Happy Thanksgiving, my friends! I hope this post finds you well, and surrounded by your family and friends. And that your turkey thawed! 😉 I recall one quite memorable Thanksgiving many many years ago, when the turkey did not thaw, no matter what heroic efforts my parents attempted. These days, the options for dinner on Thanksgiving are many, but back in the dark ages when this took place….not so much. Denny’s was the only option. And they were out of turkey! Perhaps that’s the year I developed a taste for not-turkey on Thanksgiving – and on Christmas, too, for that matter. Whatever your choice for dinner – I hope that preparations are well under way!
The Happy Stamper Ladies-Who-Hop have gathered their projects to share with you this Thanksgiving Thursday. I know they’ve all worked hard to bring wonderful cards to you, so be sure to cruise thru all of their blogs, okay?
Here’s our design inspiration – this week was a sketch challenge!
My share is a conglomeration of the old and the new. I used the wonderful For All Things, Vintage Leaves, Lighthearted Leaves and a soon-to-be-released 2016 Occasions Catalog set called Apple of My Eye (we ALL got one of these at OnStage Live – it was quite cool!!). Take a look-see:
sigh….my lighting solutions are just not working all that well, and I’m so sorry. I really thought the light I ordered would do the trick, but…. 🙁
Anyway – I started by running a Very Vanilla card stock panel thru the Big Shot in the Brick Wall TIEF. Then, using my sponge and the Cajun Craze Classic Ink pad, I sponged the edges and swirled it lightly into the center. Then I flicked the edges with the sponge, just to give it some definition.
I got the leaves from the new Apple of My Eye stamp set – this is a fun set that you’ll be able to order starting 5 Jan 16! It’s got lots of fun images in it – including these leaves. I stamped them in Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Mossy Meadow down the side of the brick wall embossed panel. Then I SNAILd the panel to a mat made from a piece of Mossy Meadow design Botanical Gardens DSP (2016 Occasions Catalog).
I made the leaves by stamping the maple and oak images from Vintage Leaves in Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry on Vellum card stock, and then cutting them out with the Leaflets Framelits dies. I lightly crumpled them up and then smoothed them out and adhered them to the card front with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.
For the sentiment, I put a sticky note over the top of the image from For All Things (I covered the “Give Thanks” portion), and inked the remainder with my Mossy Meadow ink pad. I stamped it on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock and cut the circle out with the second-from-the-center die in the Circles Collection Framelits. I also cut out the mat, using the Mossy Meadow design from the Botanical Gardens DSP – with the next larger die in the collection.
I SNAILd the sentiment to its mat, and then used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop it onto the card front over the Vellum leaves. I used some Liquid Glue to adhere an Into the Woods Element to the circle, and the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere a tiny Linen Thread bow to the wooden leaf. That was it – I set it aside to get the inside made!
The inside liner is a piece of Very Vanilla card stock, with the edges “flicked” with my Cajun Craze sponge and a bunch of the Apple of My Eye leaves down the side (Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Mossy Meadow). I stamped the sentiment from Lighthearted Leaves in Mossy Meadow, SNAILd the panel to another piece of Mossy Meadow Botanical Gardens DSP and that was it!
I popped the card front onto my Crushed Curry card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals and moved on to the envelope!
The front of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got the “Leaves” treatment…..
…and I added a liner of Botanical Gardens DSP, cut with my Envelope Liners Framelits!
Et voila! A card for Thanksgiving and Fall. Last one of the season? Perhaps! It’s probably time to go All-Christmas and All-Occasions Catalog sneak peek! 🙂

Great card. Great memory. I still don’t find Denny’s very interesting. And I am sure that upsets them all the way to the bank!
That’s one that even I can remember! Thanks, Mom! 🙂
