Stampin’ Up! Tin of Tags Christmas Treat Box

Hey, y’all!  It’s Monday and we’re back at it, huh?  Had a busy Sunday – it was our quarterly Amy’s Inkin’ Krew meeting – the one where we get together in person!  We have lunch, then Amy goes over some business, then we make projects!  This time around, we made a treat box using the Tin of Tags stamp set and the Envelope Punch Board and two cards using the 2017 Occasions Catalog stamp set Lift Me Up and the matching Up & Away Thinlits.  I’ll show you the treat box in just a sec.

But first – Finn.

Is a weirdo goofus McGillicuty!

finn-in-the-kennel
Yes.  He’s asleep.  Please notice the butt on the back bolster and the schnoozzle pushed against the bars of the kennel.  I don’t know how to explain this pose.  I have no idea why he got into it or how.  Or why he stayed there.

My only explanation is…goofy. 😉

So today, we started our projects by making a super cute little treat box with the Envelope Punch Board.  This project was first seen on SplitCoast Stampers – and here’s a link to the Mini File Box tutorial by Chris Slogar.  We used the Tin of Tags stamp set and a Stitched Shapes Framelit.  Take a look-see:

We made the “mini file box” from Basic Black card stock, using the Tutorial.  It’s super easy and quick and starts with just a 6″ x 6″ piece of card stock or DSP.  Use Tear & Tape Adhesive and the Mini Handheld Stapler to assemble the box.

Once it was together, we wrapped a length of Real Red 3/4″ Stitched Edge Ribbon around it and popped the sentiment over the top with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The sentiment, from Tin of Tags, is stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink on Whisper White, then cut with a Stitched Shapes Framelits die.  Then it was matted on a Real Red scalloped edge square, cut with a Squares Layering Framelit.

We cut a few little holly leaves from Garden Green card stock, using the Holly Berry Builder Punch and adhered them with a little Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  We finished it off with a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels, colored with a Red Sharpie and added a Gusseted Cellophane Bag, filled with candy and tied with a piece of Real Red Baker’s Twine!

Here’s the two cards we made, using the Lift Me Up Bundle and some Carried Away DSP – which you’ll be able to get for FREE when you purchase $50 before shipping and tax during Sale-A-Bration.

Stampin’ Up! Detailed Holly Jolly Santa

Good morning!  Have you ordered your Stitched Shapes Framelits?  If not – click here to go right to them in my Online Store and take advantage of my ordering special!  Double Peppermint Rewards Points for orders over $50 (before shipping and handling) thru 7 Nov!

Yesterday morning, Finn and I had a nice run.  Well.  He ran and I drove the golf cart – watching closely that he didn’t dart in front of me and stop on a dime to scratch his neck.  Or smell a rock.  Or eat a …. horse apple!  When we got to the open pasture, we stopped for a little game of Frisbee. And I do mean little.  I think he went after it twice.  And then….

finn-and-frisbee
…the unmistakeable signal that we’re done.  At least for a few minutes.  Or until I throw a different toy.  That seems to reset the timer on him. 🙂

He’s growing like a weed, I think!  I bought what I thought was going to be a good size crate for him.  I was oh-so-wrong.  It’s going to have to go back and be exchanged for a larger model!

After the play time and breakfast and getting the oil changed in the van, I made y’all a little Christmas Card.  Cuz…Halloween is over so now it’s Christmas.  I know, Thanksgiving’s in there, and there’ll be cards for that, I promise.  But…today it’s about Christmas!

A while back, I ended up with a leftover design element made with the Detailed Santa Thinlits and some Warmth & Cheer DSP.  I made it for a card and then went a different way.  But I saved that element. Cuz…cute!  So I decided to use it today.  With some more Warmth & Cheer DSP and a sentiment from the Christmas Greetings.  And Holly.  And Holly Berries.  Take a look-see:

detailed-holly-jolly-santa-4-stamps-n-lingers
The Paper Players have a Tic Tac Toe challenge this week – I love these, cuz it leaves things so up-to-the-cardmaker!

pp319-sketch
You can see I went down the left side – Red/Santa/Diecut.  I may have to do another card for this challenge – there’s so many fun ways to go on it!

