! Well, since I couldn’t be there doing that, I decided to do an homage to that activity with my card share for today. So, I used some of the fun Home for Christmas DSP (which is retiring, so get it soon!!), a Delicate Ornament die cut, and a Peaceful Pines stamp. Take a look-see:
My design layout was inspired by the Mojo Monday challenge #425. Be sure to head over and check them out, okay?
I let the pretty trimmed Christmas tree of the Home for Christmas DSP set the tone for the card. I cut it out with my Circles Collections Framelits, and then matted it on a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock. I fussy-trimmed the mat to make it as narrow as I wanted it!
For the card front, I chose the snow flurry design from the same DSP, and then matted it on Cherry Cobbler. That color combo might seem odd – it does to me, too – but it gives a quirky, retro feel to the DSP and to the card, I think. I used the Softly Falling TIEF on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock, mimicking the snow flurries on the DSP. I SNAILd the vertical element to the snow-embossed Very Vanilla Panel.
I stamped the forest-y pine tree, from the Peaceful Pines stamp set, in Mossy Meadow on Very Vanilla card stock, and cut it out with the matching die from the Perfect Pines Framelits (that I got in a 15% off bundle!). I SNAILd that to another piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock, and fussy cut a mat for it.
The final element on the front is an ornament – after all, we’re figuratively trimming a Christmas Tree, here, and ornaments are just kinda pivotal to that endeavor! 😉
I cut one of the pretty ornaments from the Delicate Ornaments Thinlits dies from a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper (in the Weekly Deals until Monday!) and then used some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere it to a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock. I fussy cut around the ornament to remove the excess.
I SNAILd my matted pine tree to the card front, followed by the round Christmas Tree. Then I popped the ornament on top with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. I gave the ornament a small bow made from the lovely Venetian Crochet Trim, adhering it with a dab of Liquid Glue.
For the sentiment, I stamped “Tis the Season”, from the Versatile Christmas stamp set, in Mossy Meadow on a piece of Very Vanilla. Then I cut it out with my Washi Label punch. I finished it off with some Cherry Cobbler cross-stitches, made with a Stampin’ Write Marker. Cross-stitching just seemed to fit right in with the feel of this card. I adhered it with some SNAIL on the right side, and a Stampin’ Dimensional on the left side (this compensated for the thickness of the ornament).
The inside is a piece of Very Vanilla card stock. I ran the panel thru the Big Shot in the Softly Falling TIEF. I only embossed about an inch and a little on the bottom. Over that (and thus covering where the edge of the embossing folder leaves its mark), I layered a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and a strip of the Home for Christmas DSP.
I popped the card front onto my Cherry Cobbler card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and that was it for the card!
I pulled out a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope and stamped one Perfect Pine tree onto the front in Mossy Meadow….
….and then added a liner from the Home For Christmas DSP, cut with my Envelope Liner Framelits!
Et Voila! A card-makers version of the annual tree-trimming in preparation for Christmas. I have to say – I love when I’ve got my tree up! Yes, it’s an artificial tree. I know. I do miss the smell of the tree – but I don’t miss the needles! And the “what do we do with it now” at the end of the season (and – I can make the “season” last a long, long time with my artificial tree!!). But, I love how it looks. I turn the lights on in the morning when I get up and I leave them on until I go to bed. There’s just nothing like the gentle glow of the white lights on a Christmas tree. Actually – if people wouldn’t think I was a loon, I might be tempted to leave it up all year long!
I know – it’s a very artsy picture. 😉 Pretty sure that’s Leo’s big noggin….
So – we’re getting near the end of the Online Extravaganza and the Double Punkin’ Head Rewards ordering special! Please don’t miss out, okay??
Have a great Saturday – and I’ll see you tomorrow! Hey, if YOU decorated your tree on the day after Thanksgiving, send me a pic, okay? 🙂

Awesome tree card Mary! That almost makes me want to pull out my tree and put it up…almost. 😉 Did a little shopping yesterday, no dropping. Hope that you enjoyed your online Black Friday! 🙂
Thanks, Amy! Pull it out! You’ll be so happy you did! 🙂
Nice. I think the tree up is wonderful too. And I leave it up long too. And I think it will go up today or tomorrow if I can wrangle it by myself. 😃
Thanks, Mom – hope that you got your tree up! 🙂