I also played with the Global Design Project – which is a CASE the designer challenge.

gdp060-sketch
So my Detailed Santa element is just the thinlit die cut in Basic Gray card stock and adhered with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to a piece of Warmth & Cheer DSP.  Then I trimmed the right side of the die cut.

The card build started with a piece of the same design from Warmth & Cheer, SNAILd to a Basic Gray mat.

The next layer is Cherry Cobbler card stock, embossed in the Softly Falling TIEF and SNAILd to a Basic Gray mat.  Over that I adhered the trimmed-down Detailed Santa with Liquid Glue.  As I look back on it – if I were to make it again, I might pop this element up with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. 🙂

detailed-holly-jolly-santa-2-stamps-n-lingers
I made the sentiment by cutting three of the die cuts from Christmas Greetings and adhering them in a stack with Liquid Glue.  Then I stuck them to the card front.

My little decoration is two Garden Green Holly Leaves cut with the Holly Builder Punch, given some veining with the Garden Green Stampin’ Write Marker, then popped onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I used three Cherry Cobbler Enamel Shapes as “berries”.  Finally, I tied a bow with all three colors (Garden Green, Cherry Cobbler and Gold) of Baker’s Twine from the Baker’s Twine Trio pack in the Holiday Catalog and stuck it on with Liquid Glue.  And the card front was done!

detailed-holly-jolly-santa-8-stamps-n-lingers
On the inside, I stamped a holly sprig from the Holly Berry Happiness stamp set, in Garden Green, on a Whisper White panel.  This is a two-step stamp – so I stamped the outline image in straight Garden Green and added the fill image in stamped-off-once Garden Green.  I did the same sort of thing for the berries, using Cherry Cobbler.

detailed-holly-jolly-santa-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd it to a Basic Gray mat and into my Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimesionals, and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a repeat of the Holly Berry Happiness holly sprig on the front…

detailed-holly-jolly-santa-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and some more of the Warmth & Cheer DSP on the envelope flap.

detailed-holly-jolly-santa-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  Detailed Santa – sometimes it pays to be a pack-rat! – paired up with some Warmth & Cheer and little bit of Holly.  And a bright Christmas Greeting.  Hope you like!

shareableimage_2_na
These are new Circles, Ovals and Squares Framelits – 12 dies in all – that cut your shapes while simultaneously creating a hand-stitched look for your card-making projects! These will be “officially released” in the 2017-2018 annual catalog, but we get to buy them right now!

On top of that, SU! has a great 25% sale off coordinating stamp sets from 1 – 30 November! Click here to open up a PDF with the list of stamp sets that are on sale.  Or – you can go right to them in my Online Store….here! 🙂

And there’s more great news…although the 25% off stamps sets sale ends 30 November, you’ll still be able to get the Stitched Shapes Framelits after that date! Cool, huh? 🙂

Details:

  • Stitched Shapes Framelits available beginning today! (will continue to be available through the 2017-18 Annual Catalog!)
  • 1 – 30 November 2016: select stamp sets 25% off
  • Promotion Deadline (25% off select stamp sets): 30 November 2016, by 11:50 PM (MT)

FYI, here are the measurements for the full cutout pieces for the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies:

  • Circles:
    1-3/8”
    1-7/8”
    2-3/8”
    2-7/8”
  • Squares:
    1-3/16”
    1-5/8”
    2-1/8”
    2-5/8”
  • Ovals:
    1-3/4” x 13/16”
    2-1/4” x 1-5/16”
    2-3/4” x 1-13/16”
    3-1/4” x 2-5/16”

The stitched embossing is approximately 1/16” from the edge of the cutout. So the dimensions are approximately 1/8” smaller than the cutouts.

Can you even believe it’s already the second day of November?  Craziness.

Check out the 25% off stamp sets – those are only good for this month!  And get you some Double Peppermints! 🙂

Tomorrow’s Happy Stampers Blog Hop Day so look for a post around 7am Eastern – hope you’ll join us!
